3 Practices to Telepathically “Talk” with Animals

By quieting the mind, focusing on the present, and opening the heart, we create the sacred space in which our souls can encounter the souls of animals. This is where you should begin whenever you wish to initiate such an encounter. Spend a few minutes doing one or more of the 3 practices described below. I find that meditating daily makes it easier to settle my mind and open my heart at will, without having to make a big production of it.

Animals think in pictures and feelings. When they want to connect with you, the most natural way for them to do it is by sending a mental image, a feeling, or both. If someone sends you a postcard with a picture of a mountain on it, the word “mountain” is almost certain to flash across your mind. Though you weren’t sent the word, it nevertheless arrives with the picture. This is what is happening when people quote words “said” by an animal who doesn’t actually know any words.

The best way to learn what animal messages are like is to practice sending such messages yourself before attempting to receive any.

The “languages” animals use instead of words are languages that humans know too. We ’re just not accustomed to relying on them.

Practice #1: Sending a Pictorial Message You can practice this with your companion animal if you have one.

When there is something you would like your animal to do, instead of issuing a verbal command, form a mental picture of the desired action. Picture your cat coming to sit in your lap or your dog fetching a favorite toy, then imagine that you are sending that picture over the “telepathic airwaves.” You may be startled to discover that your animal actually responds to your mental request. On the whole, companion animals prefer this mode of communication, just

as you probably prefer messages in your native language to messages that have to be painstakingly translated from Swahili.

Practice #2: Sending a Feeling As with the previous exercise, practicing this one with a companion animal is ideal. This time your task is to send an emotion. Start with one that is directly related to the animal. For instance, instead of saying “Good dog!” simply experience the emotion of being pleased.

Notice what it feels like in your body. It might help to exaggerate the feeling a bit, really filling yourself up with the sense of be-ing pleased. Then send it.

When you find that your animal seems to be responding to emotional messages that directly concern him or her, you can go on to work with sending other feelings that you might be having. You can let your animal know that you feel sad or worried or excited. None of this is going to come as news to your companion. He or she has been picking up on your moods all along, and probably knows what you are feeling even better than you do yourself. That’s not really the point. Your purpose is simply to get used to deliberately sending feelings. This will help you to recognize feeling messages from animals when you receive them.

Practice #3: Making a Metaphor A metaphor is a mental image that symbolically communicates a feeling. For example, we may say that we are “drowning in debt.”

The mental picture isn’t meant to convey literal drowning, but the feeling of being overwhelmed by financial obligations.

When you have a strong feeling, sit with it a moment and see if an image comes to mind—an image that expresses the feeling symbolically. This is pretty likely to happen, but if it doesn’t, notice whether some familiar figure of speech comes to mind—an expression like “blow my top” or “bursting with pride.” Form a literal mental picture of what that figure of speech is saying.

You don’t need to send this image to anyone. The purpose of the exercise is simply to learn to express feelings through symbolic pictures so that you will be able to recognize such a message should you receive one from an animal.

A few months back I read an article in the newspaper that spoke about an Associated Press poll that said almost 78% of Americans believed in Angels. More then 3 out of 4 people surveyed! That was an amazing statistic to me, since it seemed like such a personal thing - admitting your belief in something so clearly supernatural. But even more amazing was that the article went on to say that the findings were consistent with a poll from a previous year that said that over 50% of those surveyed felt that they had experienced some form of angelic contact or intervention.

The fact is that everyone has their own personal angel, or even multiple angels, that are available to assist them. It is not always an easy job being a physical being in a physical reality. But that is our task. Intuition, healing, and community are the keys to making this journey easier, more successful, and more joyful, for each of us.

elements or shifts in perception could create the miracle your life needs.

But something outside the system can provide that for you. That is why many miracles are preceded by shocking events that dislodge or even destroy your current reality, so that a new dynamic can occur.

Today’s news and social media make it virtually impossible to avoid the blunt reality of the moment-by-moment breeches of fundamental respect for our brothers and sisters not only in our own country, but globally as well. Would you stand in agreement with me that now, right on the ground where we now stand, is the moment for each of us to open our hearts in great honesty about how the lack of acknowledging our interconnectedness as one human family is undermining our world? Perhaps we are convinced that our personal abhorrence of violence prevents us from practicing it.

Upon closer observation, however, we can catch ourselves practicing subtle forms of violence such as gossiping, sending mental bombs of judgment, anger, resentment or prejudice towards a particular person, political party, religion, race, culture, or sexual orientation.

When such violence expresses, it pollutes the atmosphere with toxins of hatred, aggression, and harm.

One of the major benefits of social media is its achievement in turning the planet into a global village, allowing persons from one nation to protest human injustices and wars taking place in another, as well as supporting individuals who are taking a courageous stand for human rights, oftentimes risking their lives. A perfect example is Malala Yousafzai, who publicly fought for her right and that of other girls to an education. On October 9, 2012, while heading home in a school van, she was shot in the head by the Taliban, sparking an international outpouring of support and prayers. And in an unprecedented gesture, the Pakistani army and the government came together to save her life. Her book, I Am Malala, became a New York Times bestseller, and in 2013, at the age of 16, she became the youngest person ever nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Agents of change, including Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Cesar Chavez, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne, to name a few, demonstrate to the world that when the heart is fully open it becomes an instrument of love, of nonviolence, of honoring the dignity of all beings. We speak of individuals who change the

times and conditions in which they live as being great lovers of humankind. Their lives are living proof that justice, equality, and peace are ignited by love. To have more love we must understand, as they did, that our true nature is love. Through our individual inner work and spiritual practices, we discover that we have innate gifts to contribute to the creation of an enlightened society. We are not here to “save” the world; we are here to serve an emerging paradigm of love, compassion, and generosity of heart.

The Beloved Community is based on the awareness that we are One, not simply when we hold hands and sing the song “We Are the World,” but when we live by the universal spiritual principle of Oneness. The inner work we are called to do is as significant as all those who have set the example of what it means to be an emissary of love, peace, compassion, justice, and loving-kindness. Let us too set our aspiration to become an active architect in service to the Beloved Community.

Each of us is a choice-point in the center of the universe. What will be your choice? Are you willing to cultivate a heart of love as wide as the world?As world citizens, we have the opportunity to proclaim that now is the time to bring a halt to dehumanizing our global brothers and sisters, that now is the time to put an end to wars, world hunger, inadequate health care, lack of education and violating Mother Nature. The world is looking for love masters.

Each and every one of us is that potential love master.

First, I believe that part of my soul mission was to come back on planet earth and assist others in raising their consciousness and reminding people of their truth, that they are a soul having a human experience and not the other way around. Part of understanding themselves as a soul is that they realize there is no death at all, that life continues, and while they are here they have to understand that they need to be responsible for the thoughts they send out and the energy they send to another. Having this sense of mindfulness will assist them in each choice they make for themselves and another in life. My abilities are clairsentience (feeling). With my clairsentience, I first will feel the personality and physical traits of the spirit. I am also clairvoyant, where I will not only be impressed seeing memories of their lives, but actual physical traits. The spirit will often take my mind on a journey through the loved one’s house and describe it visually to me to relate to the living, so once again they realize their spirit loved ones are indeed with them. Spirit also will impress me clairaudiently, where I hear thoughts, names, sentences, phrases, etc… which they would be recognized for when they lived on the earth. We all must understand that each spirit will communicate differently depending upon their own soul’s make-up and understanding. Just like on earth, some people are more visual, some more emotional and some more involved with mental facts.

2) I’ve read your explanations about the difference between spirit and soul. I believe I get it, but could you talk a little about this difference, particularly as most people believe it’s the same thing and have a hard time separating the two?

Of course, Spirit and the soul are related, but they are not the same thing. The best way I can describe it is that the soul is Spirit incarnate. While you are in the womb, Spirit enters the body in the form of your soul. While you are living your life here on earth, your soul is having the experiences and learning the lessons it was sent here to learn!

3) While we see a development of the positive in many people 10 ▪ New Visions Magazine

throughout the world, we also see a remarkable amount of violence and anger and hate. It seems that this negativity has not disappeared, so while a part of humanity is moving forward with love and understanding, another part isn’t, even in the United States. How do you feel about or interpret what’s going on in the world with the persistence of negativity showing up everywhere?

I think the media tends to focus on negative stories, and I don’t believe it’s healthy to spend too much time dwelling on them. I urge my students to work on themselves – to treat others with compassion and send out unconditional love. Each of us can create our own beautiful ripple effect of higher consciousness that will have a positive influence on the people around us, and on the world.

4) I assume that you get anxious and worried on occasion. What do you do when those feelings, or any negative feelings, come up? Is there a technique you use that is infallible and that can help others (probably everybody on the planet!)?

Sure I get anxious and worried sometimes – we all do – but I try not to stay in that place for long. I have a few affirmations and exercises that I swear by.

I start every day with this affirmation “Happy am I, Healthy am I, Holy am I.” I even have that phrase in a little frame in my office. It grounds me and makes me realize how blessed I am to be here doing what I love.

Throughout the day, I also picture myself as a skyscraper, with each floor representing a different level of consciousness. The basement is fear and resentment, and as I take the elevator up I pass levels of anger, contentment, optimism, and at the very top level is the “penthouse of love!” I consciously try to move my mood up to the penthouse as I go through my day. The view is so much better from up there!

5) Do you have disappointments in life—or is that too much of a negative based question?

I love my life and I feel blessed to be able to bring comfort and enlightenment to so many people. I sometimes wish I could

be in lots of different places at once – simultaneously spending time with my family, traveling around the world to events and workshops, and writing and mentoring students of my School of Mystical Arts. Luckily there is technology that allows me to keep everything in balance! I can work with my students via Facebook, video and conference calls from wherever I am – and I use that same technology to stay connected with friends and family when I’m on the road.

and all. The love you give yourself will help you project loving energy outward. When you are in a state of loving yourself and have an awareness of yourself as a loving being that’s when you can start to manifest everything you want in your life!

6) What gives you the greatest satisfaction?

Every event is different but when I am in front of an audience, I’m not just a medium – I’m also a teacher. I feel it’s my job to make sure everyone leaves the room feeling a little bit lighter and closer to Spirit.

Well besides the love I feel for my family and friends, I always like to have a project that I’m passionate about. That’s what gets me really excited!

Right now that project is my new school. For years I have dreamed of creating a school – and I had a vision of how I wanted it to be. I’d always offered online courses and meditation downloads, and I wanted to take the education process a step further. Creating a school where people could become certified as psychics and mediums seemed to be a natural progression. I decided to have an online school, and to monitor and interact with students through live calls, a student forum, and various other interactive means. I believe when people can stay at home and work at their own pace, it eliminates stress and they are able to allow themselves time to fully develop.

7) When one reaches a true state of love, even if temporarily, it’s impossible to be judgmental about anyone, even ourselves, isn’t that true? And, if true, isn’t that the ultimate goal? Could you address love and its importance?

Marianne Williamson expresses this beautifully when she says “Love is what we were born into, and fear is what we learned here.”

When people come from a place of fear, they actually build a wall around themselves to protect them from being hurt by other people and to keep bad things from happening – they’re trying to be in control. Since no one can really control other people or the world, what that wall is really doing is blocking out love.

Before you can truly love or be loved by another person, you have to first love yourself. That means accepting yourself flaws

8) For those who have never seen you at an event, what can they expect? Isn’t there a special “energy” that arises in the room or hall?

What have your typical experiences been?

Some people have a loved one come through in a very public way, in front of the whole audience. Others feel the presence of a loved one or receive a message all by themselves, during the blending exercise or as part of someone else’s reading.

One thing I know for sure is that when I do a presentation, everyone who attends benefits from taking time out of their busy lives to spend a few hours connecting with Spirit and tuning into their own soul’s voice.
