Zamboanga City going cariton? THE WORD: “THE TRUTH HURTS, BUT ONCE YOU ACCEPT THE TRUTH, THE HURT WILL JUST DISAPPEAR.” OUR local leaders should better be extra vigilant on its supposed P3.9 billion rehab funds pledged by P-NOY himself for the supposed massive rehabilitation of “ground zero” thoroughly devastated by the nearly month-long bloody siege inflicted by the invading MNLFMisuari armed faction in September. WHY am I saying this? Well, it appears we’re slow, apathetic and sluggish -- worse, it looks like we have no sure good link to Malacañang where traditionally our politics still plays its key role to lobby its needed favors for the hasty release of these huge financial pledges aimed for the rehab of all these calamity-stricken areas this year. If so geek and unhurried, then such a snail-pacing will allow others to easily snatch from us those funds, and they’ll wily realign them -- notwithstanding these are already sure pledges offered for the said purpose. IT’s also a known fact that these political bigwigs from Luzon and the Visayas are almost always dominating us in the scrimmage for all these needed funds—especially so, in the light of all these huge calamities plaguing our country at present. Areas known hit hardest by the recent super typhoon (Yolanda) -the strongest ever recorded in man’s memory, are currently in dire need for more financial aid for their own massive rehabs, as well. “Si hinde’ alisto el aton mga lideres aqui, puede lang se pledge de P3.9 billion ginda na mga devastated lugar porcausa conese Yolanda,” Si Bogs yaman pa sabe ya tamen. “Deberasan man tamen cay tiene ya dao se precedent, donde mga cuanto fondo de mga ciudad ya puede lang man re-align cay puerte ila backing na Malacañang,” nohay atrasa na cuento este si Ador. “Hinde’ se puede cay mismo

Fidel) Ramos’ national ID system proposal that was declared as unconstitutional by the SC then,” the Tetuan city policy-making body member hinted. HE said such a contentious area in the Ramos failed move can now be corrected under his current proposal with an emphasis for its avoidance of being unconstitutional. “All the data and information cannot be released and/or granted unless ordered by the court and/or equipped with a written authority from the person and/or individual concerned. Officials said Daniel Xavier was arrested by a composite group of police intelligence agents near a bus terminal in Cagayan de Oro City in northern Mindanao. Xavier, who goes by the names Daniel Cruz and Salahuddin Ibrahim Jaffam, allegedly posed as a UN representative and in several occasions introduced himself as a member of the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation and Central Intelligence Agency.

Daniel Xavier Police linked Xavier to the rebellion launched by Moro National Liberation Front under Nur Misuari in Zamboanga City in September and the fighting lasted three weeks and left over 400 people dead and wounded. Local police have filed charges against Xavier in connection to the rebellion along with Misuari and lieutenants and loyal followers. “Police filed charges of rebellion and violation of the International Humanitarian Law against Xavier along with other MNLF members, including Chairman Nur Misuari, relative to the Zamboanga City siege. The suspect pretended to be a representative of the United Nations and assured the Moro National Liberation Front Chairman of the UN’s support

Arjun Jain, the UN Area Security Coordinator ad interim in Mindanao, said they informed the Filipino government about Xavier, who allegedly passes himself off as the UN representative in the Philippines, particularly in Mindanao, and that he has, in this false capacity, engaged with various persons and agencies in Mindanao. “The United Nations wishes to categorically state that it has no relationship with any person by this name and that no such person has in the past, or currently is authorized to represent the United Nations or any official of the United Nations in relation to any matter concerning the Philippines,” Jain said. “The UN wishes to

take this opportunity to reiterate its commitment to support all parties involved in bringing peace to Mindanao, being an active supporter to, inter alia, the ongoing peace negotiations between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.” It was not immediately known whether Xavier had contacted the MILF or entered into any business transactions or agreement with Filipino firms or government agencies or the rebel group which is currently negotiating peace with Manila. Xavier strongly denied all accusations against him. Misuari and his lieutenants headed by Ustadz Kabir Malik are still at large and are believed to have escaped to Indonesia or the Middle East. 2 kidnapped men rescued in Sulu province SULU – Authorities have rescued two men who were kidnapped in the southern Tawi-Tawi province and brought to Sulu province, officials said. Officials said Lindo Estrada and Itih Partosa, who are both carpenters, were seized by gunmen while working on a contracted project in Simunul town in September. The men, who are both from Zamboanga City, were spotted by villagers in the town of Omar and immediately informed the local leaders headed by Mayor Ferhana

Mohammad. The victims’ guards managed to escape after seeing security forces heading their way in the village of Sucuban. The two men said they were first brought to the town of Pata and then kidnappers transferred them to Kalinggalan Caluang due to the presence of police forces in the area and then brought them to Omar town to avoid being detected by the police, according to Erwin Tan, the provincial administrator. He said the two men

met with the governor and other town officials and thanked them for their safe recovery. “Governor Tan ordered medical personnel to examine the victims who were later handed over to the military in the capital town of Jolo for a routine debriefing,” he told the Mindanao Examiner. It was unknown whether the kidnappers were members of the Abu Sayyaf or criminals operating in Tawi-Tawi province. (Mindanao Examiner)
