Orange-Cranberry Mimosa

Ingredients 1/2 c. fresh-squeezed orange juice, plus orange pieces for serving (about 2 oranges) 1/2 c. fresh cranberry juice 3 c. seltzer or sparkling wine Fresh cranberries, for serving Directions Combine the orange and cranberry juices and refrigerate up to 2 days. To serve, divide among glasses, then top with the seltzer or sparkling wine, if using (about 6 tablespoons per glass). Serve with orange pieces and cranberries, if desired.

Mulled Apple Cider

Ingredients 4 whole cinnamon sticks 1/8 tsp. ground cloves 8 whole allspice berries Orange peel from 1 orange Lemon peel from 1 lemon 1/2 c. maple syrup 6 c. unfiltered (fresh squeezed is great) apple juice Apple slices and orange twists, for garnish 1/2 c. dark rum, optional

Directions Place the cinnamon sticks, ground cloves, allspice berries, orange peel and lemon peel in a medium saucepan. Pour in the maple syrup and apple juice, then bring to almost a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and serve in mugs with apple slices and orange twists for garnish. Add a splash of rum for an adults-only version! Yum, yum, yum.

Cranberry Cheer

Ingredients 1 c. sugar 2 sticks cinnamon 2 whole star anise 3 green cardamom pods 1 c. fresh cranberries 6 oz. rye whiskey (such as McKenzie) 2 oz. fresh lime juice Seltzer Lime slices

Directions In a small pot over medium heat, stir sugar in 1 cup water until dissolved to create simple syrup; reserve 1/4 cup. Place spices on an 8-inch square of cheesecloth and secure with twine to create a sachet; crush spices lightly. Add sachet and cranberries to simple syrup. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and cook for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and discard sachet.

In a shaker, mix 4 teaspoons cranberry mixture, whiskey, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice. Pour into 4 glasses with ice. Top each with a splash of seltzer; garnish with lime.
