Iconic Sail Away – My favourite sail away is definitely New York, passing the iconic Statue of Liberty with the Manhattan sky line in the back ground is a magical moment and one to treasure forever.
Porto - is a beautiful and historic city with much to offer. I was surprised at how great the shopping was in Porto, it’s not only great for luxury and high street brands but also offers quirky and bustling markets. I would just love to back and explore more.
Extend your holiday – Of course no cruise from New York would be complete without at stay in this exhilarating city. With so much to see and do, world class shopping and sensational cuisine, this is a city like no other. Must see and dos include; The breath-taking views from the top of Empire State Building and Roosevelt Centre, taking the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Staten Island, visiting the 9/11 memorial museum and strolling around Central Park. There’s so much to do – To make the most of your time in this sensational city I recommend using the hop on/ hop off bus tours, allowing you to take in the best of the sights and shopping. The Down Town Loop was my favourite as we combined shopping on 5th Avenue and the bright lights of Broadway and Times Square with Ground Zero, Statue of Liberty Ferry Terminal, Wall Street and Brooklyn Bridge.
People Watching - University students in their traditional university gowns wander around the streets in black capes which denote their status. That’s right, capes. This is how JK Rowling introduced the “Cape” for her famous Harry Potter books. This city is great for people watching! UNESCO World Heritage Site - You must visit the Ribiera Old district located along the Douro river. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with lots of charming houses, cafes and restaurants. The Porto Cathedral in its Baroque, Gothic style is also worth a visit in the historical centre. My recommendation - Enjoy the famous port wines of the Douro Valley on a shore excursion to one of the popular wineries. Porto is a hidden gem and definately worth a visit.
