Generally, in everyday life, we get to a time of testing after we have gone through a period of teaching, though regularly nobody likes tests. Why? Because we are afraid to fail; we fear to fail the test, and to need to repeat all the preparation we already went through; we are afraid of our results, since we dislike people making fun of us, especially when we are directly involved in something, and even so we fail to pass the test. 2 Corinthians 13:5 (ESV) Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! The Lord’s call is to test ourselves, even though we dislike it, it is a call from God where we are both judges, and the ones who need to be approved, since the first ones to know the results of the exam are ourselves. 2 Corinthians 13:5 (BRG) Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? Then we need to exercise in the test, yet in order to do so we need to analyze how is our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ doing to verify He truly lives in our hearts. 2 Corinthians 13:5 (GNT) Put yourselves to the test and judge yourselves, to find out whether you are living in faith. Surely you know that Christ Jesus is in you?—unless you have completely failed. The fear would be then to realize that because of our attitudes, we come to the conclusion that the Lord Jesus Christ is not in our hearts; knowing that everything we are taught from the pulpit is to make us aware of many things we need to be careful for, and avoiding them to nestle in our hearts since we need to be ready for the Lord is coming at any moment, and if we fail, we will go up to the clouds to encounter the Lord, but then we will return to finish our preparation for we did not take advantage of this time we have now. Nowadays we have the opportunity to examine ourselves, tomorrow, we will be examined by the Lord Jesus Christ, and then we will see if were truly transparent in our self-evaluation; thus we need to thoroughly examine ourselves with the word of God, and becoming aware of how we are walking, if we are assimilating His Word we will not justify the way the world does it. EXAMINE (according to the Strong’s dictionary) G3985 To test essaying, using. Referring piercing, go far, go beyond, go through. According to this concept, we can state that to be examined means for us to be pierced, to be split in two in order to see what we have inside. We could take another example to cut a fruit in halves to truly know how is it, for it is not enough to look its outward appearance, but we need to split it in two; obviously this could be painful in one’s life, spiritually speaking of course, because as we open our hearts what is really inside will manifest. Thus, the Bible says the works of everybody must be tested so that fire will purify whatever is displeasing God. Philippians 1:9-10 (KJV) And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. Every one of us used to have a sign on us that read: DESTROY ME, yet one day God rescue us, and instead of that sign, He sealed us with His GOD’S PRIVATE PROPERTY seal; we came out from darkness to the admirable light of Jesus; therefore, when we realize what the Lord made for us, the least we could do in retribution is seek to please His heart at all costs, however in order to do so, we must strive to be holy as He is holy. Materially speaking, when we want to please someone, what we do is to find out what he or she likes. If we are willingly seeking to please someone, why don’t we do the same for Jesus? Let us strive to please God’s heart for we belong to him, and if we truly want to do it, let us examine ourselves to find out what is in our hearts. Psalm 26:2-8 (JUB) Examine me, O LORD and prove me; melt my kidneys and my heart. For thy mercy is before my eyes, and I walk in thy truth. I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with hypocrites. I have hated the congregation of evil doers and will not sit with the wicked. I will wash my hands in innocency, so I will walk near unto thine altar, O LORD: That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works. LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house and the place of the tabernacle of thy glory. What took David to this point where he was before God, and asked Him what he did in these verses? David knew what he has done, yet he reconsidered his ways, and wants to leave it all behind in order to please God. The calling is then for us to examine our hearts because the Lord is coming soon, and what He wants to see is how we have made the most of the salvation He gifted us with as He died on the cross paying the price for our sins, which would had led us to the lake of fire. Psalm 139:23-24 (ESV) Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! David is examining his own heart, and based on what he feels, he asks God to test him since He alone was the one that could do it with sincerity, and who would have made him understand what was the result of it. Today we need to come before God to be examined by Him, if we are truly willing to bless our neighbors, or if we are expecting so much that God avenges the evil others have done to us, for much of the result of the test will depend on that. Galatians 6:4 (KJV) But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. He who tests himself, and becomes a critic of himself stops criticizing others.

Jeremiah 17:10 (KJV) I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. What we see here is a righteous God, and the One who knows us, for when He examines, He does it with justice, though it may cause pain for a while; however, God grants us the opportunity to examine ourselves on our own, and for our lives to be adjust to the level of pleasing Him with our attitudes. Matthew 4:1 (ESV) Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Temptation is precisely an exam to validate the purpose of God; this is what we constantly need to do; for that reason, Jesus did it in order to leave a mark behind Him to guide our steps as we face temptation, and to empower us to defeat it in His name. Matthew 16:1 (ESV) And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. This is the personal ego exam where the Pharisees and Sadducees approached Jesus to test Him. This happens frequently in the lives of many; suddenly someone speaks to us, and needs a favor from us, but before they ask they adulate us to soften any possible hardness, yet such adulation is an exam where we need to be firm on the Word, and to acknowledge that everything we could have is because God is good, and even though we are undeserving, He has manifested Himself greatly. Matthew 22:34-36 (ESV) But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” This is the priorities exam. Jesus was tested again, though that people knew the answer, they wanted to surprise the Lord since He could have answered they must love Him. What are our priorities? Are we going to love God above all things? What is the priority of our hearts? Sometimes we believe what God asks from us is too complicated to fulfill, however we are the complicated ones, since at the end what we need is to obey God in all things, knowing He will never ask from us something impossible for us to fulfill. John 8:6-7 (ESV) This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” The mercy exam. When we acknowledge we all have sinned; at some point we dare to point our fingers at other sinners who did something that maybe we have done in the past, but we overlook it pretending to be judges of our own lives, who are way too righteous, nevertheless This study is allowed to be copied and printed by any mean, only if the source of the information is quoted.

we want a totally strict law to judge others. We need to be merciful just as God has been with us. Acts 16:7 (ESV) And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. The exam of seeking to do God’s will. It is vital for us to examine ourselves, in order to know what is the will of God for our lives, and knowing about it, then act to do what He wants us to, even though we know God is merciful; let us also enjoy all of His love today, and obey His word.
