We all have those moments. You

stand and stare at your wardrobe. You close it. You open it. You’re there waiting for that perfect outfit to magically manifest inside the closet. It’s not going to happen. You know very well that you’re just going to end up wearing the same outfit you wore last weekend. It’s pretty much a guaranteed fact of life. There is always in your life going to be at least one time when you actually have nothing to wear. Well, that was the same for the designers at Elliott Label, until they decided to change these laws of the fashion universe, not only for themselves but thankful fashionistas around the world. The Australian fashion label created in 2011, really does dance to the beat of it’s own drum. Think Kate Moss drinking White Chocolate Passionfruit cocktails with Bridgette Bardot, while Christine Centenera plays door bitch and Cara Delvigne takes over the dance floor. The Elliott Label club takes fashion rules and makes them their own with every piece. With a background in business management and textiles, it wasn’t long until the two fused together and found themselves breaking fashion rules and establishing themselves as the grungy Elliott Label that we all yearn over with each collection. The brand started its journey humbly enough, with small capsule

collections that echoed the travels of the design team. Their launch summer collection portrayed the relaxed nature of the Balinese culture; free spirited and effortless. It is perhaps this effortless style that is the one constant for the design aesthetic of the brand. Comfortable and easy, the brand continues to remind us all that you can look good while being comfortable at the same time. Elliott Label pieces are produced with a confident statement and attitude, you can expect nothing less than that with every piece that they create. There’s nothing too pretty or girly in the established collections, rather a more effortless cool with the occasional feminine piece thrown in that softens the mood and adds balance to Elliot’s seamless production. It wasn’t until Elliott Label met Los Angeles however that things really shifted into full gear. The Elliott team spent most of 2012 in LA, and really, can you blame them for being inspired? The hills, Venice- Abbot Kinney, Santa Monica, Shopping on Melrose, the inspiration of this city lends to itself. Add in the fact that Mexico is a 90min flight away and Disneyland less than a day away, the city’s diversity effortlessly echoes through Elliott Label’s designs. The versatility of their pieces allows the Elliott client to dress up or dress down. Dress according to your mood. 23 / MINC / JULY

The pieces stand alone or layer up perfectly together to make any girl feel like she

has her own personal stylist hiding away in the wardrobe. Elliott strive to create trans-seasonal pieces. Leather, typically a more expensive investment material, is a main player when it comes to Elliott’s fashion game, and for this reason the design team have gone to great lengths to ensure that their clients can wear pieces all year round. They create pieces that are accessible and different. They are conscious of what their clients want and, perhaps more importantly, what their wallets can afford. Elliott Label make being a fashion icon accessible to everyone, no matter how oversized your leather croc wallet may or may not be. The edgy and confident label, flawlessly provides it’s clients with grungy sophistication, and empowers them to bring their own style to every piece. After all, tomboys can be fashionistas too. A Day in the Life of this inspiring label, leaves no room to catch your breath, however there is always time to fit in a Chai Latte. In fact, the Elliott Label team are probably the hardest working team that I have ever known. Like the best VIP events, Elliott Label’s days usually go well into the wee hours. Overseeing and performing each and every task themselves, the day is full of emails, social media, stock drop offs, meeting with stylists, order packing and posting, designing/ drawing, collaboration meetings, interactions with production, and the endless “to do” list continues to grow. You will never hear complaint from the team though. Mad as hatters they might be, they ensure the upmost attention to detail from creation to delivery, another key point of difference which helps to continue to grow the loyal, already established fan base. Being Melbourne based, the Elliott label team has already featured in some of Australia’s’ most coveted publications, including Fashion Journal and the Herald Sun, with the new adventures to our NZ Neighbours, there’s no stopping this label. In fact, this is just the beginning. Their latest collection captivated the fashion world with it’s quilted leather, croc embossed minis and every wardrobe’s must have, just ask the trend setters “They All Hate Us”, the perfect leather harness. As the brand continues to grow from strength to strength, you can’t help but wonder, “what next” for this fashion forward, trendsetting label. With sights set on the US, it’s only a matter of time before the Elliott Label brand brings their game to a another level with worldwide domination. They continue to move forward playing by no-one’s rules but their own; “There aren’t any rules, it comes down to one’s style and confidence”, a thought that continues to resonate through Elliott Label’s flawless designs and perfected execution.
