The Fred. Olsen difference... Bigger, glitzier, flashier ships are being launched all the time. We wish them all fine sailing but at Fred. Olsen we like to do things a little differently. Rather than worrying about having leviathans packed with all the latest in-your-face gimmicks like climbing walls and zip-wires, we prefer more traditionally built, smaller-scaled vessels that allow for efficient, friendly, personal service, where you get closer to the people and places around you. We help you discover the world.

GET CLOSER WITH FRED.

Everyone wants something different from their holiday. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the history of Mediterranean

cities, revel in the grandeur of the Norwegian Fjord, or simply soak up the sun on deck whilst sailing around the Caribbean or the

Canaries, with a Fred. Olsen cruise you can. Whatever you want to do or see, the choice is yours.

We sail to more than 200 destinations worldwide and offer

more UK departure ports than any other cruise line. Our size advantage means we can reach places that some of the

mammoth cruise vessels can’t access, including spectacular

fjords, historic Bremen and beautiful Seville, where you’ll sail

along the Guadalquivir River, right to the city centre. We take you closer to your favourite destinations.

SHIPS YOU’LL FEEL AT HOME ON, WITH A FRIENDLY, WELCOMING CREW

Our experienced, expert crews have been carefully recruited for their warm and welcoming personalities. Each and every team

member is dedicated to making sure that your cruise experience is the best it can possibly be. The feedback we receive about our staff continues to be outstanding. Time and time again, guests tell us that it’s our very courteous, friendly team who make cruising with us so very special.

4

COMMITTED TO GETTING THINGS JUST RIGHT, FOR YOU

It’s the little things that make your holiday extra special, from

making sure your eggs are cooked to your liking at breakfast, to knowing which brand of gin you like in your evening G&T, all of us at Fred. are committed to getting everything just right. It’s

just one of the reasons guests come back to us, year after year. Whether you’re a first time cruiser, or a Fred. Olsen regular, you’ll find on our ships you’re a name, not a cabin number.

AWARD-WINNING HOLIDAYS FROM THE WHICH? RECOMMENDED PROVIDER FOR CRUISES We’ll do our best to give you the holiday of a lifetime – but don’t just take our word for it.

Although we’re a small company, we were rated joint second in the 2014 Which? Cruise Survey and were named a Which?

Recommended Provider for Cruises – an achievement that all the staff and crew at Fred. Olsen are very proud of. We were also delighted to have been voted Best Value for Money in the Cruise Critic UK Editors’ Picks Awards for the third consecutive year.

Most importantly, in over 10,000 independent guest reviews, 95% rated us Excellent or Good. Perhaps that’s why in 2014 more

than half our guests had travelled with us before.

Gibraltar

Resolutely British for nearly 300 years, Gibraltar’s unique history and setting unites the oddly familiar – from the helmeted policemen to Marks & Spencer – with an extrovert Mediterranean mood. Take a trip to see the Barbary Apes, grab some duty free shopping or board a cable-car to enjoy the grandstand views of nearby Spain and Africa.

Cartagena, Spain

Cartagena’s Old Town is protected by the city walls. There’s a natural harbour that is watched over by the medieval Castillo de la Concepcion, from which there are superb views. Many of the buildings from Roman Cartagena have disappeared, but some important sites remain, including the amphitheatre dating from around 100BC.

eautiful islands, cultural cities and Mediterranean beaches are all discovered on this wonderful sailing of the Adriatic. Cruising the fjord-like Bay of Kotor offers spectacular scenery before you absorb pretty Dubrovnik, the ‘Jewel of the Adriatic’. There’s also an overnight stay in romantic Venice, arriving on St. Mark’s Day.

Hvar, Croatia

Catania, Sicily, Italy

With Europe’s biggest volcano as a beautiful backdrop, Catania’s charms are made all the more attractive. The city boasts many sumptuous Baroque-style buildings, a UNESCO-listed historic centre and appealing street markets. Visit the Bellini Museum or take a tour to the hissing craters of Mount Etna to admire the dynamic power of nature.

Kerkira, Corfu, Greece

The island of Corfu has seen many masters in its time – Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, French, and British – the legacies of which are echoed amid the wide avenues, narrow flagstone alleys, open squares, ancient churches and the ‘old and new’ fortresses of historic Corfu Town. It’s a lovely place to stroll around, or visit famous Mouse Island at Kanoni or the beach and monastery at Paleokastritsa.

Kotor, Montenegro

Spectacular scenery greets you as you cruise through the fjord-like Bay of Kotor. The Old Town is a highly preserved example of life in the Middle Ages. The medieval architecture has ensured its place as a UNESCO-listed World Natural and Historical Heritage Site. RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE Kotor Shore Tour: The Best of Montenegro – See some of the many highlights of Montenegro, including beautiful coastal scenery, clear lakes, rushing rivers and soaring mountains.

Don’t miss the 14th century Doge’s Palace, the magnificent mosaic-decorated interior of St. Mark’s Basilica and a fabulous gondola ride – a must do in this romantic city. RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE St. Mark’s Day in Venice – Watch the famous Gondola Race, listen to live music and join in the celebrations of this romantic annual holiday, where the tradition is for men to give a rosebud to the woman they love.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Beautiful Dubrovnik is famously known as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’; it’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. natural beauty. On this walking tour, there are gorgeous photo opportunities, from spectacular coastal panoramas to beautiful Dalmatian architecture.

Valletta, Malta

A tiny island with an epic and heroic history, Malta has one of the most scenic ports of arrival anywhere in the world. Valletta is a treasure-chest bristling with baroque architecture. Don’t miss a visit to the majestic St. John’s Co-Cathedral, to admire its incredibly ornate chapels created by the Knights of St. John.

Algiers, Algeria

Built close to the Mediterranean coast, the bustling Algerian capital has lots of appeal. The most interesting area is the older part, hidden behind the hills. In the old quarter you can seek out the remains of the citadel, ancient mosques and palaces, as well as traditional shops and stalls.

Cádiz, Spain

Cádiz hugs Andalusia’s sunlit Atlantic coast and is characterised by palm trees, lookout towers and weathered old buildings. From here you can take a full day tour to Seville, which warmly envelops visitors in its maze of courtyards, atmospheric old quarters and ornate churches and cathedrals. 7

Scenic cruising

Tromsø, Norway

The city of Tromsø is known as the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’. Hidden away in Norway’s intercoastal passage and surrounded by mountain peaks, one of the best places to truly appreciate the beauty of Tromsø’s location is from high on top of Mount Storsteinen.

Honningsvåg, Norway

Honningsvåg is framed by rugged mountains and the icy Arctic Ocean. This beautiful little fishing port, with distinctive pastel-shaded buildings, attracts tourists from all over the world. From here it is possible to reach the North Cape, the most northerly point of mainland Europe.

Cruising Bear Island

Bear Island is the most southerly island of Svalbard and is home to a thriving bird population. As we cruise towards the rugged coastline, be enthralled by the multitude of sea birds that will slowly come in to view.

Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway

Longyearbyen is situated deep in the Norwegian Arctic on Spitsbergen, the largest of the Svalbard islands. Svalbard offers areas of untouched arctic wilderness that are home to Polar Bears and walruses and you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of one of these Arctic giants as we slowly cruise by. RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE Arctic Nature Walk – discover the unspoilt nature of Spitsbergen. Accompanied by a local guide and friendly husky, enjoy a hike to discover Arctic flora and fauna.

Barentsberg, Svalbard, Norway

glaciers, steep fjords, and plummeting waterfalls created by the incredible force of the Greenland ice cap.

Qaqortoq, Greenland

Home to only 500 inhabitants, Barentsberg is still the second largest town on Svalbard. Primarily a mining settlement, evidence of its Soviet-influenced past is still present today, making the history and landscape equally intriguing.

Viewed from the sea, the town is a delightful array of brightly coloured houses littering the hillside like confetti. Qaqortoq was founded by Norwegian traders in 1775 and it retains some beautiful colonial buildings from that time.

Jan Mayen Island – scenic cruising

Narsarsuaq, Greenland

Jan Mayen is a snow-capped volcanic island, partly covered by glaciers, located between Spitsbergen and Iceland. The island is a nature reserve, home to over 160,000 pairs of seabirds. As we glide gently past, you will have plenty of time to savour the stark and rugged coastline of this westernmost point of Norway.

Akureyri, Iceland

Akureyri was one of Lonely Planet’s top ten recommended European travel destinations in 2013. From here there are opportunities to see some of the stunning scenery, craters and waterfalls for which Iceland is renowned. RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE Whale Watching and Godafoss Waterfall – Board a boat and go in search of Blue, Fin, Humpback and Minke Whales, whilst also enjoying the fantastic coastal mountain scenery and wildlife. Then you’ll go on to Godafoss, ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ for a brilliant photo opportunity.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, is packed with museums, art galleries and theatres; those with an interest in arts and culture will be spoilt for choice. There is also an abundance of natural wonders just outside the city, such as the Blue Lagoon Health Spa, Thingvellir National Park, the Gullfoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls and the Geysir hot spring area.

Nestled on the banks of the Tunulliarfik Fjord, Narsarsuaq became home to a United States air base in 1941, when it served as a stepping stone to battle grounds of Europe. While fascinating relics still remain, this quaint settlement is now more commonly used as a station from which adventurers explore the magical Qoroq ice fjord. RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE Qoroq Ice Fjord – Sail into the heart of the Qoroq Ice fjord – amongst the icebergs and listen to them groan and crack as they move freely around you, seemingly taking on a life of their own.

ICELAND, GREENLAND AND NORWAY 2016

From Kristiansund, we embark on our first day of scenic cruising including our sailing past the Torghatten – the mountain with an unusual hole in it. Then, admire the Seven Sisters mountain range, with their distinctive peaks towering 3,500 ft high. After crossing the Arctic Circle, you will see one of the most famous glaciers in Norway, the mighty Svartisen.

Summer Dog Sledding – Learn the basics of ‘mushing’ and drive your dog sled along the fjord’s edge.

Nanortalik, Greenland
