Doc originated the role of Muskrat, written for him by his friend Fred Alley. Co-founder of Door County’s Northern Sky Theater, Doc has authored and co-authored two dozen musicals including Belgians in Heaven, Hell’s Belgians, and Packer Fans from Outer Space (with Lee Becker and James Kaplan), Guys & Does (with Lee Becker and Paul Libman), and Ya Ya, You Betcha! (with Paul Sills). Doc is Professor Emeritus at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University and teaches at Medical College of Wisconsin. When this show closes, he’ll head west to ski with his beloved wife Jody.

Molly Rhode Rosemary Rogers
Molly is a Wisconsin native and splits her time between Milwaukee and Door County, where she serves as Associate Artistic Director of Northern Sky Theater and has helped bring over twenty World Premieres to the stage. Past Milwaukee Rep credits include The Front Page, Mill on the Floss, A Christmas Carol, and a full season internship in 2000/01 when she was fresh out of college. Molly is also a director and choreographer, the co-author of Girls On Sand, and is on the leadership team of World Premiere Wisconsin. She loves making art in our great state.
Chase Stoeger Moonlight
Chase is very excited to be making his Milwaukee Repertory Theater debut with Lumberjacks in Love! He is a Milwaukee native, with a BFA in Theater from UW Whitewater. He just finished his 18th season at Northern Sky Theater in Door County. You might have seen him in town performing at Skylight Music Theatre, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Next Act Theatre, First Stage, Milwaukee Shakespeare, In Tandem Theatre, and Bialystock and Bloom. Jeff Herbst
Director/ Original Choreography
Jeff has been artistic director for Northern Sky Theater since 1993. At Milwaukee Rep, he appeared in Shine on
Harvest Moon and A Woman in Mind. He went on to direct Goodnight Irene: The Music of the Weavers in 1997, which was followed by the original production of Guys on Ice, Old Friends: The Music of Paul Simon, The One that Got Away, and Lumberjacks in Love. His work at Northern Sky has resulted in over eighty world premiere productions. He and Fred Alley were honored in 2017 with the Distinguished Alumni Award from their alma mater Mount Horeb High School for their work in creating original musical theater.
James Kaplan Music Director/Keyboard
James is thrilled to return to Milwaukee Rep, where he has appeared in Lumberjacks in Love, The Bachelors and The One That Got Away, along with several iterations of Guys on Ice. Besides these collaborations with the late Fred Alley, James also endeavored with Jacinda Duffin and Laurie Flanigan-Hegge to create Loose Lips Sink Ships, which premiered at Northern Sky Theater in Door County, and played at Marquette University. His music has been heard in See Jane Vote, Belgians in Heaven, Bone Dance, Northern Lights, Fool Me Once, Packer Fans from Outer Space, and Hell’s Belgians. He also conceived and created musical arrangements for two other Stackner Cabaret shows, Old Friends: The Music of Paul Simon, and Goodnight Irene: The Music of the Weavers.
Pam Kriger Original Choreography
Pam has directed and/or choreographed for Northern Sky Theater since the year 2000 and has worked closely with Jeff Herbst much of that time. A favorite moment was when Milwaukee Rep was producing Lumberjacks in Love and wanted it to be two acts. That required more music and more staging. Jeff called and asked me to help with the new material and I am proud to have added my two cents to his already wonderful choreography. Enjoy!

Ms. Schlenker is delighted to be back at Milwaukee Rep. She is Northern Sky Theater’s Resident Designer and Production Manager. For over three decades Lisa has devoted time and passion to advancing skills in prop making, scenic design, and production management. Mark Clements Director
Mark is an award-winning international theater director whose work has appeared in over 100 major theaters throughout Europe and the United States. He began his tenure as Artistic Director with the 2010/11 Season by bringing musicals to the mainstage, starting a tradition that is now the highlight of every season. Mark has directed over 30 productions at Milwaukee Rep including World and American Premieres, his own adaptation of the current A Christmas Carol and all but one mainstage musical including Run Bambi Run, Titanic the Musical, West Side Story and Dreamgirls. Prior to joining Milwaukee Rep, Mark served as an Associate Artistic Director for several UK theater companies, most notably, Artistic Director for
the award-winning Derby Playhouse in the UK where he directed over 40 productions. He has been nominated for an Olivier Award and several UK Theatre Awards, and has won three Barrymore Awards in Philadelphia. He created and directed the West End and UK National Tour of Soul Train. Mark is currently working with Ayad Akhtar on adapting his critically acclaimed novel American Dervish for the stage to make its World Premiere in an upcoming season. He is also co-writing The Craic, making its World Premiere in the Stackner Cabaret later this season.
Chad Bauman Executive Director
Chad joined Milwaukee Rep in 2013. Since, the theater has produced more than 130 productions, raised nearly $100 million through 3 capital campaigns, launched a new A Christmas Carol and the Jack Lewis New Play Development Program, began construction on the Associated Bank Theater Center and quadrupled net assets operating without a deficit for 11 years. Bauman has been named Top 40 under 40 by the Milwaukee Business Journal, a Champion of the Hispanic Community by the United Community Center, and a notable LGBTQ Executive and Non-Profit CEO of the Year by Milwaukee BizTimes. He is a doctoral student in Organizational Leadership at UNC Chapel Hill and a graduate of Brown University’s Leadership Coaching Program, Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives in Non-Profit Management Program, and CalArt’s MFA Producing Program.
