Tidal Garden
The studio was asked to design a tidal garden off one of the piers in San Francisco that addressed the concepts of order, site analysis, scale, structure, culture, and landscape. It was an introduction to design concepts and conventions of graphic representation and model building. Design skills are developed through observational, analytical, and projective exercises. The emphasis is on the issues and processes, which guide the “making of artifacts. This project was driven by research concerning parks and public spaces in addition to analytical observations of the surrounding cityscape -- tide movements, recorded individual pedestrian circulation paths, and traffic fluctuations.
