Bradley wins! FANS and spectators including international celebrities took to social networking site Twitter to express their disbelief and disappointment with the split decision loss of pound-for-pound boxing champion Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao to Timothy Bradley. It was Pacquiao’s first loss since 2005 against Mexican boxer Erick Morales. Bradley remains unbeaten and now the new WBO Welterweight boxing champion, thepoc.net reported on its website after the fight yesterday. TIMOTHY BRADLEY won the WBO welterweight title from Manny Pacquiao via split decision despite appearing second best to the eight-division world champion on the night. Pacquiao weathered an exciting start from the undefeated challenger in the opening two rounds and wore the American down throughout the middle portion of the contest and had Bradley seriously reeling after six.

Bradley would show great resilience and edge some of the later rounds after going back to basics and working the jab from distance, but there appeared to be no confusion amongst the live attendance or either camp as to who was the better man. It came as a shock when the judges’ scorecards all read 115 to 113 - with two of the three in favour of the new champion. Bradley’s performance would have no doubt raised

his stock even in defeat, but the unexpected nod from the men in charge of the final outcome is destined to catapault ‘Desert Storm’ to even greater heights. His first order of business could well be an immediate rematch: Pacquiao has a clause in the fight contract, and both fighters expressed a willingness to settle things once and for all in a return bout in their post-fight interviews. “I’ve got to give Manny a

rematch,” Bradley admitted. “I know the fans weren’t happy with the result and I’ve got to give Manny his chance to win the title back. “I caught my second wind after the sixth round. I kept sticking and moving with my jab and caught him with clean shots. “Manny is very fast and very hard but I have strong legs and my will to win prevailed. “My corner told me that BRADLEY/PAGE 11

ONE NETWORK BANK, also known as ONB, is a rural bank based in Davao City in the Philippines. Formed in 2004 through the consolidation of Network Rural Bank of Davao del Sur, the Rural Bank of Panabo of Davao del Norte and the Provident Rural Bank of Cotabato, ONB is the largest rural bank in the Philippines in terms of assets, with a network of 81 branches and 106 ATMs (as of April 2012) throughout the provinces of Mindanao, including seventeen localities where it is the sole provider of financial services. It is the first rural bank in the Philippines to receive the nod of the Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC) to establish a checking account, as well as

to have its cheques cleared directly by the PCHC, instead of an intermediary bank. It is also an equity member of MegaLink, one of the first banks in Mindanao to join an interbank network. One Network Rural Bank Inc. reported earnings results for the first half of 2010. For the period, the company earned PHP 136 million in net income, or 32% more compared with the same period last year. This was mainly because of the company’s PHP 700 million investment in government bonds. The company is expecting lending revenues to increase, with estimates showing salary loans to public school teachers and loans for businesses rising LEADER/PAGE 11

Six boat crewmen injured fighting blaze in Tawi-Tawi By AL JACINTO, Regional Editor-Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA City––Six Filipino crewmen of a burning motor launch were injured while trying to put out the blaze in the vessel’s engine room in Sitangkai Island in the southern Philippine province of Tawi-Tawi, police said Sunday. Police said the fire broke out while the ML Nursiba, owned by Ibno Kadil, was moored in the pier. “We are still investigating the cause of the fire, but six crewmen were injured while trying to put out the blaze,” Senior Superintendent Rodelio Jocson, the provincial police chief, told the Mindanao Examiner. He said police rushed the wounded crew to the hospital. It was not immediately known whether the motor launch is registered with the Maritime Industry Authority or not, but it was use to bring passengers BLAZE/PAGE 11
