Casiño berates ‘Psalm’ on losses LAWMAKER Teddy Casiño yesterday slammed the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) over its claim that it had incurred P15 billion merely for operating the National Power Corp.’s (Napocor) Mindanao generation group from 2001-2011. Casiño said he will be filing a resolution next week to investigate PSALM’s claim of losses, adding that he suspects the figures are being manipulated to justify the sale of the money-making Agus and Pulangui hydropower plants. “What P15 billion losses are you talking about?” Casiño asked adding, “it is just another pretext for power rate hikes.” “Malamang may gusto nanamang kumita at LOSSES/PAGE 6

THE city government of Butuan has declared May 10, 2012 as Day of Mourning for the 17 people who died in the Wednesday fire that destroyed Novo Jeans and Shirts Department Store and five other business establishments on Montilla Boulevard, Barangay Humabon here. Acting Mayor Lawrence Lemuel Fortun signed Wednesday Proclamation No. 02, Series of 2012 directing all public institutions to lower the Philippine flag to half-mast in observance of the Day of Mourning. Also on the same day,

an ecumenical service was held for the fire victims in front of the Butuan branch of the Bank of the Philippine Islands near the fire scene at 5 in the afternoon. The fatalities, all stay-in employees of Novo MOURNING/PAGE 7
