Founded in 1991, Tuacahn Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that is nestled at the base of Padre Canyon, surrounded by red sandstone cliffs that rise thousands of feet into the beautiful blue southern Utah sky.

MISSION: Tuacahn edifies and inspires the human spirit through professional world-class family entertainment and an unparalleled artistic and educational experience that matches the majesty of our canyon.

Known best for its professional theatre, Tuacahn attracts the most talented actors in America. Each year, thousands of applicants audition from New York City to Los Angeles. Tuacahn productions include members of Actors’ Equity Association, the union for professional actors and stage managers, many of whom have appeared on Broadway or in other nationally recognized venues.

As a community asset, Tuacahn entertains more than 350,000 patrons each year, with musicals, concerts, shopping, food, and other special events. Tuacahn is Utah’s largest professional non-profit theatre and acts as an economic engine generating an annual impact of more than $110 million. Visitors stay in hotels, dine at restaurants, and shop at retail outlets while enjoying recreational activities in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

MIMI BESSETTE * in addition to being a recording artist, Mimi Bessette is an established actress in American theater. Her credits include - Broadway/ Off-Broadway: Bonnie & Clyde(Emma Parker), The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas(Dawn) and Little Shop of Horrors(Audrey). First National Tours: “Whorehouse”, Parade and Big River. She’s performed lead roles at almost all the major regional theaters across the U.S. in shows such as Into The Woods, Bright Star, A Gentleman’s Guide To Love and Murder, Woody Sez, Cowgirls, Always… Patsy Cline, Hank Williams: Lost Highway, The Buddy Holly Story, Blood Brothers, Nunsense, Pump Boys and Dinettes and Woody Guthrie’s American Song. Film/TV: Annie (opposite Jamie Foxx) and Diffcult People (opposite Andrea Martin). Mimi sang with Bruce Springsteen as part of a Woody Guthrie celebration with The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He currently lives in New York City, but is a proud graduate of Arizona State University and holds a Bachelors of Music in Musical Theatre Performance. Some favorite regional credits include: Bandstand, Once, Ring of Fire, Million Dollar Quartet, and The Hello Girls. VALERIE LARSEN* is so excited to be Music Directing and playing Young June with this spectacular team at Tuacahn! Originally from SLC Utah, Valerie got her BFA at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music. Recent Music Director work includes States of Matter and Continuity with Blue Dorian Entertainment, A Sad Tale’s Best for Winter with Director Anna Miles at A Noise Within Theater and other independent projects. As an actor, regional theater credits include Ring of Fire at ETC in Santa Barbara, Holly in the World Premier of Bearings at the Flight Theater, Hermione in the World Premier of A Sad Tale’s Best for Winter at A Noise Within, Sophie in the World Premier of Mutt House the Musical at the Kirk Douglas Theater, Ulla u/s in The Producers at Celebration Theater, a Swing in Frozen Live at the Hyperion at Disneyland Resort, Ensemble in the Regional Premier of Something Rotten at Musical Theater West, and can be seen on TV as Kathy in “Extreme Measures Ep. 206”, Discovery+ Network. Val teaches voice and instrumental lessons online, is a singer-songwriter and dotes on her cat, Petra. SKY SEALS* is thrilled to be making his Tuacahn debut! Audiences across the country have been enjoying his performance as Johnny Cash since his debut in Million Dollar Quartet at the Westchester Broadway Dinner Theater in 2016. He has since performed the show over 1000 times in 18 different productions, and won the Bay Area Theater Award for Best Actor in 2018. He has previously been seen in Ring of Fire at the Geva Theatre in Rochester, NY. Sky performed Off-Broadway as Dylan in Sessions (Algonquin Theater) and King Edward in Henry 6, part 3 (Classic Stage Company). Sky was the founder of the New York based Theater collective, Wide Eyed Productions, where he

developed and composed the youth musicals, Jack and the Soy Beanstalk and Goldilocks and the Three Polar Bears. Most recently, Sky developed and composed the full-length musical, Gold Can’t Love You Back, and directed a blockbuster production of RENT at the Oldest Theater West of the Mississippi (The Nevada Theater). Sky currently resides in Nevada City, CA, with his fiance Judy, and his wolf dogs Kava and Hana.

ZACH SPOUND* is a New York-based actor and composer. Stage credits include The Other Josh Cohen (Off-Broadway), Once (Cape Playhouse and South Coast Rep), Floyd Collins (La Mirada), A Class Act (Porchlight Music Theatre), Othello, Love’s Labors Lost, and La Ronde (Shakespeare Santa Cruz). On TV, he can be seen in Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Zach is also an award-winning musical theatre composer and has written 3 full length musicals, including LEAP (NMI/Disney New Voices Award), and WTF Is Going On?. His most recent work, In This Body, was a semi-finalist for the Eugene O’Neill NMTC and was released last year as a concept cast album, which you can hear on all streaming platforms. In addition to his writing, he is the music supervisor, orchestrator, and arranger of Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical, which ran Off-Broadway, on the West End, and completed its 1st national tour.

BARRY TARALLO* is pleased to be here at the beautiful Tuacahn Center for the Arts. A veteran performer, Barry began his professional career on Broadway in the original production of Grease at The Royale Theater

where he would later appear in the original cast of Joseph..Dreamcoat (original cast album) OffBroadway: The Pirates of Penzance (The Delacorte) and the National Tour of Cotton Patch Gospel. Regionally: Ford’s Theater (with Scott Wakefield & Mimi Bessette), La Jolla Playhouse, Asolo Rep, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Actors Playhouse and Key West’s Red Barn Theater. He is a five time recipient of South Florida’s Carbonell Award including Best Supporting Actor for Harry Chapin’s America and four proudly shared Best Ensemble nods. LOUIS TUCCI* Tuacahn debut! Louis is an Actor/MultiInstrumentalist/Composer based in New York City. Broadway: Buddy:The Buddy Holly Story. OffBroadway: The Other Josh Cohen, Return to the Forbidden Planet, The Cider House Rules and Woyzeck. Regional: Man of La Mancha (Pedro), Guys and Dolls (Nathan Detroit), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Snug). Film/TV: State Park (with Ted Nugent!), Flying (with Keanu Reeves!), High Maintenance and The Blacklist. Louis co-wrote Artificial World with Julee Cruise (Twin Peaks), for Wes Craven’s Scream. SCOTT ANDERSON (Producing Artistic Director) joined Tuacahn in 2004 and enjoys creatively shaping and artistically leading this dynamic arts institution. He has worked for more than forty years in theatre, film, radio and television. He has been involved in over 100 productions as an actor, director or producer but considers his eighteen years at Tuacahn to be one of his most satisfying challenges. Scott’s more recent directing credits include: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Prince of Egypt, Shrek the Musical, Disney’s When You Wish, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Tarzan, Annie, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Les Misérables and Peter Pan. PAUL BLACK (Scenic/Lighting Designer) is excited to be back at Tuacahn where he previously designed Tarzan, Mary Poppins, School of Rock and ELF. Paul has been designing for over 30 years. AMALIA PHEND (Assistant Costume Designer) is excited to be making her Tuacahn debut! Amalia is a student in the BFA Theatre Design and Technology program at Florida Atlantic University, focusing in Costume Design. She works mostly in Hair, Makeup, and Wig Design, with recent credits including Twelfth Night(FAU), Cabaret(Zoetic Stage), and One Man, Two Guvnors(FAU). SLOANE GRIFFITH (Directing Intern) Sloane is so excited to be back at Tuacahn in a different role than usual! You may have seen her in a variety of different roles throughout the years. Her favorite shows at Tuacahn include Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, School of Rock and Matilda. Sloane is finishing up her last year at the University of Utah and is looking forward to a career doing what she loves, singing and dancing and being on stage! In July, she will be in The Music Man at PCLO! Sloane enjoys spending time with family & friends, boating, and Dutch Bros. She is beyond grateful to have the opportunity to work with and learn from so many amazing professionals at this young age!

KEVIN SMITH (CEO & Executive Producer) has been with Tuacahn for more than 25 years. He has produced or co-produced over 65 professional Broadway musical productions, and has presented more than 600 major professional concerts and events at Tuacahn. Kevin has a BS in Sociology with a minor in Business Management from Brigham Young University and a Master of Education Degree from Southern Utah University. In 2021 Smith was recognized as a community leader by the Utah National Guard and received the Bronze Minuteman Award for extraordinary support and leadership to the citizens of Utah in the cultural arts. He currently serves on the Utah State Board of Tourism and Development, on the Greater Zion Tourism Advisory Board, on

the Ivins City Council (elected this year) and on the Zions Bank Regional Advisory Board. Kevin lost his first wife, Rebecca, to cancer. He is now married to Liz Erickson and they have a combined family of 10 children, 3 daughter inlaws, 2 son in-laws, and 7 grandchildren.

SHARI JORDAN (Associate Artistic Producer/ Casting Coordinator) from Raleigh, NC, began her professional career as an actor in the National Tour of Crazy for You (Tess). She performed at Tuacahn for nine seasons and was the Dance captain for 17 shows. Tuacahn audiences may remember Shari as Rosie in Mama Mia!, the Mother in the World Premier of Disney’s When You Wish, Mama Bear in Shrek, and Madame in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Shari performed the role of Ulla and every other female role in Mel Brooks’ The Producers on the Broadway National Tour as well as the Las Vegas production with Tony Danza and David Hasselhoff. Shari was an assistant choreographer to five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman for the historic Hollywood Bowl’s production of The Producers and performed the role of Shirley Markowitz. She is also in the film of The Producers. Shari was a Radio City Rockette for six seasons and a national champion baton twirler. Director/ Choreographer/Assistant credits include The Stage Door, Hollywood Bowl, University of Michigan, Pittsburgh CLO, North Shore Music Theatre, North Carolina Theatre and TNT’s Emmy winning AFI’s Tribute to Mel Brooks in which Shari had a featured role. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of N.C. State University. Shari produced her first Tuacahn season in 2019 and loves bringing professional

theatre to Southern Utah. Her passion stems from the desire to put artists to work and bring joy to others that can only be found working on or watching a live performance. Theatre is a noble profession. Love to Mom, Dad and my boys, AJ, Jordan and Hudson.

ZOE BAIRD (Company Manager) from London, England is thrilled to be at Tuacahn for her ninth season. Graduating with a degree in Drama and Theater Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London she has followed her theatrical nose out to St George, UT! Zoe has worked for the Ambassador Theater Group in the West End, alongside being an Event’s Manager across London. Some of her favorite credits to date are: Fat Pig, The Brit Awards, The London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, The What’s On Stage Awards, Tuacahn: Newsies, Matilda, The Prince of Egypt, The Count of Monte Cristo, School of Rock, and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat Most recently Zoe Company Managed a special presentation of the new musical Mozart: Her Story - The Musical at Carnegie Hall. Special thanks go to her right hand man, Whitney, and her amazing family for believing in her and supporting her as though they aren’t 5000 miles away.

JONATHAN KATZIAS (Production Manager)

This is Jonathan’s third year at Tuacahn. As an East Coast native he is no stranger to this year’s shows. Jonathan has previously been a part of both the Frozen and Anastasia 1st National Tour productions, as well as Jersey Boys at New World Stages in NYC and the yet to be released filmed version of the stage production starring Nick Jonas as Frankie Valli. Previously working with ShowMotion Inc. one of the largest technical solution providers in live entertainment, Jonathan has worked on over 50 NY Broadway shows; most notably: The Music Man, Company, Beetlejuice, Flying Over Sunset, Tootsie, Mean Girls, West Side Story, Pretty Woman, To Kill a Mockingbird, Carousel, Angels in America, and Tina Turner the Musical. “I thank God for the opportunity to wake up every day and play my small part in today’s theater industry. I am forever grateful to my wife Irene for her continual support in all my artistic endeavors. Sending all my love to the true princesses in my life, my twin girls Millie and Gracie... enjoy the blue princess show!”

JACQUI THOMASSEN (Assistant Production Manager) This is Jacqui’s first year at Tuacahn. JEFF MILLER (Technical Director – Audio, Video, Lighting) has been working in professional theater for over 30 years. Prior to Tuacahn he was in Las Vegas where he spent several years with Cirque Du Soleil’ s The Beatles LOVE show at the Mirage. Jeff has also worked for many regional theaters around the country, including 18 years with The Seattle Children’s Theater. Besides helping create incredible shows at Tuacahn, Jeff enjoys exploring the desert and mountains with his wife and 2 kids.

BRENDAN BAKER (Technical Director – Props, Scenery, SFX) is excited to take on the role of Technical Director, following a successful year as an Assistant Technical Director in the theatre industry. Brendan has already established himself as a valuable member of the theatre community, known for his exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Brendan is skilled in bringing the designers’ vision to life, managing budgets, collaborating with designers and directors, and leading teams of technicians to deliver their best work. His passion for theatre inspires him to create unforgettable experiences for audiences and transport them to new worlds through the magic of live performance. EMMA BELEW (Stage Operations Manager) Emma is so excited to join the Tuacahn production management team this season! Her previous experience includes 2 seasons at Utah Shakespeare Festival in stage management and assistant stage managing Children of Eden: In Concert for Broadway in Chicago. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, she also loves to combine travel and work which have led her to Hawaii, Michigan and California.
