FIVE AWESOME REASONS TO LIVE ON CAMPUS ACTIVE STUDENT LIFE
Be close to where it’s all happening — fun campus activities, athletic events, dining facilities, fitness center and friends who are only a few doors down from you!
ACADEMIC SUCCESS
Studies suggest that students who live on campus tend to have a higher graduation rate, better GPA and a more satisfactory college experience overall.
SAFETY FIRST
All residence hall buildings have access-controlled entry. The Woods at Millikin is a gated community with HD color cameras, access-controlled amenities and on-duty security officers.
COMFORTABLE LIVING
Experience all the comforts of home while enjoying the amenities of residential living. MU residence halls come furnished and feature wireless internet, quiet study spots, commons areas and 24-hour laundry facilities. When you move to The Woods beginning your sophomore year, you’ll enjoy additional amenities such as a resort-style pool, fitness center, theater room and gaming area.
COMPATIBLE ROOMMATES
Roommates are assigned based on criteria students disclose through the online housing application and roommate preference survey, so you’ll have a chance to live with someone who shares common interests and goals. Roommates are matched on a first-come, firstserved basis.

FIRST-YEAR LIVING LEARNING COMMUNITIES Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are an option for students wishing to live alongside those who share common interests, passions or majors. Students can indicate their preference for an LLC on the Millikin Housing Application. The Office of Campus Life reviews applications and students are placed in a community based on preference and availability. SQUARE ONE (Open-Minded Neighbors for Equality) The Square ONE Community is focused on developing a strong sense of belonging for students of various gender identities in the LGBTQ+ community, as well as students who consider themselves allies. This LLC celebrates inclusivity, knowledge and advocacy through training and exploration. Students will learn how to support peers with an emphasis on connecting and engaging in conversation and action.
NURSING The Nursing LLC is tailored for students majoring in nursing at Millikin and fosters valuable connections between future healthcare professionals. Students residing in this tightly-knit community will have similar class schedules, specialized faculty interaction, programming and an environment that promotes success in this rigorous major.
HONORS The Honors LLC is for those interested in living in an academically-focused environment with fellow honor students. Residents share common class schedules and have the opportunity to attend seminars and study sessions within the residence hall, along with special programming, faculty interaction and upper-class honor student mentors.
COMMITMENT TO THE ARTS Calling all artists! Students in the College of Fine Arts will find a perfect fit within Commitment to the Arts LLC. Supported by College of Fine Arts faculty and staff, this LLC encourages creativity, individuality and flexibility in the arts. Residents of this community are encouraged to display their artwork and exercise their talents (play your instrument on your floor). Connect with fellow artists at Millikin!
BUSINESS Students in the Business LLC are immersed in a community that builds future networks and teaches residents with a variety of opportunities to become involved at Millikin, planning campus events, networking with recent MU business grads and managing various studentrun business ventures.
GLOBAL CITIZENS This globally-focused LLC is designed to allow American and international students to see the world through a different lens and create a unique environment. The community places a domestic student and an international student in each residence hall room. Beyond the cultural opportunities, this LLC also features programming about global awareness, modern languages and diversity, along with close interaction with Millikin’s Center for International Education.
LONG-VANDERBURG (LV) SCHOLARS First year students accepted into the Long-Vanderburg (LV) Scholars Program will automatically be placed in this active community. The LV Scholars Program recognizes high scholastic achievement among those students who have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, leadership, and community service.
FRATERNITY AND SORORITY HOUSING The Greek community at Millikin consists of 11 chapters and five chapter houses, with 20% of the student body choosing to join a fraternity or sorority during their time here. Going Greek allows students to focus on scholarship, service and leadership while networking and creating lifelong friendships. The following organizations have University-approved chapter housing.
