Best Electrician once again
Dedicated, hard-working field electricians, amazing customers, skilled data technicians, great vendors and a service orientated office and management staff is the reason Mayer Electric and Mayer Technologies is Minot’s Reader’s Choice winner for the 7th straight year! Mayer Electric was incorporated in 1985 and is a woman-owned business with offices in Minot and Bismarck. Mayer is diversified and has added a new division this year, Mayer Appliance and Service Repair. Mayer Electric has always worked on restaurant equipment, but in 2017 they ventured into residential appliance repair along with the commercial and restaurant equipment repair. Their techs are EPA certified and, according to Dawn Klein, Mayer’s COO, “There isn’t anything we can’t fix, and we are lucky to have such great techs – give us a call today to schedule!” Mayer is truly your one-stop shop offering services for government, oil field, commercial, residential, and restaurant customers whether it’s contract, service, new construction or repair. They do it all! Their data technicians are Bisci certified and are skilled in fiber, data, card access, cameras, and phone systems. The Vice President of Mayer Technologies, Wayne Jenkins, holds a Nicet Level IV certification and handles fire alarm design and security systems making Mayer the most diverse low voltage contractor in Western North Dakota. No matter your needs, Mayer can handle it! Mayer Electric was “born and raised” in the Minot area and the honor of being Minot’s Reader’s Choice is one of its greatest accomplishments! It’s a privilege to serve the Minot and surrounding areas and that will never be taken for granted. Thank you to our employees, customers, vendors and friends who drive us to stay on the leading edge!

They have some of the top educators in the industry coming all the way to Minot, North Dakota to teach classes multiple times a year! Great atmosphere, cuisine at No. 1 Fine Dining site Elevation’s Owner Mike Miller is honored to receive this recognition for No. 1 in Fine Dining in the Minot Community. Elevation opened its doors in June 2015, along side the Minot Country Club. Elevation is a locally owned restaurant, open to anyone, not just the members of the club. Open year round, 7 days a week, serving lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. Although reservations are not required, they are welcomed. The large dining room can host large groups for dinner and special occasions. You can make a reservation to celebrate your anniversary and have a dessert on us. Grab a seat in the 1685 Bar and take in the amazing views of the golf course. Soak up the Minot sun during the summer months on their balcony, overlooking the MCC golf course. Our menu changes twice a year to offer in season, fresh plates. Chef Barry’s love for cooking is apparent in each and every menu item offered. “As a Chef, being able to have an owner who allows freedom in our food selection is second to none. My passion is being in a kitchen, creating new dishes, and of course hearing how our customers enjoy Elevation, and our menu,” says Chef Barry. “As a long time citizen of the Minot area, I believe that
what we offer at Elevation is an experience like no other in the community. Myself, and the Elevation team, sincerely thank you for voting us #1 in Fine Dining. I’m looking forward to making your experience at Elevation even better in the upcoming years,”Mike Miller, owner. “My team and I, truly enjoy what we do everyday. We want every customer to have a great experience while they are with us. At Elevation, we are so fortunate of having a beautiful facility to pair with our menu, and of course our views are breathtaking,” Victoria Cofell, General Manager. Be sure to dine at Elevation for your next dinner out and you will see why Minot voted Elevation No. 1 in Fine Dining!

Jerome’s Collision Center
O
h my! The excellence continues. Jerome’s Collision Center has once again been voted the No 1 collision center in Minot. That’s nine consecutive years! A big reason why, says owner Jay Lundeen, is that Jerome’s has been able to maintain a consistent level of commitment to being a premier collision repair shop. “We appreciate the consistency. The community votes us as the number one collision center, so that makes us feel pretty good in the respect that we’re being consistent too. We are proving that by our customers telling us we are the number one choice for auto collision repair in Minot,” stated Lundeen. Customers have come to trust Jerome’s for doing excellent repair work in a timely manner. they provide a high level of service that is expected by customers trusting a prized possession, their automobile, to the care of experienced collision center technicians. While quality work is a given at Jerome’s there’s much more that goes into earning a customer’s trust and the title of Best Collision Center in the city. “It isn’t just fixing a car or truck. We humanize it in the respect that we’re working with the person driving that vehicle,” explained Lundeen. “We’re making that their situation, their life, their getting to work and the stress of it all isn’t as stressful as it could be. We make an effort to do that so they don’t have to think about it. I think that’s the biggest thing that separates us from others.” Vehicle accidents are often very emotional experiences. Drivers and passengers can be adversely effected beyond concerns about a damaged ride and getting it repaired. “They can be a little shook up, such as getting a fender bender while taking the kids to school,” said Lundeen. “The stress re-

sponse to that is still there a couple of hours later. How you treat that person is a big deal.” Customers are treated right at Jerome’s. Their staff of understanding professionals works closely with all customers, consistently earning the trust of those who place the care of their vehicle to a collision center. At Jerome’s the trust is earned every day. “We pay attention. It’s not just customer service. That’s a cliche, but really connecting with our customer on a personal level and understanding what they are going through. What we do and how we do it is all predicated on that, how we keep them informed and communicate with them when their vehicle leaves the shop.”
Part of being No. 1 for Jerome’s Collision Center is that they are a full-service facility. Vehicles that come in for repairs generally stay under one roof until ready to be released to the customer. It is the outstanding record of excellent work that keeps Jerome’s customers satisfied, so much so that the continue to rate them as the city’s top collision center. Customers want to know when repairs on a vehicle will be completed and whether or not the completion date will be met. With all the variables present in automotive repair, the answer is not always an easy one. However, Jerome’s staff works to insure complete repairs in as timely a manner as possible.
again! “In this world we live in where everybody is working and doing their thing, it’s very important that you are accurate when you say something is going to be done,” said Lundeen. “We’re not perfect, but we work on it and strive for it and conscious of it every day.” It is that level of commitment to customers and quality that pushes Jerome’s to be the best collision center in the region. It is why Jerome’s Collision Center has once again been fittingly recognized by customers as number one in Minot. Jerome’s Collision Center is located at 2705 North Broadway. They can be reached at 852-5126.

DR. DARIN JOHNSON
Future Builders is Minot’s
NO. 1 BUILDING CONTRACTOR Future Builders is the Minot Daily News’ Readers Choice Award winner for No. 1 Building Contractor in Minot. The Minot contractor has been in business since 1999. Owners include president Duane Johnson, Eric Wanner, Matt Geinert and Kyle Morey. Johnson said the business has grown from its beginnings almost 20 years ago. They started out building a couple of homes each year. Now, there are years when they build 40 homes or more per year. At the beginning, they did mostly house construction and general contracting of those homes. They have now expanded into other areas too. In 2015, Future Builders purchased Steen Construction. The business now runs its excavating and municipal and residential underground utilities within that company. In 2017, Future Builders purchased Lite-Form Construction and now runs its concrete company within Lite-Form Construction and have added a residential excavation and backfill team to Lite-Form. The team has a lot to be proud of. Its general contracting team, office staff and onsite employees are constantly working to get better. Its customer service representatives are always willing to go the extra mile. They take calls and look into a situation for a customer whether the the warranty has expired or not. That devotion to they started the business in 1999. The owners also have worked with great homeowners and a great team of subcontractors. “What we do is more than just a job,” said Johnson. “It is a love for the industry. The key to working in our company is that you have that passion.”

Comforting food, friendly atmosphere,
Schatz Crossroads Restaurant
is Minot’s No. 1 breakfast spot
S
chatz Crossroads Restaurant has been serving consistently good home cooked meals to the residents of Minot since 1977. Located inside of the truck stop and open 24 hours a day, Schatz Crossroads Restaurant caters to the early bird, the night owl, and the weary traveler. Local residents fill the seats on weekend mornings meeting friends, family and neighbors to socialize over hot plates heaping with comforting cuisine.
Some of the most highly recommended items are the home-made Caramel Rolls or the #99 Hashbrown Combo. Many people have their personal favorites and the menu is expansive! The Steak and Eggs has always been a popular item - as well as the Chicken Fried Steak, Biscuits & Gravy, The Haystack, Spanish omelet, Eggs Benedict or even our oversized pancakes. The portions have always been quite hearty and we enjoy making sure customers leave full.

Broadway Bean & Bagel aspire No. 1 for fresh, unique sandwiches Sandwich Shop For decades, Broadway Bean & Bagel has grown with the Minot Community and have loved every minute of it. Since 1995, our menu has adapted to our customers, friends and inventions of our amazing sandwich makers. We of course have our traditional sandwiches like Clubs and Lox, but we have many signature sandwiches you won’t find anywhere else. For our Original Sandwich, originally known as the KT, we take a fresh baked parmesan bagel and then add more parmesan on a dip in the inside before we add freshly sliced smoked turkey, red onions, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and our house dressing. It has been a favorite in Minot for years and when people come back to town from moving away, they come running in to have the Original! Sandwiches aren’t just for lunch either. We are home of the Eggel Sandwich which is a breakfast sandwich like no other. Two fresh cracked eggs specially prepared on your choice of bagel or croissant with choices of Cloverdale ham, bacon or sausage and cheese. You are also able to choose a Sriracha or Denver Eggel which are always a hit. Variety is the spice of life and we agree! If you want a Lunch sandwich at 7 a.m. we will make it for you or if you are a late riser and want a breakfast sandwich at 2 p.m. we will do it! Sandwiches, salads & our specialty drinks are all made when you order them. We never premake and let them sit in a cooler or under heat lamps. Thank you for naming Broadway Bean & Bagel your favorite sandwich shop.

First Western named No. 1 Bank in Minot
We are again honored to be voted the Reader’s Choice #1 Bank in Minot. Thank you to all who voted for us. We pride ourselves on being part of the Minot community – a community that is built by hard-working people. Brenda Foster, President, CEO & Chairman of the Board, states, “One of the great benefits of having a local independent bank is making those important decisions right here, locally, by those that understand what the true need is. It means we get to react faster with a quicker solution for the community and our customers.” We are extremely privileged to have an outstanding Board of Directors. These are people who are leaders in their field and have a pulse on the Minot community and the trends in business. They provide us with guidance and input from their perspectives. Our number one asset is our people. Foster says, “I believe people are the key to the bank’s long success. Minot’s greatest assets are in its wonderful people.” “They are the strength we rely on daily to push Minot forward into the future, making us an even stronger community,” she said. First Western Bank & Trust was founded by Jack Hoeven, who strongly believed in excellent customer service. Sadly, we lost Mr. Hoeven this summer. “While we greatly miss the advice and presence of Mr. Hoeven, he was al-
ways thinking about the community and bank in his succession plan. We have incredible leadership throughout the bank and strength in our team in every department and location,” says Foster. She added, “Our bank leaders and employees will carry on Mr. Hoeven’s legacy with longterm vision and pride.” In the spring of 2017 we broke ground on our bank in the Bismarck/Mandan community. We have already assembled a team with vast knowledge in banking and deep roots in the Bismarck community, and they are contin-
uing the same commitment to customers and community that our Minot locations have done for over 53 years. We look forward to the opening of our new bank building in the heart of downtown Bismarck in the fall of 2018. We as a bank stress the importance of giving back. “Giving back to the communities we live in is a huge part of the culture at First Western Bank and Trust,” stated Sabrina Herrmann, Marketing Specialist Officer & Outreach Committee Chair. “A thriving community helps support local businesses and also develops our
leaders, giving back to the community benefits everyone. All of our employees are encouraged and supported in being involved in service groups and community fundraisers. Our employees are more fulfilled in their daily jobs by being able to give back to the community they live in and support causes that are important to them.” We operate as a full service financial center providing traditional banking products as well as trust services, all lines of insurance, leasing, and much more. We are Minot’s only locally-owned in-
dependent hometown bank providing all of the advanced banking services that our customers need in today’s banking world. We offer a variety of online services; NetTeller, a web based smart phone and tablet app, e-statements, RDA (Remote Deposit Anywhere), Cash Management and many additional services. We continue to offer the longest drive-through hours in Minot. Once again, thank you for voting for First Western Bank & Trust as #1 Bank in Minot. We are proud to serve the community and call Minot our home.

Choice Auto Glass:
Best auto window/glass dealer “We’re good at windshields, but maybe not so much at writing,” said Jeff Hooker, owner of Choice Auto Glass, when told his shop was voted Number 1 by readers of the Minot Daily News. Fair enough. There’s no arguing that Choice Auto Glass excels at windshield work. The business is somewhat tucked away on a side street off Burdick Expressway. However, the top shop should not be overlooked by anyone in need of and type of windshield repair. The address for Choice Auto Glass is 800 5th Avenue Southwest. Hooker, owner and manager, had been working for a dealership in town before striking out on his own and starting his own business. Choice Auto Glass has been in operation since 2011. They are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. “We’re pretty busy,” said Hooker. “Very seldom do we have nothing to do.” That’s understandable, given the high marks Choice Auto Glass has received from the public. “Business has been excellent,” Hooker said. “The clientele has also been very good.”
On top of that, added Hooker, he is graced with excellent employees. Some of them followed him when he started his own business. Everybody has been very satisfied with the work done at Choice Auto Glass, Hooker said. The employees will vacuum the front of the customer’s car, he continued, and Choice Auto Glass will also do other necessary fixes on items such as regulators or other windows on the car that need repairing. Hook said they do a lot of glass repair on semi-trailer trucks and heavy equipment and chip repairs. Choice Auto Glass works with all insurance companies and gives rides to customers who have to leave their vehicle at the shop. “We want to give people service like they’d get in a small town,” said Hooker. “We want to be simple, easy, nice and approachable. We don’t cut any corners when replacing windows. We offer the best product for a reasonable price. I want to thank our customers for making us number one.”
