SLAC’s Green Room Gallery is a celebration of visual art. SLAC’s Summer Show: A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, is a love letter to our community. That is reflected by the 22 community based artists represented in the gallery. The Green Room Gallery is a space for conversation, enjoyment, and reflection, but most importantly, it is another way for SLAC to support Utah artists and be a community resource.

DAISY ALI ALL* is a genderqueer makeup artist and actor who has loved the theatre all of her life. She is grateful for this and every opportunity to be on stage. Recent credits include last year’s SLACabaret: Down the Rabbit Hole and Good Company Theatre’s Queer the Stage: the Golden Age. She would like to thank her family, for supporting her through each endeavor, and her husband, Aaron for being there every step of the way.

MADISON ARCHIBALD is delighted to be back performing at Salt Lake Acting Company! She previously performed with SLAC in Elephant & Piggie: “We are in a Play!” as one of the very excitable Squirrelles. Madison graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting where she starred in roles as Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress, Raymonde in A Flea in Her Ear and Dogberry in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Madison has also cultivated an audience of over 500k on her TikTok but couldn’t be happier to be back where she’s happiest: on stage! Follow her journey on TikTok and Instagram @the.marchie

TREVOR BIRD is very excited to make his Salt Lake Acting Company debut! A long time fan and patron of SLAC, he is honored to work with this creative team and share the stage with his talented cast mates! He was last seen as the titular character in Winnie the Pooh (Parker Theater) and earlier this year as Ross in Macbeth (New World Shakespeare). Favorite past roles include Preminger in Barbie’s Princess & the Pauper (Mask Club) and Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors (Highland Players). Many thanks to his family for always supporting his silliness, his voice teacher, Kim, who urged him to audition even when he thought it was too late, and to the cast of

Macbeth for their encouragement when he thought he wasn’t good enough to audition. Take THAT imposter syndrome!

SEAN J. CARTER* is over the moon about returning for SLACabaret this year. SLAC audiences may remember Sean as Dorian in last year’s production and as a member of a couple of casts in the New Play Sounding Series. He also graced the SLAC stage in their most recent production of Angels in America as Belize. Sean has performed on stages across the Wasatch Front to include Hale Centre Theatre, The Egyptian Theater (Park City), and The Grand Theatre. His other favorite stage credits include Papa Ge in Once on This Island (HCT, The Grand), Willie Johnson in Miss Evers’ Boys (The Grand), and in Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA (HCT). Sean works as the executive assistant to the Dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Utah. Originally from Pennsylvania, Sean has a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from Southern Utah University and earned his undergraduate degree from Penn State University. Many thanks to the entire SLAC family for trusting me with this role. Thank you to Adison for all the love and support as I took this on. TREVOR B. DEAN* was first introduced to the stage and the world of puppetry by his mother over 30 years ago. He has performed in countless productions. Based in the Rocky Mountain region, he studied Musical Theatre at WSU. Trevor is excited to be back at SLAC! He has performed in several productions here starting with his first appearance in Saturday’s Voyeur 2011. He was most recently seen as Scuttle in The Little Mermaid at Hale Center Theatre Sandy. Some of his other favorite roles include Jamie (The Last 5 Years) Man in Chair (The Drowsy Chaperone), Igor (Mel Brooks: Young Frankenstein), Seymour

(Little Shop of Horrors), and Sir Lancelot (Spamalot).

WENDY JOSEPH is an actor based out of Salt Lake City where she went to school at the University of Utah. She just recently played Sherri in Hairy and Sherri at SLAC and participated in the reading for the show two years prior to production. With SLAC she’s also done SLAC Cabaret 2021; Four Women Talking about the Man Under the Sheet; Elephant and Piggie: We’re in a Play; and SLAC Cabaret: Down the Rabbit Hole. She was the reader for Tip Top Triangle with Plan-B Theatre. This fall, Wendy will be playing Squeak in Plan B Theatre’s upcoming kids show, Squeak. Last year, Wendy ventured into film shooting two movies, Winter Summer Spring or Fall and Cinderella in the Caribbean, both will be premiering within this next year. She also starred in a short film, Liminal Revelations, which will be released at the end of the year. In her free time, she enjoys being with her family, being outdoors in the sun, reading, and doing arts and crafts.

DAVID KNOELL* is happy to be back performing at Salt Lake Acting Company. He was previously seen in this season’s Hairy and Sherri by Adrienne Dawes. Other local acting credits include Great Salt Lake Fringe – Small Box with a Revolver by Dustin Hageland (2022) and One Man, One Guitar, Superstar (2021). Backstage, David was the AEA stage manager for Mestiza, or Mixed by Melissa Leilani Larson at Plan-B Theatre. Screen credits include local commercials and Love’s Portrait (Hallmark, 2022). CHICAGO (acting): Any Other Name by George Brandt and The Goldilocks Zone by Ian August (Equity Library Theatre), Romeo and Juliet (Oak Park Festival Theatre). Chicago Directing: The Second City Training Center, Chicago Dramatists, Athenaeum, The Playground, Stage 773, The Pub Theater and others. ORLANDO (acting): Everyman, Bus Stop, Major Barbara, An Inspector Calls,

David earned his MFA in Theatre Performance from the University of Central Florida and his BA from the University of Nebraska. David also serves as the Production Manager for the Department of Theatre at the University of Utah. Love to my family in Nebraska and Washington and to my wife, Stephanie.

TRUE LEAVITT is thrilled to be involved in his first production at Salt Lake Acting Company. True is a student in the Actor Training Program at U of U. Recent Salt Lake performances include Winnie the Pooh (Parker Theatre), The Sweet Science of Bruising (Babcock Theatre), Somewhere: A Primer for the End of Days (Studio 115), and Everything is About Something (Kid Sister).

MICHELLE is excited for her first show with Salt Lake Acting Company. Most recently she could be seen on the stage With WVCArts in Puffs...as the Narrator and at The Empress in Company as Marta. She has been acting and singing for over 25 years and is thrilled to be a part of this year’s summer show.

LAUREL MORGAN is thrilled to be making her Salt Lake Acting Company Debut. Laurel is currently training in the University of Utah’s Actor Training Program where she has recently been seen as Bartley in Old Man and the Old Moon and worked as a Dramaturg for Sweet Science of Bruising. Notably, she has also been as Clopin in Hunchback of Notre Dame (West Jordan Theatre) and Tiger/Owl in Winnie the Pooh, Poppy in The Empress New Phone, and Ursula in Much Ado About Nothing (Parker Theatre).

BRYCE ROMLESKI

is thrilled to be making his debut at Salt Lake Acting Company in SLAC’s Summer Show! His recent credits include: Cabaret (Babcock Theatre), Head Over Heels (The Grand Theatre), and Much Ado About Nothing (Kaiserslautern Military Community Onstage Theatre). Bryce is currently earning his BFA in Musical Theatre at the University of Utah. He would like to thank his family and friends for their unwavering love and support.

JAMES WONG is a rising senior in the Musical Theatre Program at the University of Utah. He was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina. His previous credits include Tobias Ragg in Sweeney Todd (U Opera), Ensemble / u/s Austyn in In Pieces: A New Musical (Babcock), Amiens / Jaques de Boys in As You Like It (Studio 115), Max in Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party (Hart Theater Company), and Ensemble in The Emily Dickinson Musical (Open Door, Studio 115). Prior to attending the U, James attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities where he studied classical music. AKINA YAMAZAKI is a student in the Actor Training Program at the University of Utah. Her most recent performances include The Old Man and The Old Moon (Cookie/ Lucy Puppeteer) at the Babcock Theatre, How Flowers Bloom (Janie), an original production written by Olivia C. Smith at The Alliance Theatre, Much Ado About Nothing (Hero) at Kaiserslautern Military Community Onstage, and Sweeney Todd (Toby) at Kaiserslautern Military Community Onstage. Akina’s turn as Hero earned a nomination for “Best Youth

Actress in a Play” at the 2019 TOPPERs (US Army IMCOM-Europe Entertainment Tournament of Plays).

OLIVIA CUSTODIO (Playwright) returns for her second year as the head writer for SLAC’s Summer Show after last season’s 2022 SLACabaret: Down the Rabbit Hole. She has appeared on the SLAC stage in Sleeping Giant, #SLACabaret 2021, Saturday’s Voyeur, Streetlight Woodpecker, Art Dog, I’ll Eat You Last, and numerous readings. You may have seen her elsewhere in town as The Lady of the Lake in Spamalot (Grand Theatre), Ana in Burn (Sackerson), and on KUER as a part of Plan B’s Radio Hour. She holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and a Masters in Music from the University of Utah. MICHAEL G. LEAVITT (Music Director)

D.M.A., is in his 8th year as music director for the summer show at SLAC. Currently, Michael teaches at Texas State University as the Music Director for Opera Studies. He is highly sought-after as a vocal coach, collaborative pianist and orchestra pit conductor. Michael has conducted opera productions at Texas State University, University of Utah, Westminster College, Utah Valley University, and the Utah Vocal Arts Academy. As the associate conductor, Michael worked with Tony award-winning soprano Audra McDonald for the Hale Center Theater Orem’s 110 In the Shade production. In addition, Michael has been the pianist, music director, and conductor for many musical theater and opera productions, including Die Fledermaus, Le Nozze de Figaro, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Oklahoma, Aida, Guys and Dolls, and many more.

HEIDI ORTEGA (Costume Design) is an Associate Professor of Costume Design at Murray State University in Murray KY. She holds degrees from Westminster College, Humboldt State University and Virginia Com-

monwealth University. She has been designing for almost 30 years across the US, and in Beijing China. She loves coming back “home” each summer and being a part of SLAC! A few of her favorite shows over the years include: HAIR (Egyptian Theatre), A Midsummer Nights Dream (YouTheatre at Egyptian Theatre Co.), Antigone (Traveled in KY and IN), Volume of Smoke (World Premiere), A Flea In Her Ear, Smash, An Evening Of Dario Fo & Franca Rama. She couldn’t do it without the love of her wonderful husband Daniel and the joy she gets from her delightful children. Thank you Mica and Guadalupe for always giving me hugs when I need them!

ERIK REICHERT (Scenic Designer/Construction Supervisor) is excited to be working on SLAC’s Summer Show as the Set Designer and Construction Supervisor. Previous shows for Set Design include, UBLAC, Sankofa: The Journey, go back and get it, A Year With Frog

and Toad, Elephant & Piggie, Stags Leap, The Wolves, The Dance and the Railroad and Dolls House pt.2. and was the asst. set designer on Form of a girl unknown. JESSE PORTILLO** (Light Design) is a lighting designer based in Los Angeles, and an Associate Professor of Theatre at Cal Poly Pomona. Previous SLAC credits include A Year With Frog and Toad, Pete The Cat, Saturday’s Voyeur, Climbing with Tigers, and Harbur Gate . Additional credits include productions for Pioneer Theatre Company, Arizona Broadway Theatre, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, Ancram Opera House, LOOK Musicals, New Century Dance, Repertory Dance

He is a founding member of La Gente: The Latinx Design Network, and works to make all aspects of live entertainment more diverse, equitable and inclusive by deploying anti-racist approaches in all aspects of his work.

MICHAEL FRANCIS ( Projection Designer) is an actor, director, musician, and visual artist. Apart from his contributions to the stage, Michael’s work spans discipline and genre ranging from devised installations to game design. A staunch advocate of arts education, he teaches acting in his private studio and as a visiting instructor around the United States. MWDFrancis.com

JORJI DIAZ FADEL (Asst. Director/Choreographer) is an artist based in Salt Lake City known for her talents in acting, dancing, choreographing, and modeling. Over the years you may have seen her in films/shows like High School Musical: The Series, The Mistle Tones, Den Brother, and Daddy Day Camp. Jorji received her BFA in Modern Dance Teaching from the University of Utah in 2020 and currently is a Company member for Stephen Brown Dance Company. Jorji had the pleasure of playing Daisy in Salt Lake Acting Company’s world premiere of Silent Dancer in 2018 and is honored to be back at SLAC assisting choreography/directing alongside Cynthia Fleming.

JOE KILLIAN (Sound Design) holds a B.F.A. in sound design and stage management from the University of Utah and currently serves as SLAC’s house sound engineer. In addition to event management, Mr. Killian is a free-lance designer of sound effects, soundscapes and arranged music for film, video games and the performing arts. His work has been heard in a variety of venues, including SLAC, Kings -

bury Hall, Utah PrideFest, Utah Arts Festival, Plan-B, The Grand Theatre, the Edinburgh Festival and Utah Lyric Opera.

ERIKA AHLIN (Props Design) is so excited to be on the creative team for this World Premiere! She has been working administratively with the organization since 2012, and is currently serving as Director of Development. Erika has a multitude of creative hobbies including: card making, crocheting, sewing, decorating for events and birthday parties, designing halloween costumes, and curating experiences. In her free time, Erika plays bass in two SLC based bands--one with SLAC favorite, Elaine Jarvik.

JANELLE ASTI (Assistant Lighting Designer) is excited to be joining Salt Lake Acting Company for her first Summer Show. She is a recent graduate from Cal Poly Pomona with a Lighting Design Degree after many years of working hard to get back and finish. Janelle currently works at Chapman University in Orange, CA as the Master Electrician for the College of Performing Arts. Recent works; As You Like It (CPP), Mr. Burns, A Post-Apocalyptic Play (CPP), and Circle Mirror Transformation (Pomona College). AYANNA ALLEN (AMEA) (Asst. Sound Designer) is a captivating and multifaceted Recording Academy® singer, songwriter, engineer and producer. Immersing her audience in her mantra “Inspire Love Dream”, she orchestrates a sensual experience with her bandmates for audiences of all sizes. From rocking out at The House of Blues in Dallas and Houston, to a bustling Millcreek Commons in Utah, AMEA® is a master of cultivating a high vibrational music experience. AMEA® has had her works featured in the Emmy® Award Winning series, Washed to consistent mainstream radio play across the UK. Not only does her voice stimulate peace but her DJing is sure to keep you on your feet and in love. Catch up with AMEA® at a venue near you!

ANNA BLAES (Assistant Props Designer) is thrilled to be back for her second show with SLAC’s Professional Training Program! Credits: Enactment (University of Utah Film Department), The Sweet Science of Bruising (University of Utah), A Year With Frog and Toad (Salt Lake Acting Company), A Night To Dismember (Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival), Sympathizer (The Box Gateway), and assistant design for Illyria and Storm Still (University of Utah). ROBERT SCOTT SMITH (Script Supervisor) Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Flying Bobcat Theatrical Laboratory, Assistant Professor and Head of the Actor Training Program at the University of Utah. Directing credits include The View Upstairs by Max Vernon with Good Company; As You Like It, Tartuffe adaptation by Ranjit Bolt, Big Love by Charles Mee, and an All-Female Production of Hamlet with the U of U Department of Theatre; SLAC’s New Play Sounding Series reading of Reykjavik by Steve Yockey; and PLAN-B Script-in-Hand series reading of Quarter Horse by Rob Tennant. Recent work with FBTL includes Liminal by Troy Deutsch in 2022; with the Great Salt Lake Fringe 2021, Ronald & Edith by Connor Nelis Johnson (Best of Fest and Audience Award) and Strangers: a homo’s odyssey by Tom Roche (Outstanding Solo Performance). Strangers will also be part of the United Solo Screen Festival. Past projects include a collaboration with Ririe-Woodbury Allegory (2020 Re-Imagined) and Live Creature and Ethereal Things (2019); in 2016 the World Premiere of Climbing with Tigers; in September 2014 Lost in the Woods; in May 2015 collaborated with choreographer Charlotte Boye-Christensen, NOW-ID and NYC Playwright Troy Deutsch to create FEAST, a site-specific performance at The Great Saltair.

LATOYA CAMERON (Dramaturg) is full of gratitude to have been invited to participate with this production in a different capacity. You might have seen her perform on SLAC’s stage in Passing Strange, Four Women Talking About the Man Under the Sheet, form of a girl unknown, The Cake, Stupid Fucking Bird, to name a few, or saw Sankofa, this journey: Go Back and Get it, a

collaborative production with Salt Lake Acting Company and Utah Black Artists Collective (UBLAC) which she directed. This is her first time being a dramaturg for a production, and she is grateful to Olivia and SLAC for bringing her on board. She is the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Dramaturg for Salt Lake Acting Company, and continues to be a voice for representation and inclusion in theatre, along with forming procedures on how to approach theatrical processes in a more humane and supportive way.

ADRIANA LEMKE (Intimacy Coach) is a Salt Lake City based theatre-artist and movement professional. Previous Salt Lake Acting Company productions include Yoga Play, Hairy & Sherri, Sleeping Giant, Surely Goodness & Mercy, and The Wolves. BRIDGETTE LEHMAN* (Assistant Stage Manager) is excited to be returning to Salt Lake Acting Company, where her previous productions include Hairy and Sherri and A Year With Frog and Toad! Other regional credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Good Company Theatre, and Shrek! The Musical, Little Women in Concert, Aladdin Jr., and Five Carols for Christmas for Ogden Musical Theatre. She is a Weber State University Graduate with a B.A. in Theatre Arts. University credits include Something’s Afoot, Behind the Curtain: PIPPIN, and AAT Presents: Theatre Fever. She would like to thank her family and friends for supporting her!

DANIEL JACOB HILL (Wig Designer) A native to Salt Lake City, Utah Daniels career as a hairdresser began in 2008. His expertise behind the chair created opportunities for him to work backstage at New York Fashion Week, Sundance Film Festival, and Ballet West. Daniel began working with Utah Opera in 2012 as an assistant to the chorus members, where he slowly worked up to concluding his time with the company as a Wig and Makeup Designer. Daniel is the owner of Omni salon + wellness in Sugarhouse. Daniel has done wigs for previous SLAC shows Passing Strange (2022) and SLACabaret (2022). He is thrilled to be a part of SLAC as a board member and assisting in the wigs and makeup for select shows.

KENNY RICHES (Video Director) was born in Toyota City, Japan; raised in Salt Lake City, Utah; and currently resides in Miami, Florida. His 2015 feature film, The Strongest Man, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and his most recent feature film, A Name Without A Place, premiered at the  2019 Miami International Film Festival. His producer credits include My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It To (2020, Tribeca Film Festival), and Sanzaru (2020, Slamdance Film Festival). He co-

founded The David Ross Fetzer Foundation (The Davey Foundation), a grant-giving organization for filmmakers founded in memory of David Fetzer and is a partner in the film production company, Dualist.

LINDA L. BROWN & STEVEN GLENN

BROWN (Puppet Design/Construction) are both thrilled to working at SLAC again.  They were the co-creators of the really really great big bear in SLAC’s production of Steve Yockey’s, Mercury.  As-well-as puppets for Hand To God, Art Dog, and Blackberry Winter.  Additionally, they have created puppets for Westminster College’s annual Greek Show Heracles, as well as puppets for Youth Theatre at the University of Utah’s production of Alice, presented in conjunction with Kingsbury Presents at Kingsbury Hall. Both Glenn and Linda hold MFAs in Theatre from the University of Utah. Glenn is also an instructional coach for the Granite School District for BTS Fine Arts elementary teachers.  Linda is a secondary FA Academic Specialist for the Granite District as well.

SPENCER KELLOGG (Saxophones) is extremely happy to be performing again with Salt Lake Acting Company! Spencer is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in the woodwind and the guitar families. During the academic year, Spencer works at the McKay Music Library in the School of Music at the U of U.

ZACH HANSEN (Keys) is a highly regarded music director, arranger, composer, and orchestrator. His career, begun at 16, has spanned a decade across diverse platforms, including educational, community, professional, and Off-Broadway productions. He has left his mark as a pianist and music director at Desert Star Playhouse for past 2 years (12 shows). And does collaborative piano for the University of Utah’s musical theater department. His composing portfolio includes Melissa Leilani Larsen’s Pride and Prejudice, an array of Shakespeare plays, and versatile film and radio projects like Go Assistant and In the Telling: Arabian Nights. In orchestration and production, Zach has produced original performance tracks for numerous produc-

tions, including The Prince’s New Pet: A New Family Musical and Relative Space: An Atypical Musical. Current projects involve Saw: The Musical (Off-Broadway Tour), The Fox Sisters (Wichita State University), and the upcoming Off-Broadway show, An Axemas Story: A Bloody Sappy New Musical. Zach is also delighted to be back for his second time playing for SLAC’s Summer Show

JENNIE SANT* (Production Stage Manager/ Production Manager) Has been at Salt Lake Acting Company for over 10 years. During that decade she has stage managed over 30 shows, including NPSS readings and SLAC’s Playwrights Lab. She is pleased to be working on A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Previous shows include Yoga Play, Sleeping Giant, SLACabaret 2022: Down the Rabbit Hole, Passing Strange, Egress, Elephant & Piggie, SLACabaret 2021 and Alabaster. CYNTHIA FLEMING (Executive Artistic Director) has been on the administrative staff at Salt Lake Acting Company since 1998. During this time, she has overseen multiple departments including Marketing, Communications, Development, Production, and Audience Services. In 2015, Cynthia was named to her current role as Executive Artistic Director. Prior to arriving at Salt Lake Acting Company, Cynthia performed in the Broadway, National, and International companies of the original run of A Chorus Line, directed by Michael Bennett. Cynthia remains a working artist in the theatre and continues to direct and choreograph works both at SLAC and elsewhere. Those credits include SLACabaret 2021, Silent Dancer, Saturday’s Voyeur (16 years as Choreographer, 7 as Director/Choreographer),

Bat Boy, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, as well as guest directing the MFA Playwrights’ Workshop—a partnership with the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival, Stanford University, and the National New Play Network. She has also served as a visiting professor for the University of Utah’s Musical Theatre program. Outside of her theatre-related pursuits, Cynthia is a member of the Women’s Democratic Club of Utah, as well as 100 Women Who Care SLC. Cynthia is proud to serve SLAC and its mission to engage and enrich the community through brave, contemporary theatre.

PROFESSIONAL THEATRE PROGRAM FOR EMERGING ARTISTS

Through the Professional Theatre Program for Emerging Artists (PTP), SLAC provides opportunities for students and early-career theatre artists to gain meaningful, fully paid experience by integrating them into the production cycle. This production’s PTP participants are Amea Allen, Janelle Asti, Anna Blaes, True Leavitt, Brandwynn Michelle, Laurel Morgan, Bryce Romleski, James Wong, and Akina Yamazaki.
