LTFRB turns back PUJ fare to P7.50 Killing of ‘green’ activist in B’non alarmed bishop MALAYBALAY City––A Catholic bishop has expressed alarm over the killing of an environmental activist in Bukidnon province last week as he called on authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. Malaybalay Bishop Jose Cabantan said the murder last Wednesday of Margarita Cabal of Task Force Save Pulangi River is the latest of the spate of killings that have been happening in the province. “We condemn of the series of killings here in Bukidnon… not just the environmentalists because many people here are being killed. Criminalities are going on,” Cabantan told Church-run Radyo Veritas on Monday. Cabal was shot and killed by still unidentified gunman. The victim was a known leader of a campaign against the construction of a hydroelectric dam on the Pulangi River. CAGAYAN de Oro City––Following the recent increase of 50 centavos to the minimum fare charged by public utility jeepneys in Cagayan de Oro, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Region 10 said the minimum fare should now be reverted from P8 to P7.50 effective the other day. LTFRB regional director Mandangan Darimbang said the reduction is a result of a price decrease for diesel implemented by oil companies nationwide. said New People’s Army rebels freed Police Officer 2 Faizahl Juhaili in the village of Kanipaan in Zamboanga del Sur’s Bayog town on Tuesday. “Faisahl has been freed and we are continuing our
operation against the rebels,” Barcena told the Mindanao Examiner. Juhaili was seized by rebels on April 9 following a raid in Tigbao town. Jorge Madlos, a spokesman for the NPA, said they
