(Mindanao Examiner Photo) ZAMBOANGA CITY – Over 200 delegates from the Muslim autonomous region and Western Mindanao gathered here recently for an orientation and membership seminar conducted by the PRD National Volunteers Foundation (PRRDNVF) in partnership with the National Interfaith Council of the Philippines (NICOPHIL) headed by Bishop Ruben O. Lambojon, and Kapatiran Kristiyano at Muslim-Pilipino Nagkakaisa para kay Duterte (KAKAMPI NI DUTERTE) led by Chuck Salapuddin, its Secretary-General, two of the parallel groups that supported the presidential campaign of the former Davao City mayor. The delegates came all the way from the Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao, and Lanao del Sur, including Lamitan and Isabela cities in the autonomous region and Zamboanga Sibugay,

Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte. The seminar was held at the Marcian Business Hotel. Aside from the orientation for the new volunteers for PRRDNVF, the gathering was also intended to promote understanding on different programs of the Duterte administration and to show strong support for President Rodrigo Duterte against any ouster plot by the opposition. The participating delegates have been selected based on their demonstrated leadership skills and commitment on anti-drug campaign, corruption and criminality as well as terrorism which are the core programs of the Duterte administration. Organizers said through seminar such as this, the delegates gained a better understanding of various government programs and activities aimed at uplifting the welfare of the Filipino people. The death sentence was handed down to prevent a clan war between the families of the men and their victims. Clan war is not uncommon in the Muslim region. One comment reads: “Ang kasalanan po ng mga namatay ay nakapatay po ng tao. Dahil hindi sila napatawad ng pamilya ng pinatay nila ay kamatayan rin po ang kabayaran. Ang isa po dun (ay) para maiwasan lumala pa ang

rido (clan war).” It was not the first time the MILF executed criminals found guilty by their Shariah court. The rebel group also publicly hanged 3 men in the restive regions in the past. There was no immediate statement from the authorities, but the clip has gone viral after it was shared on Facebook on January 3. The Ansarul Khilafah also released last year a video of the Islamic State’s Alhayat Media Center which shows the Philippines as among countries in Southeast Asia they were planning to expand its caliphate. ship, MV Lorcon Iloilo, passing near Basilan rescued the wounded sailor and provided him first aid. The Abu Sayyaf is also holding over a dozen Malaysian and Indonesian sailors in the restive region. President Rodrigo Duterte, who visited Kuala Lumpur last year, has allowed Malaysia to enter the country’s southern border in hot pursuit of Abu Sayyaf rebels and kidnap gangs following the slew of ransom kidnappings in Sabah just near the Muslim province of Tawi-Tawi. Manila also allowed Indonesia to do the same following the spate of Abu Sayyaf attacks on its tugboats in Sabah and Tawi-Tawi. The seminar, organizers said, is designed to enhance understanding and capabilities for volunteerism among the peace-loving Filipinos, especially the youth by developing a network of leaders and volunteers in Mindanao who overwhelmingly supported and continue to support the presidency of Duterte whatever happens. Since its organization by NICOPHIL and KAKAMPI NI DUTERTER,

the PRRDNVF has enabled over a million current and future volunteers to protect the presidency of Duterte and help government in its anti-drug and corruption campaigns, among others. PRRDNVF currently operates activities and plans for volunteers not only in Mindanao, but from all over the country. At the end of the seminar, the participants have endorsed the appointment of civic leader Yusoph Mando to the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) as its Secretary. Bishop Ruben O. Lambojon, NICOPHIL Chairman and President; and Chandler Salappudin, Secretary General of the KAKAMPI NI DUTERTE, also praised and endorsed Mando. In a letter dated January

TECH TIPS: 2 Tips On How To Protect Your Phone If It Gets Stolen IT’S YOUR most precious possession, your pride and joy...but do you really take care of your Android phone as well as you could? Putting it in a case isn't enough. Ask yourself, "If my phone was lost or stolen right now, would my data be protected, and would I be able to locate the device?" If the answer is no, these tips are for you. Use a lock scr een screen We know: using lock screens used to be a pain in the backside when all you wanted to do was see if you’d received any email. But now that you can use lock screen widgets there’s no reason not to lock your phone properly with a code, fingerprint, gesture or face. Newer Android devices come with fingerprint scanners for a good reason: they keep your device secure, and are conveniently quick. When even Google’s own app store is plagued with problematic apps, it’s very sensible to be suspicious about any download site or service you don’t already know and trust. That’s not to say new sources are bad. Just choose them wisely. Use messengers with encr yption encryption If your device encryption is on by default - that is, scrambling your data in such a way it can’t just be copied and looked at that doesn’t mean the data you send over the internet is encrypted. To ensure your communications are private, use an encrypted platform such as Telegram rather than unencrypted alternatives. Install updates Sometimes app updates are minor things that make no noticeable difference to anything at all, but sometimes those updates contain essential fixes for security problems that you can’t see but that potential attackers can. People who don’t update to the latest versions remain vulnerable, so it’s a very good idea to stay up to date with app and Android updates. RECIPE: Pork Tenderloin Salpicao

– 1 lb. pork tenderloin – 5 to 7 cloves garlic, crushed – ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil – ½ teaspoon salt

– ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper – 2 tablespoons unsalted butter – 5 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce – 2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1) Slice the pork tenderloin into cubes. Set aside. 2) Combine olive oil, salt, and ground black pepper. Stir and then add the crushed garlic. Mix well. 3) Put the cubed pork in a bowl and pour the olive oil mixture, but strain the garlic using a fork or spoon (we will cook the garlic separately). Fold the pork and make sure that all are coated with olive oil. Let it stay for 20 to 30 minutes. This will let the pork absorb the oil along with the flavors infused in it. 4) Heat a pan. Once hot, add the garlic with the remaining oil. Cook until it turns brown. You may add up to 1 teaspoon of oil if needed (do this only if you think that more oil is needed to cook the garlic). Transfer the browned garlic in a bowl. 5) Continue to heat the pan with the remaining oil. Add the oil-marinated pork (including the oil). Stir-fry (in high heat) until the pork turns brown. 6) Add half of the browned garlic. Stir. Add the Worcestershire sauce and oyster sauce. Continue to cook in high heat until the sauce completely evaporates. 7) Add the butter. Continue to cook until it melts. 8) Transfer to a serving plate. Top with remaining garlic. 9) Serve. Filipinos envision better living in 2040 CEBU CITY - A recent survey has revealed that majority of the Filipinos see a predominantly middle class society where no one is poor in the year 2040. During the recent launching of “Ambisyon Natin 2040”, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Director Efren Carreon reported highlights of the survey on the Filipinos' vision for themselves and the country in the next 25 years. as there will be majority middle income families. Filipinos then will enjoy long and healthy lives, are smart and innovative and will live in a high trust society. They also see themselves to be able to plan and prepare for their children’s future and the families live in a place they own. Other than that, they will also have the freedom to go where they desire and are protected by a clean, efficient and fair government. Carreon said these are merely visions and ideals, and it is now up to the agencies both private and public to strategize for the plans.
