STUART WOOD
FBIPP FSWPP FMPA
Stuart Wood’s work is varied, but his specialties are people and lifestyle, where
his ability to easily and quickly connect with people mean that he is especially successful in getting his subjects to open up and bringing more out of them. Apart from regular commissions for his TV and magazine clients such as the BBC, ITV, Radio Times and Grazia, a lot of his assignments are in corporate portraiture, book commissions and annual reports. Again, this is an area where he feels his open and relaxed style helps his business subjects feel at ease. Being based in Derby is an advantage as he can easily get to most places in the UK, with much of his work being in London

STEPHANIE S SCICLUNA BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design & BA (Hons) Photography Stemming from a long line of artists and photographers, Stephanie S. Scicluna’s venture into the photographic world started from an early age. Shooting commissions whilst failing in academics at age 16, she soon realised her opportunities here were very limited. Soon thereafter she moved to England to seek out the education she desired. Already having years of experience and technical knowledge under her belt, she quickly dove into the photographic scene. She achieved a national diploma and a first class bachelors degree with honours in Photography from UCA, Farnham. Whilst still in education herself, she tutored at the Kiln photography studio and ran bookbinding workshops in the Bookroom.
Stephanie has also spent a year in India where she studied film at MIT in Pune and spent 5 months exploring and photographing the country. Her young career has already spanned a multitude of different experiences, including shooting commercials in Mumbai, working on film sets in Kathmandu and spending a few weeks living in an Ethiopian orphanage. Stephanie has lived, worked and made photographic projects worldwide. Her work is largely project based, dealing with socio-political issues and concerns. Through photographs and film, her work combines fine art and documentary photography, backed by a strong narrative. Her work has been shown in exhibitions through Surrey and London.
Personal Development in Photography Friday 14th November 10:30am A fresh, inspiring insight that will stimulate delegates’ imagination to pursue their personal vision in photography The Art of Collecting Friday 14th November 16:00pm This session, paired with a workshop the following day, aims to develop the participants’ way of seeing. This talk will focus on the photographic typology and its many variations. A typology is essential a collection of types, a gathering of the same, but different. The art of collecting and seeking out similarity and repetition has appealed to the photographer eye for many decades. In this session, Stephanie will give a brief history on the variation and evolution of the photographic typology from 1929 to the present. This talk will be followed by a workshop on the genre the following day. Workshop: Typology Hunt

RAMON SAMMUT QEP, AMIPP, DIPP, ASWPP, LMPA Ramon Sammut started photography with the help of a pro photog-
rapher and friend. He studied photography on his own and later he expanded his knowledge in England and the States. Luckily for him, he started digital manipulations from an early stage, when digital photography was still at its infancy. Such early primitive work pushed Ramon to be the first person in the Maltese islands to find a niche market: that of consulting other fellow photographers as regards to “ the digital way”. With his main office in the heart of the island of Malta, Ramon works on digital editing, tuition and commercial photography, while offering consultancy and business strategy for newcomers in the digital photographic environment, not solely to his local colleagues but also to established photographers in the UK. As regards to the artistic side, Ramon’s work is quite unique, producing image compositions his way: the hard way. His developed style, both in editing and in digital photographic tuitions, is very much on
demand. His style is also very popular and demanded by his established clientele. Ramon is a senior image editor, photographer and printer with a difference. His effective style and approach made him successful and is considered as one of the best digital image editors in Malta, where digital monochrome is his speciality that mimics the good old times while flavouring it with today’s technology. His main customers are photographers, trade companies and agencies with the lust to achieve more in today’s competitive digital world. His fluid approach and technically advanced editing created a distinctive style, which standardised his work and made it Ramon’s patent.
JOE ATTARD AMPS Joe Attard has been an active photographer for the past thirty five
years. After a spell as a professional in the 70’s and early 80’s working mainly in the advertising and commercial fields, Joe reverted to amateur status, which he believes, gives him more space to express himself photographically. His lifelong preferred medium is monochrome, and his work shows an evident mastering of technique, which he blends well with a fresh, modern approach in depicting his images. Joe is an Associate of the Malta Photographic Society (AMPS) and has won the coveted Photographer of the Year award for four times in 1984, 1985, 1987 and 1997. He has had various works accepted and exhibited both locally and in International Salons of Photography. Presently Joe lectures photography at the MCAST Institute of Art and Design.
