This window is designed for considering aspects of light and focusing on Black & White Stripes. I was inspired by a sequin dress and black & white stripes from the fall fashion trend. Main materials for this window are Vinyl Cut, Plexiglas, a abstractive female Mannequin, and backlighting. The Mannequin stands with her legs spread out, with one hand along the side of her body with hers menting the face. The lighting creates a dark contrast and a dark shadow on the left side of the body. The spot light, focused directly on the mannequin, reinforces emphasis on the product, which is the dress. The design hearkens back to the era when the West Side of Manhattan was America's premier working waterfront. Design Programs "[The High Line's design] creates a seamless blend of new and old, one rooted in the themes of decay and renewal that have long captivated the imagination of urban thinkers" –Nicolai Ouroussoff, the New York Times, 2004. Learn about the High Line's innovative design, created by landscape architects James Corner Field Operations and architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
