Ventura County


Ventura Downtown Ventura is home to the Mission San Buenaventura, museums, galleries, dining, and shopping. Located in downtown is the historic Ortega Adobe, once home to the Ortega family known for chili products. Downtown Ventura is home to Ventura’s ornate city hall with its statue of Junipero Serra.[85] Downtown includes restaurants, wine bars, breweries, and the Rubicon Theatre Company.

Ventura is a California coastal city, northwest of Los Angeles. It’s known for its beaches, like San Buenaventura State Beach, with long, wooden Ventura Pier. Surfer’s Point is popular for surfing and windsurfing. Landmarks on downtown’s Main Street include the Mission San Buenaventura, with its 1809 church. Boats depart Ventura Harbor for Channel Islands National Park, a habitat for rare island foxes and scrub jays.


Ventura County Fair

“The mission of the 31st District Agricultural Association, otherwise known as the Ventura County Fairgrounds is to promote, support, educate, celebrate and preserve the diverse culture and traditions of our County and to make certain that the Ventura County Fairgrounds multi-use community resource.�Seaside Park is an event venue in Ventura, California, United States. The 62-acre site is the home of the Ventura County Fair. Trade shows, concerts, and other events are held throughout the year at the fairgrounds. Late summer in Ventura County means 12 days of ag displays, fried foods and head-spinning rides at the county fair. The Ventura County Fair began in 1875, when the primary focus of the fair was horse racing. The fair has been enjoyed so much that it continued every year up until today- with the exception of a few years during World War II.

The plaza park was built in 1898 by Colonia Improvement Company as a part of the Oxnard town-site. City of Oxnard purchased the park in 1908 and hired William David Cook to design a new landscape for Plaza Park. Oxnard had a band at that time. City of Oxnard wanted to support their band by providing a bandstand at the pagoda. City of Oxnard called back the same architect and contractor to raise the roof so the band can play music under the roof.

Oxnard is a seaside city west of Los An Art Museum displays contemporary Ca 1906. Nearby, early-1900s homes dot H Oxnard Beach Park has a wide, sandy s tables and views of Channel Islands Na tional Marine Sanctuary.


Festivals

The California Strawberry Festival is among the top festivals in the nation with over 50 food booths, contests, rides and attractions, over 200 Arts & Crafts vendors, concerts, celebrity chef demonstrations, and family fun! The annual Oxnard Salsa Festival is a two-day celebration of all things salsa – the food, the music and the dance! Event highlights include main stage entertainment with salsa and Latin bands; salsa tastings; more than 100 vendors in an eclectic vendor marketplace; international foods in two food courts; kids korner attractions with tortilla art; and a popular salsa recipe contest. It’s Southern California’s HOTTEST Summer festival.

THOUSAND OAKS The Oaks Shopping Center is a two-level indoor/outdoor, regional shopping mall located in Thousand Oaks, California. It is owned and managed by Macerich. Accessible from US Highway 101 midway between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, it is the largest shopping center in Ventura County

Thousand Oaks is the second-largest city in Ventura County, California, United States. It is in the northwestern part of Greater Los Angeles, approximately 40 miles from Downtown Los Angeles and is less than 15 miles from the Los Angeles neighborhood of Woodland Hills.

Trails

Wildwood Regional Park is a suburban regional park in the western Simi Hills and Conejo Valley, in Ventura County, California. It is located in western Thousand Oaks, northern Newbury Park, and southern Moorpark. Wildwood is home to over 27 miles of hiking trails. 1 Los Robles Trail Approximately 25 miles of trails provide a contiguous route fromWestlake Village to Newbury Park with several shorter loops into narrow canyons and up steep ridges. it offers ample room for hikers, bikers, and equestrians to share the open space. One of the unique things about the Los Robles Trail is its historical significance. On February 28, 1776, Juan Bautiste de Anza and his band of 198 settlers and 1000 head of livestock came through the Conejo Valley on their way from Mexico to San Francisco
