Founded in 1991, Tuacahn Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that is nestled at the base of Padre Canyon, surrounded by red sandstone cliffs that rise thousands of feet into the beautiful blue southern Utah sky.
MISSION: Tuacahn edifies and inspires the human spirit through professional world-class family entertainment and an unparalleled artistic experience that matches the majesty of our canyon.
Known best for its professional theatre, Tuacahn attracts the most talented actors in America. Each year, thousands of applicants audition from New York City to Los Angeles. Tuacahn productions include members of Actors’ Equity Association, the union for professional actors and stage managers, many of whom have appeared on Broadway or and other nationally recognized venues.
As a community asset, Tuacahn entertains more than 300,000 patrons each year, with musicals, concerts, shopping, food, and other special events. Tuacahn is Utah’s largest professional non-profit theatre and acts as an economic engine generating an annual impact of more than $100 million. Visitors stay in hotels, dine at restaurants, and shop at retail outlets while enjoying recreational activities in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

JESSICA BECKER (Mrs. Donner, Swing, Puppet Capt. ) is thrilled to be returning to Christmastown this holiday season and be getting to perform with Tuacahn for this first time. Jessica has performed on a boat, on a train; everything but a plane. A few favorite past credits include Patty Simcox in Grease onboard The Harmony of the Seas with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Singer/Dancer onboard the Riviera with Oceania Cruise Lines, Traveling Elf onboard the Polar Express Train Ride, and Regina in Rock of Ages in Nevada. She was Ado Annie in Oklahoma, Jennyanydots in CATS, and an Ensemble member in Mamma Mia.
EMMA BENSON (Mrs. Claus, Snowkin) is thrilled to make her Tuacahn debut! She earnestly loves Christmas and grew up on these claymation classics. BFA Musical Theatre: Shenandoah Conservatory. Tours: Ensemble/ Portia u/s in Something Rotten, original Suzy Cupcake in The Elf on the Shelf Regional: Alison in Beehive, Penny in Hairspray, Bebe in A Chorus Line. Next year, you can catch Emma belting 80s rock in Syd Norman’s Pour House with Norwegian Cruise Lines. Outside of performing, Emma loves listening to true crime podcasts, taking hip hop classes to stay humble, and eating croissants with apple jelly at the Hungarian Pastry Shop in Manhattan. JOCK BROCKI (Yukon Conelius, u/s Coach Comet) is a NorthCarolina-based actor who is pleased to make his debut on the Tuacahn stage. He has a 35year career that spans dark turns in The Nether and The Pillowman to lighthearted roles in Frosty the Snowman and Murder at the Howard Johnson’s. Other favorite roles include Matt in Mr. Burns: a Post Electric Play, Luther Bilas in South Pacific, Amos in Chicago, and Jigger in Carousel. Some of his most challenging roles include Charlie in Stones in His Pockets, Andrew in Sleuth, and alternating between Felix and Oscar in The Odd Couple. With his children grown and living in Brooklyn, Jock now resides atop a small mountain peak in Chapel Hill, N.C. with his wife, Angela, and a menagerie of fur babies.

ALEX HUNT (Rudolph, Asst. Dance Capt., Assoc. Choreographer) is thrilled to be back in Christmastown, sharing the story of Rudolph for the fourth time! After a three-year hiatus from performing, they are so excited to return to a stage filled with music, laughter, and Christmas magic. SEAN JAENICKE (Elf, u/s Hermey) is based out of Raleigh, NC. He is a musical theatre alumnus of UNC-Pembroke and Tulane University. SCOTT ANDERSON (Producing Artistic Director) joined Tuacahn in 2004 and enjoys creatively shaping and artistically leading this dynamic arts institution. He has worked for more than forty years in theatre, film, radio and television. He has been involved in over 100 productions as an actor, director or producer but considers his eighteen years at Tuacahn to be one of his most satisfying challenges. Scott’s more recent directing credits include: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Prince of Egypt, Shrek the Musical, Disney’s When You Wish, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Tarzan, Annie, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Les Misérables and Peter Pan. Both Aladdin and The Prince of Egypt were produced at Tuacahn pre-Broadway and pre-West End. Disney’s When You Wish had its world premiere here at Tuacahn in 2015. He also wrote and directed the acclaimed motion picture The Best Two Years and more recently The Jerk Theory. He continues to work as a writer and director and is always working on new film projects. Scott attended Dixie State University and the University of Utah, where he studied Theater and Film. He is the proud father of three children and twelve grandchildren. Scott hopes to shepherd more outstanding entertainment to this unique venue in the years to come.
ALAN COATS (Director/Choreographer) is delighted to finally have the opportunity to work at Tuacahn Center For The Arts. This marks his seventh holiday production of the classic Rudolph since it’s premiere in 2014. His work
has taken him around the globe including Saudi Arabia where he directed & choreographed Peter Pan as well as Dreamgirls in Tokyo. In the U.S., Alan’s work has been seen at Seattle 5th Avenue Theatre, Casa Manana, Houston’s Theatre
Under the Stars, Artpark, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Paper Mill Playhouse, Music Theatre of Wichita, numerous concerts and industrials, and even the Library of Congress. Alan directed and choreographed 15 productions of Crazy for You across the U.S., including the award winning production at South Bay Civic Light Opera which was honored with an Ovation Award in Los Angeles for Best Musical Theater Production. The Bay Area Outer Critics Circle awarded him a Best Production award for his staging of Me & My Girl for the San Jose Civic Light Opera. His association with The North Carolina Theatre includes over fifty productions spanning performing, directing, choreographing, costuming, and stage management since 1983. FAITH BROWN (Costume Coordinator) has been working behind the scenes on costumes here at Tuacahn since 2018, the first show she worked on with Tuacahn was Matilda. In 2021 she started working at Tuacahn year round. Working professionally on costumes since 2013, she has worked at other performing art companies and theatres in their costume shops. These include Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Opera Theatre St. Louis, Little Theatre on the Square, and Louisville Ballet.

KEVIN SMITH (CEO & Executive Producer) has been with Tuacahn for over 20 years. He has produced or co-produced more than 60 professional Broadway musical productions, as part of Tuacahn’s Broadway in the Canyon theater series and has presented more than 550 major professional concerts and events. Kevin has a BS in Sociology with a minor in Business Management from Brigham Young University and a Master of Education Degree from Southern Utah University. He serves on the Greater Zion Tourism Advisory Board and on the Zions Bank Regional Advisory Board. Kevin would like to dedicate this season to his late wife, Rebecca, who passed away from cancer last year. She was one of Tuacahn’s greatest fans! Kevin has four children, two daughters-in-law and a granddaughter. Kevin recently married Liz Erickson who has six children, two sons-in-law and three grandchildren, making a combined family of 20 between the two of them.

SHARI JORDAN (Associate Artistic Producer/ Casting Coordinator) from Raleigh, NC, began her professional career as an actor in the National Tour of Crazy for You (Tess). She performed at Tuacahn for nine seasons and was the Dance captain for 17 shows. Tuacahn audiences may remember Shari as Rosie in Mama Mia!, the Mother in the World Premier of Disney’s When You Wish, Mama Bear in Shrek, and Madame in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Shari performed the role of Ulla and every other female role in Mel Brooks’ The Producers on the Broadway National Tour as well as the Las Vegas production with Tony Danza and David Hasselhoff. Shari was an assistant choreographer to five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman for the historic Hollywood Bowl’s production of The Producers and performed the role of Shirley Markowitz. She is also in the film of The Producers. Shari was a Radio City Rockette for six seasons and a national champion baton twirler. Director/ Choreographer/Assistant credits include The Stage Door, Hollywood Bowl, University of Michigan, Pittsburgh CLO, North Shore Music Theatre, North Carolina Theatre and TNT’s Emmy winning AFI’s Tribute to Mel Brooks in which Shari had a featured role. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of N.C. State University. Shari produced her first Tuacahn season in 2019 and loves bringing professional theatre to Southern Utah. Her passion stems from the desire to put artists to work and bring joy to others that can only be found working on or watching a live performance. Theatre is a noble profession. ZOE BAIRD (Company Manager) from London, England is thrilled to be at Tuacahn for her seventh season. Graduating with a degree in Drama and Theater Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London she has followed her theatrical nose out to St. George, UT! Zoe has worked for the Ambassador Theater Group in the West End, alongside being an Event’s Manager across London. Some of her favorite credits to date are: Fat Pig, The Brit Awards, The London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, The What’s On Stage Awards, Tuacahn: Tarzan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Newsies, Matilda, The Prince of Egypt, Fairytale Christmas and ELF. JONATHAN KATZIAS (Production Manager) As an East Coast native, Jonathan is thrilled to have traveled this far to finally see the west, partner with Tuacahn, and make theater magic! Previously working with ShowMotion Inc. one of the largest technical solution providers in live entertainment Jonathan has worked on over 50 NY Broadway shows; most notably: The Music Man, Company, Beetlejuice, Flying Over Sunset, Tootsie, Mean Girls, West Side Story, Pretty Woman, To Kill a Mockingbird, Carousel, Angels in America, and Tina Turner the Musical. “I thank God for the opportunity to wake up every day and do what I love. ALEXA HAMBLIN (Asst. Production Manager) is proud to have grown up at Tuacahn Amphitheater. She was the Prop Master for several years and was happy to join the Production Management team in early 2022. She’s spent a lifetime working with and learning from her father who was the Technical Director at Tuacahn Center for the Arts for 15 years. She is incredibly grateful for the professional and personal growth that she’s gained from working here for the last eight seasons. DUSTIN GIBSON (Technical Director - Scenic) is proud to return to Tuacahn as the Technical Director. He has spent the last two years serving as the Assistant Technical Director under the direction of long time Tuacahn pillar, Wes Hamblin, and is honored to accept the passing of the torch for the upcoming season. Gibson has been instrumental in the technical development of other notable works at Tuacahn including Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Million Dollar Quartet, and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.
JEFF MILLER (Technical Director – Audio & Visual) has been working in professional theater for over 30 years. Prior to Tuacahn he was in Las Vegas where he spent several years with Cirque Du Soleil’ s The Beatles LOVE show at the Mirage. Jeff has also worked for many regional theaters around the country, including 18 years with The Seattle Children’s Theater. Besides helping create incredible shows at Tuacahn, Jeff enjoys exploring the desert and mountains with his wife and 2 kids.
