DILG asks electoral reforms for Armm By CRIS DIAZ Associate Editor
THE Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) needs electoral reforms in line with the administration’s desire for transparency, a top official of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said. Interior Secretary Jesse M. Robredo said ARMM also needs new list of registered voters and a review of assignments of elections officers especially those suspected to have been involved in past election anomalies. Robredo said he asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to implement these electoral reforms and to conduct of voters’ education in ARMM covered provinces and cities. KORONADAL City––At least 294 farm families in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat will have better chances of increasing their harvest and income with a new irrigation system to serve them. Just recently, officials of the National Irrigation Administration turned over to Alip-Lumaga-Malingen Communal Irrigators Association, Inc. the Alip –Lumaga Communal Irrigation System (CIS) which covers 608 hectares in Barangay Poblacion. Evelyn Bragasin, NIA 12’s public relations officer said, the project costs P2.5 million to build.

DAVAO City––The Davao City Central 911 Emergency Response Center has urged Dabawenyos to have grab-kits in their homes and in their offices as part of disaster preparedness. “Let us have grab kits ready in our homes and offices,” says 911 chief Ver Monsanto. According to Monsanto a grab kit is a bag which includes spare clothes, blankets, food and water. In case of disaster like flooding evacuating individuals can use these grab kits to sustain them until help arrives.

CAGAYAN de Oro City––An estimated 1,060 volunteers of Kagay-anon Kami Katimbayayong Mo Misamisnon (KKK) conducted a new wave of clean-up in the city.
