Robredo-Sara tandem pushed

Continued from page 1 presidential candidate of former senator and namesake of Dictator Ferdinand Marcos. Both belong to different political parties – Robredo with the Liberal Party and Duterte is with Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats. Climaco was with Congressmen Joey Salceda and Rufus Rodriguez in Cagayan de Oro City on March 21 to promote the ROSA 2022 tandem. The trio also held a news conference at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City and a campaign rally later in the day. It was unclear if there were other politicians or groups behind the ROSA 2022 tandem campaign apart from Climaco’s group. “VP Leni and Mayor Inday are both empowered women. Pareho silang hindi iniwan ang

Zamboanga City at tinulungan kami lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya. VP Leni instituted Angat Buhay livelihood programs in Mindanao at diyan ko nakita ang pagmamahal niya sa bayan at ang kanyang abilidad na masolusyonan ang problema ng kahirapan. Si VP Leni hindi rin nakalimot sa Zamboanga City sa panahon ng pandemya. Nagpadala siya ng mga PPEs, launched E-Consulta and gave Covid Care kits for our covid positive patients,” Climaco said. “Like VP Leni, is another woman - a daughter, a mother, a lawyer and Mayor of Davao City - si Inday Sara Duterte. She is a leader who is courageous in battle. Mayor Inday, like VP Leni, also helped Zamboanga City in the time of pandemic - whether it was the newborn screening tests for babies or the provision of

RT-PCR machines. Hindi niya kami iniwan. She also assisted victims of the (military) C130 plane crash (in Sulu province on July 4, 2021) and airlifted them from Zamboanga to Davao - she showed her dedication to help and left a mark on how a woman's passion for service like that of VP Leni can go out of their way to serve with a heart,” she added. Climaco said Zamboanga and Davao are sister cities and that Duterte considered her as a big sister. “Davao City is a Sister City of Zamboanga and I am Mayor Inday's Big Sister. She considers me as her Ate,” she said, recalling their trip to the United States two years ago. Even Duterte posted on her Facebook page in January about the trip – on the invitation by Washington for a series of lectures and meetings for the project “Strong Cities,

Climaco, reacting from Duterte’s social media post, said: “It was a wonderful experience to learn side by side with Mayor Inday. We look forward to a stronger, safer Zamboanga City where children and young people are given the opportunity to chase their dreams

and aspirations.” In 2020, Duterte facilitated the donation of two RT-PCR test machines, including 25,000 sets of disposable specimen sampling kits to the local government of Zamboanga City. The local governments of Davao and Zamboanga City also signed a sisterhood accord in July of the same year. The sisterhood agreement intends to create and fortify an open communicative atmosphere to induce a heightened exchange of ideas, particularly in the fields of tourism and culture, agriculture and trade and commerce. Sulu strengthens coffee industry

A provincial government photo shows Sulu Gov. Sakur Tan during a meeting with officers of the Sulu Coffee Industry Federation led by its secretary, Abdurajik Darusalam. Tan vows to support coffee farmers in the province which is a major supplier of coffee cherries in the country. Continued from page 1 the local coffee farmers in an effort to further strengthen the industry in the province which supplies organic coffee cherries to various buyers across the country. The province is popularly known for its coffee industry because of the high quality Arabica and Robusta beans it produces. Tan also donated a hand tractor and fencing wires to the Sulu Coffee Industry Federation and he committed to provide it with a variety of coffee seedlings to add to its productions – Arabica, Robusta, Excelsa, and Liberica which have radically different taste profiles. Abdurajik Darusalam, Secretary of the Sulu Coffee Industry Federation, said they are now targeting to plant more varieties of coffee beans in 250 hectares of agricultur-

Return to fold of the law, military tells rebels Continued from page 1 Rosario, Jr., chief of the Western Mindanao Command, made the call after dozens of rebels surrendered recently in Maguindanao province. “This massive surrender of former combatants proves that we are winning the war against terrorism and insurgency in our area of operation. If this will continue, we will soon be able to dismantle the terror groups and put an end to the threats posed by these menaces of society,” he said. Rosario said those who would surrender will be given livelihood aid and financial assistance for them to be able to start a new life. “All of us are hoping that those who are still hiding will decide to surrender and join us as we walk the path towards peace and development here in Mindanao,” he

said. Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander of the 6th Infantry Division and the anti-terror Joint Task Force Central (Mindanao), said at least 30 New People’s Army rebels have yielded and surrendered their weapons recently. He said another group of 33 members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and six from Dawlah Islamiya also yielded, adding that various units from 601st and 603rd Infantry Brigades were involved in the mass surrender of rebel forces. Among those who surrendered were field commanders and high-ranking rebel leaders of the three armed groups. “We are happy that they finally decided to come out and surrender together with their followers. They will receive livelihood assistance,” Uy said.

The rebels also surrendered various firearms, mostly high caliber automatic weapons and even grenades, anti-tank rocket launchers and sniper rifles. All those who surrendered were brought to the 6th Infantry Division headquarters in the town of Datu Odin Sinsuat, according to Uy. “They will all be processed as a routine measure,” he said. Rosario commended the soldiers under Uy and branded the mass surrender of rebels as a “laudable accomplishment.” “I commend the troops of Joint Task Force Central led by Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy for this laudable accomplishment. We also attribute this success to our partners, the local chief executives, and our stakeholders,” he said. (With a report from Mark Navales.)

al lands in the next five years. He said they have also established two pilot coffee farms in the towns of Talipao and two more in Indanan town. “We want to strengthen the local coffee industry by improving quality, increase productivity and train more farmers and provide livelihood to many people, and help the economy and promote good quality Kahawa Sug (Sulu coffee),” he said. Abdurajik said they plan to invest and expand its post-harvest facilities to improve production output. He also thanked Tan for his strong support and donations to the coffee industry. “Governor Tan is very supportive of the coffee industry and we thanked him for all his support to us,” he said. Tan previously launched a coffee pro-

cessing center in an effort to boost coffee production and eventually helped local cooperatives as part of a massive agricultural program that aims to provide additional livelihoods to farmers. He said Sulu is one of the major producers of high quality coffee beans - Arabica and Robusta and is the most sought after not only in the Philippines, but other Asian and European countries as well because of its distinct aroma and flavor. Tan urged farmers and fishermen to form themselves into cooperatives and avail of the many various projects of the provincial government, adding he would also build a school, which would specialize in agriculture and fisheries and offer free education to all in the province. Marcos endorsement slammed Continued from page 1 dictatorship. Time for Comelec to dismiss the petition of these usurpers! In Germany for example, a political party formed to oppose Adolf Hitler will definitely not support an Adolf Hitler Jr. Logic lang yan. Consistent with the PDP LABAN history, struggles, deaths, and party constitution!” said Senator Aquilino Pimentel III, the PDP-Laban national chairman. PDP-LABAN’s presidential candidate is Senator Manny Pacquiao. Marcos’s son, whose running mate is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, is also seeking the endorsement of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Acting Presidential Spokesman Martin Andanar said Duterte remains an influential political figure whose endorsement is sought by the current presidential aspirants. “Even Vice President Leni Robredo is open to the endorsement of the President. Senator Bongbong Marcos is also asking for the endorsement of the President. Kanina si Ka-Leody nakausap ko at siya naman ay bukas naman pag siya ay ini-endorse ni Presidente Duterte,” he said. Andanar said seeking Duterte’s endorsement is a clear acknowledgment that the president has done a very good job,

adding Duterte defied the traditional path of Filipino leaders who become lame ducks before they bow out of office. “What is important to us is that our President remains very relevant. Our President is not following the footsteps or the path of the tradition that the President becomes lame duck or when the President’s endorsement becomes a kiss of death,” he said. Duterte earlier said that he would remain neutral in the May 2022 elections unless there is a compelling reason to change his decision, but recently said that he prefers a lawyer as the next president. Hunt down drug suspects: Duterte Continued from page 1 after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reported that authorities seized P12 billion worth of crystal meth in the town of Infanta in Quezon province on March 16 and the arrest of 10 people. And another haul of crystal meth worth P1 billion in Valenzuela City in the previous week. Maraming salamat po, Mr. President,” he added. Duterte, who is currently being investigated by the International Criminal Court for the extrajudicial killings in his deadly war on drugs, said the public do not know the problems posed by illegal drugs. We will be going out in a few days just about three months from now,” the president said. “Iyong paano natin masugpo talaga itong duro(ga)… Ako sa totoo lang kung nalaman ko itong ganito, pinapatay ko na lang ito lahat. Itong prangka-prangka pagka. Biro mo ang ginawa ng — ‘sus, worth 10 billion? So ilan ang — nakita ko doon sa footage, ‘yung presentation mo, grabe karami. So sino ang end user nito? Ang Filipino people and this will continue to — drugs would haunt us today, tomorrow, and malayo pa,” he added. Duterte said he would personally talk with the next president about the country’s drug problems. “I hope to — pagka makausap ko kung matapos na ang elections and a new president shall have been elected, I said there’s a time for us to — me to bring, invite him to dito, ito siguro ang sasabihin ko sa kanya, patayin mo talaga itong mga...Ano ang… Kung mapunta ito doon sa street level, doon sa mga basurero, maraming na namang Pilipino na ano. Ang problema nito, it induces insanity sa tao kaya... Ito papatayin na naman, ‘pag walang mga pera mag-holdup, lahat na. At ang — multiple ang problema dito. Sige, let us go and look for them, hunt them down,” he said. Probe In September last year, the pre-trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Court said it has granted Prosecutor’s Fatou Bensouda’s request to commence an investigation in relation to crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court allegedly committed in the Philippines between November 1, 2011 and March 16, 2019 in the context of the so-called “war on drugs” campaign. It can be recalled that on June 14, 2021, the Prosecutor filed a public redacted version of the request to open an investigation, initially submitted on May 24, 2021, requesting authorisation to commence an investigation into the situation in the Philippines, as provided for in Article 15(3) of the Rome Statute. Before her term ended in June last year, Bensouda sought authorisation from The Hague tribunal to open a full investigation into President Rodrigo Duterte’s ongoing war on drugs that killed thousands of people, including innocent children. Bensouda said a preliminary probe that began in February 2018 determined “that there is a reasonable basis to believe that the Crime against Humanity of murder was committed” in the Philippines between July 1, 2016 and March 16, 2019, which was when Duterte ordered that the Philippines withdraw from the court. The suspected crimes happened “in the context of the government of Philippines ‘war on drugs’ campaign,” Bensouda said in a statement announcing that she was seeking judicial authorisation to proceed with a full investigation. “Information obtained by the Prosecution suggests that state actors, primarily members of the Philippine security forces, killed thousands of suspected drug users and other civilians during official law enforcement operations,” she said. Suspects Duterte launched his deadly campaign against narcotics shortly after his victory in the May 2016 presiden-

tial elections. He ran on a single issue of fighting crimes in the Philippines, and during his campaign and later as president, Duterte repeatedly urged police to “kill” drug suspects. Human rights groups said the number of deaths could be at least 27,000, and accuse the authorities of carrying out summary executions that killed innocent suspects including children. Countless people were also killed by “unknown” gunmen. Police say the suspects were killed when they resisted arrest and became violent, but there have been documented cases of suspects being executed, or survivors saying police shot unarmed civilians. The drug war killings have also continued even in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, as Duterte vowed that there is no stopping in pursuing suspects. Bensouda said prosecutors also reviewed allegations of “torture and other inhumane acts, and related events” dating back to November 1, 2011, “all of which we believe require investigation.” Duterte’s drug war, she said, shows “a State policy to attack civilians”. Those allegations center in the city of Davao, where Duterte served as mayor for about two decades. In 2017, a retired police officer had linked Duterte and his men to nearly 200 killings in Davao. Will not cooperate Then Duterte’s spokesman, Harry Roque, dismissed the decision as “legally erroneous and politically motivated.” He said: “The President will never cooperate until the end of his term on Jun 30, 2022.” He also said that the ICC “has no jurisdiction” of the alleged crimes, adding that the police officers have “the right to defend” themselves using “reasonable force” during drug operations, “and therefore, justified by the principle of necessity and proportionality.” In an address recorded a week before the news of Bensouda’s request broke, Duterte called on human rights organisations to take a closer look into his war on drugs. “You would notice that there are really persons who die almost daily because they fought back,” he said, warning drug dealers: “Do not destroy the country. I will kill you.” Duterte had previously called Bensouda “that black woman,” while calling another international human rights investigator, Agnes Callamard as “skinny” and “malnourished.” Callamard is now the Secretary General of Amnesty International. The “war on drugs” has been a cornerstone of Duterte’s presidency since he came to power promising to crush crime, despite criticism from opponents and human rights groups of widespread abuses. Because of the probe, Duterte withdrew the country from the International Criminal Court in March 2018. The decision came into force a year later. However, the International Criminal Court still has jurisdiction over the alleged crimes that happened while the country was still a member of the International Criminal Court. Duterte defended his drug crackdown, saying in a 15-page statement that it is “lawfully directed against drug lords and pushers who have for many years destroyed the present generation, especially the youth.” Callamard said Bensouda’s announcement “is a moment of hope for thousands of families in the Philippines who are grieving those lost to the government’s so-called war on drugs. This is a much-awaited step in putting murderous incitement by President Duterte and his administration to an end.” While the Philippines

has long faced issues with impunity prior to the Duterte administration, the situation significantly worsened with the widespread and systematic killing of thousands of alleged drug suspects since 2016. “The ICC’s intervention must end this cycle of impunity in the country and send a signal to the police and those with links to the police who continue to carry out or sanction these killings that they cannot escape being held accountable for the crimes they commit,” Callamard said. Former Justice Secretary and now Senator Leila de Lima welcomed the ICC’s full-blown investigation of the thousands of killings under the Duterte regime's murderous war on drugs. “Sabi ko naman noon pa, hindi pang-habangbuhay ang kapangyarihan. May galaw ang hustisya na hindi mako-kontrol ng politika ninyo at kapangyarihan. Hindi 'yan karma, that's the march of justice about to trounce you. Let's return to Mr. Duterte the favor and give him a taste of his own medicine: “Kung wala kang kasalanan, hindi ka matatakot.” “That's why it is called the Rule of Law. You can't just play with the law of humanity and use your own set of rules. Kahit pa ang pangalan mo ay Duterte. So the International Criminal Court is now at your door, behind it are thousands of victims of your bloodbath,” she added. De Lima said Duterte’s days are coming to an end, stressing that the only question now is whether Duterte’s own death will come as a boon and save him from the trial and judgment of the ICC for his crimes against humanity. “He might actually be entertaining that notion now, better to die first than to suffer the humiliation of being dragged in chains to The Hague as one of the few individuals in history to be tried as hostis humani generis, an enemy of mankind,” she said. Pray for Duterte De Lima, adding insult to injury, further said that Filipinos should pray for Duterte's long life and good health because his death would be unfair to the thousands of poor Filipinos killed under his orders. “It would be an injustice for him to escape his coming trial and conviction by the grace of an early departure from this world. No, that should not happen. Let us all pray for Duterte's long life and good health, so that he may go through the ICC trial that would follow his arrest after the start of the investigation of the Office of the Prosecutor," she said. “All power, no matter how absolute, is always fleeting. Only justice is permanent. Let it be done though the heavens fall.” (Mindanao Examiner)

Future looks bright for sericulture industry

A bunch of silkworm larvae feeding on mulberry leaves is on display at the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute in Villanueva town in Misamis Oriental. (Nef Luczon, PNA) CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Two years ago, Alfredo Angcop used a hectare of his farmland to venture into planting mulberries in Claveria town in Misamis Oriental province but months later, he started rearing silkworms, but why? Here is his story: In his town, there are 20 of them who are engaged in sericulture, but it was not easy for starters like him. "You need to plant mulberries and grow them for at least seven months, after that you get those (silkworm) larvae," he said. Angcop said feeding the silkworm larvae needs attention and close monitoring, a routine he had to adjust to for months, not like the other crops that he was used to. "Mulberries are organic. They are not sprayed with pesticides otherwise, it will affect the silkworm. In feeding them, there are required schedules, or else they will not produce thick cocoons," he explained. He said mulberry farms are important as the leaves are necessary for the silkworms to feed on. They would later create a cocoon that is the source of silk materials. For three harvest cycles, Angcop said he was able to sell these to the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOSTPTRI) in Villanueva town where he had a contract under the program "Seda Pilipinas." Silkworm processing Seda Pilipinas is DOSTPTRI’s Philippine Silk Road Program, which aims to help farmers and partner industries in the textile sector through science and technology train-

ing and intervention. DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña led the formal opening of its filature facility, which houses four spinning and reeling machines from India worth about P10 million. The machines were bought last year and with the acquisition, farmers can process the silkworm cocoons into silk. Prior to the arrival of the machines, suppliers had to bring the cocoons to the Visayas for processing. "We are aiming to upscale or increase the volumes, like this sericulture that produces silk. We are looking forward that someday, we can find more areas that can be planted (with mulberries) and expansion of sericulture production areas," De la Peña said. He said there has been an increased demand for silk and while there are cheaper sources in other countries, he said the silk industry in the Northern Mindanao region and the country is necessary for farmers to find additional income. Apollo Pacamalan, head of Misamis Oriental Provincial Agriculture Office, said the provincial government has committed to pouring in an additional P2 million worth of support for sericulture farmers with a 50-hectare mulberry farm. Livelihood In a housing community managed by the local government in the village of Balubal here, some 40 women have been engaged in sericulture since 2018. Kris Buntag, the division's project coordinator, said 12 of them have undergone train-

ing through PTRI and other government agencies. "These farmers are mostly mothers. Through mentoring and monitoring, we also remind them that these free programs from the government should be taken care of and they should use the resources responsibly and efficiently," she said. Buntag said that more members of the community will be trained soon by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. Eventually, the hard work of the women community in Balubal, as well as Angcop's and his colleagues in Claveria, will pay off after PTRI found a private sector partner, Bayo Foundation. The partnership between PTRI and Bayo Foundation was brokered earlier this year, with the latter committed to purchase silk from sericulture farmers in Northern Mindanao. Tourism potential The Department of Tourism Region 10 Director, May Unchuan, said Northern Mindanao has a bigger chance of maximizing Mindanao-based textile products, especially in the fashion industry here and abroad. "The machine may be costly but with the help of the Department of Agriculture and local government units, we can expand the mulberry farms and silkworm population, and also train the farmers," she said. Mimi Pimentel, a fashion designer and advocate of Mindanao-based textiles, once said that if farmers here can produce large volumes of silk, she can continue to promote the fabric abroad. "We had a series of fashion shows abroad and we were promoting the Mindanao silk, so it clicked with international buyers, which they usually buy in bulk," she said. Sericulture is the process of cultivating silkworms and extracting silk from them. The caterpillars of the domestic silkmoth (also called Bombyx mori) are the most commonly used silkworm species in sericulture. (Nef Luczon)

OPINION

RECIPE

Everyone Has a Story to Tell Beef Broccoli with Carrots by Engr. Carlos V. Cornejo (Cebu) ALMOST EVERYONE feels that their opinions are good, otherwise they would not share them with you. From each person we can always learn something we don’t know because each one is unique and unrepeatable. Adam Grant says, “Learn something new from each person you meet. Everyone knows more than you about something.” You are not in another person’s world so when he or she shares something from his or her world it’s worth listening to because it surely is something new. Whether that person is a president of a company or one of its janitors, we all can learn from their unique points of view. One of the destructive things that many of us do sometimes is compare someone else’s opinion to our own. And when it doesn’t fall in line with our belief, we either dismiss it or find fault with it. It is said that we don’t have enough time to experience everything this world can offer. God helped solve that by having others who can share their experiences to us. We can learn from the successes of other people as well as their failures. You don’t have to try out addictive drugs for example to find out that it’s not really good for you. You just have to hear the horrible stories of people who succumbed to it and have regretted getting hooked with it. It’s also the reason why some people write books. They want to share their experiences, good ones and bad, that we could learn from. That’s why it’s good to read many books because it’s like knowing many other people’s personalities from different places around the world.

Knowledge is a game changer in our lives and there are only two main sources of it, books and people. Charlie Jones said, “You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” We can learn from the simplest people that we meet. From a gardener of a technical school where I used to teach, I learned that he has a unique instinct of knowing danger is coming and that he had to flee from it right away. He was once in a bakery in his barangay, and suddenly he felt some anxious foreboding telling him to leave immediately. And true enough, there was a brawl that happened among loafers who were there, just right after he left. He said, it’s God’s way of steering him away from danger. He said he always prays to God to keep him safe. From a taxi driver, I got a good lesson about marriage and fidelity (from a story told by a priest in a homily, when this priest rode a taxi). This taxi driver said he would know right away by instinct, if the couple riding in his taxi sitting at the back are married or in an illicit relationship. He said, married couples have special intimacy unmarried couples don’t possess. And those who are in an unlawful relationship would always appear uneasy. When the priest asked him, “Would you be in an unlawful relationship too, someday?” The priest was trying to find out his opinion on marriage. He replied “No way Father, I can’t betray my wife. She is very kind to me and to our kids.” It’s a lesson on how a good wife makes a good husband. (Carlos Cornejo)

3. Mag-ehersisyo.

9. Good luck po!

Security forces told to stay vigilant CEBU CITY – Counter-terrorism analyst Rommel Banlaoi warned security sector in central Philippines to stay vigilant on the possible spill over of terrorist threats from Mindanao while preparing for any eventualities in the contested West Philippine Sea. Banlaoi said terrorist organizations in the southern Philippines are still capable of staging attacks, citing some incidents occurring even after the May 2017 Marawi siege by pro-ISIS militant groups Dawlah Islamiya and Abu Sayyaf, among other terror groups. He said the decades-old communist insurgency remains a persistent terrorist threat in Mindanao and the Visayas. Security forces are still fighting several fronts in the restive southern region where pro-ISIS militants and Maoist rebels are actively operating. “Terrorism in the Philip-

pines is not disappearing. It is not disappearing because we have to understand terrorism in the Philippines in the context of our domestic security threats. Domestically, we have been experiencing prolonged internal armed conflict associated with communist rebellion initiated (and) led by the New People’s Army and Moro separatist group, especially the Abu Sayyaf, the various factions of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, and other proISIS elements now operating in the Philippines,” he said. Banlaoi cited history, politics, and economics, social, cultural, ideological, religious, and personal reasons as underlying causes to the persistent existence of terrorist groups in the country. He noted a coincidence that when a certain group advocated the return of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, a social media account propped up, pushing for the creation of the Is-

lamic Emirate of the Philippines that calls for support and even donations. Banlaoi, chairman of the Philippine Institute for Peace, Violence and Terrorism Research, warned of different ways of perpetrating terror attacks which may be carried out using an aerial drone, lone wolf suicide bomber, car bombs, and even animal bombs. “So far, all suicide terrorist attacks in the Philippines have become family affairs, thus the advent of family suicide terrorism, which inevitably involved female and their children,” he said. However, he said there is still a great need to strengthen the community-based approach to countering current, persistent, and emerging terrorist threats in the country while the authorities are preparing for any regional emergencies that may crop up because of the Philippines’ territorial sea dispute with the neighboring countries. He cited the need for the Filipino people to comprehensively understand the issues in the western seaboard, even as he pointed out the difference between the South China Sea and the West Philippine Sea. He said it is imperative for the Armed Forces of the Philippines to intensify patrols at the West Philippine Sea. “If we can patrol, we can own and control our water,” he said. (John Rey Saavedra)

Low vax turnout seen during local poll campaign THE NATIONAL Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) is looking for ways to ramp up the mass vaccination program as it raised the possibility of a lower turnout due to the start of the local campaign period. “We are anticipating a possibility of a fewer output of our local government units because of the election and during the campaign period, therefore, we’re also looking at other means to vaccinate,” said Dr. Krezia Lorraine Rosario, NVOC co-lead. Rosario said all regions and provinces nationwide have enough supply of Covid-19 vaccines for them to inoculate their target population. There is an equitable vaccine distribution nationwide, she added. She also reiterated the government and the health authorities have targeted to fully vaccinate at least 90 million by June 30. “We are in the last mile of our vaccination, it means we are nearing in accomplishing a certain population group like for example in our adult population we only have few

However, she noted that these unvaccinated people are still having doubts, fears, and hesitations, so it is harder to encourage them to get inoculated which makes them more vulnerable to the deadly respiratory disease. Rosario said the government will study how to provide better services to the areas still lagging in their vaccination coverage, adding they are planning to launch special vaccination days per area, particularly those that have low

vaccination turnout and have large unvaccinated populations. She said the government will more likely focus its vaccination efforts in Cebu province, and also Region 12 and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. “We’ll also strive to reach our second dose requirement to fully vaccinate our constituents. We are also monitoring those vaccinated individuals that are yet to receive their second doses,” Rosario said. (Lade Jean Kabagani)
