Suspect in reporter’s slay attempt gives up By RUEL PELONE Editor in chief

CAGAYAN de Oro City––One of the two suspects, who allegedly tried to kill a radio anchorman here on the eve of November 24, surrendered to police authorities in Jasaan town in Misamis Oriental yesterday.

Sr. Supt. Graciano Mijares, head of Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office (Moppo), said Baldemero Pajo surrendered to Jasaan police station in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental with the help of Lt. Col. Romeo Gapuz of the 403rd brigade. Pajo turned himself in to police authorities Tuesday after his name was linked to the slay attempt on dxIF-Bombo Radyo chief of reporters and Zona-Libre anchor James Licuanan. Licuanan positively identified Pajo through the gallery of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo). Zubiri withdraws libel cases vs journos

MALAYBALAY City––After seven long years, the four libel cases which Bukidnon Governor now Vice Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri Jr. filed against Edgardo Maliza and his son, Loui, were ordered dismissed by a lower court judge last Wednesday not because of the merits of the cases but of the plaintiff ’s withdrawal. KIDAPAWAN City––Some 49 tons of fresh water fish were found dead in South Cotabato’s Lake Sebu and Philippine fishery authorities blamed pollution and overcrowded cages and pens as the cause of the kill. Authorities said most of the fishes in Lake Sebu were tilapia, a favorite among many Filipinos, and a staple

to many in Mindanao region because of their cheap prices. Tilapia products from the area are sold in wet markets in the region, which covers the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and North Cotabato and the cities of General Santos, Cotabato, Koronadal, Tacurong,

Cotabato and Kidapawan. The Bureau of Fisheries and Department of Agriculture warned the public not to buy the dead fishes or eat them because they are not fit anymore for human consumption. BUTUAN City––Four dump truck passengers were killed and three others were injured when the vehicle sideswiped a tricycle and ploughed through a house in Cabiles Subdivision, Barangay Telaje, Tandag City on Monday afternoon.
