DAVAO City––Numerous complaints from women being teased by the fastbecoming popular phrase “salad oh, init pa” have irked Mayor Sara DuterteCarpio here recently. Duterte urged women to report to the police when mocked with using the phrase. In a press briefing at the City Hall, the mayor wanted to put on the police blotter all incidents related to what she deemed as malicious words against women. The statement of Mayor Duterte came after a report that his father, Vice Mayor

Rodrigo Duterte denied of issuing an order to lockup all persons found to have spoken the words to women. However, the mayor claimed she has no idea on what case shall be filed against those who have uttered “salad oh, init pa” to a woman. Duterte said the people should evolve into higher SALAD/PAGE 9

BUTUAN City––A 23-yearold man stabbed dead his drunk elder brother who attempted to burn their house in Barangay Sayon, Sta. Josefa, Agusan del Sur shortly after midnight on Tuesday. Authorities said the incident happened at around 12:05 when Eddie Bert Asuncion was trying to pacify his brother, Edgar, 36, who was “under the influence of liquor.” When Eddie Bert prevented Edgar from setting on fire their house and a chainsaw machine, the latter turned on the former instead. The ensuing fistfight prompted Eddie Bert to allegedly stab Edgar dead, police said. BROTHER/PAGE 9

arrest took place in the presence of ACT Teachers Party-List Rep. Antonio Tinio who, at that time, was meeting with Mesina along with organizers of the local chapter of ACT Teachers Party-List. They had just come from a consultation

with public school teachers. Mesina has been charged with frustrated murder of a certain Ernesto Belen, a barangay captain of Luga, Sta. Teresita, Cagayan. She was detained overnight at the Tuguegarao City CHARGES/PAGE 9
