FIRST reflection

Page 1

For the second part of our FIRST exercise, Meg and I exchanged various components from our Project_1.1. I ended up making two different interpretations that used three different components found in her book. While looking through her book, I found myself really drawn to all of the different textures that she incorporated with her photographs, which to me really gave those pictures as sense of place. So when I was making my spreads, I was very interested in incorporation of texture and how it intermixes with the image. After making both interpretations, Meg preferred the first one, with the highly saturated colors, but I found myself more drawn to the second one, with the lighter colors, and the closer-‐up images. I do think it’s interesting to compare the two interpretations together. Although the same image was used to create the textured surfaced of the pictures, just the different coloring creates such different feels when looking at them. I really enjoyed Meg’s remake of a spread from my Project_1.1. The two images she chose to combine were my two favorite images from my project. I think that the overlay of the pearl necklace over the letter really tie the two objects together, and I can really feel the sense of intimacy that I was trying to portray throughout my project in Meg’s remake. With the transparency of the necklace and the faded words, I really feel a sense of the loss that I was trying to emanate originally. I think Meg did a really good job re-‐interpreting it.
