This is the moment. Millikin’s Center for Theatre & Dance is the place. This revolutionary, light-filled facility is scheduled for completion by fall 2020. It includes a flexible 250-seat theatre and well-equipped studios, classrooms, design, sound and lighting labs, an orchestra pit, a costume studio and public spaces, providing a professional venue for our studentartists and an opportunity for community collaboration. Located in the heart of campus, the Center offers a focused location for creativity to be taught, fostered and displayed both by our campus community and outside stakeholders as Decatur’s up-and-coming cultural center. The Millikin University School of Theatre & Dance (SOTAD) has earned a reputation among theatre professionals around the globe for excellence in training undergraduate theatre students. Most recently, American Theatre Magazine, Onstage Blog, and College Magazine named ours one of the best theatre programs in the country. We offer six degree programs in design, performance, and management. Our approach to education, known as Performance Learning, offers conservatory-style training rooted in a well-rounded, comprehensive university experience which is designed to develop students’ professional portfolios and enhance their ambition and creativity as artists and human beings. Millikin SOTAD graduates achieve success in film, television, Broadway, regional theatre, and international touring companies.
