about the projects . . . ARC 3001

ARC 3002

ARC 3001 studio introduces students to a complex building function in an urban context, where problems with urban regeneration and new designs are explored. Relationship between an individual building and the city, exploration of private and public realm are the topics to tackle with. Applying new ideas rooted in ecology and sustainability are enriching the discipline of architecture and active forms are reshaping cities in general and shared spaces in relevant locales.

ARC 3002 studio examines the role of public buildings in collective social life, through its multifaceted perspective in a complex urban and historical environment. The studio addresses the complexity of the discipline through its various issues, such as site conditions, accessibility, environmental- social- and economic sustainability, structural integrity, construction technologies, the use of materials, legal codes & standards, and architectural representation, integrating these issues in the design process.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN III

8

In the ARC 3001 studio , students are asked to design open spaces and buildings that constitute facilities for research focused on a certain subject. The design consists of open spaces and buildings, dealing with problems related to the continuity of urban spaces and the relation of new design to the development of the city. The use of materials, structural integrity, sustainability, efficient use of energy, and every aspect of contemporary architectural design in an urban context are areas of interest for the studio.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN IV

In the ARC 3002 studio, students work on a complex architectural problem in an area within undefined or problematic spaces in the historic centre of the city, which includes the adaptive reuse of a group of inactive buildings. The design consists of open spaces and buildings, dealing with problems related to the continuity of urban spaces, the relation of new uses to existing functions in the area, and the relation of new design to the development of the city.
