Holland Village Drone Centre Year 3 Semester 1 Project, Year 2018 Repsonding to the government's annoucement on the Holland Village Development Plan, the project is separated into two phases: 1st phase is a group project to propose a master plan for the Holland Village development. 2nd phase is individual work to design one of the architectures under the development guidelines. For this project, we have proposed to create a competitive sports village and my own design for the architecture would be a drone centre.

Holland Village Drone Centre
The commercial programmes such as drone stores, VR entertainment, drone delivery service and food court would be placed at the 1st floor to faciliate commercial activities as well as attract surrounding consumers or potential consumers into the drone centre.
On the rooftop, there is the training ground for drone operators. Obstacles are placed for the operators to maneuver their drones around so as familiarise themselves with the flying operation.
At the 2nd floor, drone educational institute and workshop are here to provide essential trainings and impart professional knowledge for people interested in dronerelated industries. The side facing the community plaza are the shop-fronts with full height glass wall and large LED screen on the rooftiop to promote drone-related events and attract visitors from afar.

Transcending Boundary Year 3 Semester 2 Project, Year 2018 With the upcoming development for Bidadari estate, the Mount Vernon Sanctuary will be demolised and there will a need for replacement. With the land constraints in Singapore, there has been proposal to insert the columbarium facility in the community estate despite of the strong objections from the local residents. This project takes on the challenge to create a death sanctuary that could possibly peacefully blend into the community.

Transcending Boundary (Community Columbarium)
The columbarium will be insert into the Bidadari Park, between the Bidadari Heritage walk and the Alkaff lake.
and a cafe, where the local residents or those hike along the heritage walk can visit. They will be on top of the parlours.
In general the programmes are catergorised into 4 types: 1. funeral events 2.funeral consultancy 3.embalming service 4.community programme (to bridge the residents and the columbarium facility)
A public circulation path going through the library and the cafe and connecting the heritage walk at the higher altitude to the lake side path is also place over the parlour rooftop.
The proposed community programme is a public library
Central open coutr yard is placed in between the
parlour for the procession, and users in the library and the walkway are able to witness the procession event. The idea is to create unintentional/subtle visual connections between the public and the funeral events so that as time goes by, daily encouter with death events becomes a norm to the locals and hopefully the perception of living near the columbarium as a social taboo will diminish.

The embalming facility and the funeral event consultancy are positioned futher away from eyes of the public. They are situated at the basement level, same as the cemetery but right below the parlour. Hence there is little visual exposure to the outside. This is to minimise disturbance and maintain privacy. As for the cemetery, apertures are inserted on
the ceiling to introduce natural light. At the centre of the cemetery, the ceiling is wide open with the public walkway going across it, such that the public visitors walking over can have direct view to what is happenong down below.
