2025 buyer’s guide

Become a Schlegel Customer

If you would like to set up an account with us, we require a Resale Tax Certificate or Tax Exemption Certificate. Please complete our New Customer Setup form and return to us by email to get started. We welcome you to contact us if you have questions about becoming a customer.

Are you more than 150 miles from Schlegel? While we welcome new customers from areas outside of our 150-mile delivery radius of Indianapolis, IN, orders placed from customers outside this area are generally for Pick Up only.

Customers outside of our designated delivery routes are subject to Pick Up only status unless otherwise approved by Schlegel. Some locations outside of our routes may be subject to specific minimums, delivery surcharges, and/or delivery dates set by Schlegel.

Ordering Information

All orders are subject to product availability. Order early for best selection!

A Tentative Shipping List or Order Acknowledgment will be sent to you via email to confirm your order. All Invoices are hand delivered with your order. We also email invoices.

Placing an Order

Ordering is easy!

For plants you would like shipped or picked up in the current or following week, order online from the “Current Availability” section on our website. If you have a prebook order with us, you can order those items from the “My Reserved Items” section on our website. Plants are added to our availability only when they have reached the proper growth or bud/bloom stage.

Our availability is updated weekly. Next day orders are not possible on our online ordering system. No Walk-ins. Please call to schedule an appointment.

PREBOOK ORDER GUIDELINES

New Minimum for Prebook Orders:

We’re introducing a $5,000 minimum for prebook orders. All prebooked items which are ready will be delivered and invoiced by Week 19, just in time for the Mother’s Day rush!

Standard Prebook Minimum for Larger Customers:

For our larger customers, the prebook minimum remains at $10,000. You’re welcome to schedule deliveries as your items become ready throughout the season.

Annuals only. Houseplants are not available for prebook.

NOTE: There is a 5 item/variety minimum per product on prebook orders. Example, if you want to prebook Red Calliope Geranium flats, you must prebook at least 5 flats. Likewise, if you want 10” Begonia Hanging Baskets, you must prebook at least 5 of that specific basket. No onesies or twosies please!

Substitutions. Due to reasons beyond our control such as climate setbacks or unexpected crop loss, our inventory is subject to change without notice. To fulfill your orders, we may make substitutions. We always strive to come as close as possible to your original selections. If you do not want substitutions, please let us know so we can mark your account as such.

Order Minimums

Order minimums change seasonally and during peak season sales. For Pickup orders at our facility, there is no minimum order.

For orders to be DELIVERED, order values must be:

April 27 - May 31, Minimum $2000

June 1 - December 31, Minimum $1,500

Pricing

Prices are listed on our website for Active Accounts and require a Login. Annuals are sold “per pot” or “full tray” as listed on our website. Any royalties are included in the sales price.

You will order in full trays (flats) unless varieties are listed as “Each”.

Our houseplants do not have a required minimum order quantity per variety: Houseplants that are sold in full flats will be listed as “Case” or “Full Flat”.

Discounts

Seasonal Promotions may occur throughout the year and are announced through email. Sign up to receive our email notifications.

Discounts apply to plant products only and do not apply to any additional services or delivery fees.

Discounts will not be given for orders from customers with overdue balances.

Schlegel Greenhouse is dedicated to getting your shipment ready and to you!

Orders for delivery require a minimum of 5 business days to process and pull your order. Please place your order at least 5 days prior to your requested ship date.

Delivery Timeline Update During Peak

Season

During our busiest times of the year, delivery timelines may vary. Factors such as delivery truck availability and driving distance can impact scheduling. We appreciate your understanding and recommend placing orders early to ensure timely delivery. Thank you for your patience and support!

Delivery Policy and Fees are based on shipping distance from our greenhouses and can include and fuel surcharge. See back page for details.

To expedite unloading, please have personnel ready to unload. Our drivers are NOT responsible for unloading product off of shipping carts. Additional fees will be charged if a driver is required to unload shipping carts or experiences a long wait time to be unloaded.

Shipping Carts should be emptied and returned with the driver.

Please inspect your order upon delivery. You may return unsatisfactory plants with the driver. Mark the item on the driver’s paperwork and indicate in writing why you are returning the item. Satisfactory items that are returned will incur a $50 restocking fee.

To file a claim on an order, please EMAIL detailed information with photos to:

cancellations

A 20% restocking fee will be charged to the customer on any order that is cancelled after the order has been pulled and prepared for delivery and/or not picked up within 2 days from the requested pickup date.

Unsaleable items on cancelled orders will be charged to the customer.

Terms of Sale

All orders are fulfilled subject to plant availability. This includes Pre-book Orders.

Customers who wish to purchase plants at wholesale prices from Schlegel Greenhouse must provide a valid Resale Tax Certificate or Tax Exempt Certificate.

All sales are taxable unless we have a signed State Exemption Certificate form on file.

All sales are on a “cash on delivery” (COD) basis unless a credit account has been established.

For customers with a credit account, our terms are NET 30 days from the invoice date.

We accept cash, check, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and VISA.

All payments using a credit card will be subject to a 3% processing fee, which will be calculated using the final invoice total.

Prices are FOB your facility which means the buyer pays delivery fees and assumes responsibility of goods once they are delivered to your location.

Customer accounts with checks returned for non-sufficient funds will be assessed a $35.00 fee.

The customer acknowledges acceptance of these terms of sale when the customer places an order or applies for a credit account.

In the event an account remains unpaid 30 days after the invoice date, the customer shall pay a service charge of 2% per month, and reasonable attorney fees and collection costs relating to enforcing our rights under these terms of sale.

Credit Accounts that remain unpaid 60 days after the invoice date will automatically become COD accounts, and a new Application for Credit may be required to verify credit status.

The customer agrees that these terms of sale and any order placed by the customer are governed by Indiana law, and the customer further agrees that Marion County, Indiana has jurisdiction over any and all disputes that may arise hereunder.

OUR DELIVERY POLICY

We strive to provide timely and cost-effective delivery services. Below is our delivery policy to ensure transparency and equity for all our customers.

Standard Delivery Zones

We offer delivery to the following areas as part of our normal routes:

Zone 1 Marion County, IN

Delivery Fee: $60

Zone 2 Surrounding counties of Marion County, IN

Delivery Fee: $80

Zone 3 As far south as Bloomington & Nashville, IN (I-69 & 1-35)

Delivery Fee: $100

Zone 4 As far east as Dayton, OH (I-70)

Delivery Fee: $120

Zone 5 As far south as Louisville, KY (I-65)

Delivery Fee: $120

Order Minimums (April 27–May 31):

Zones 1 and 2: $2,000 minimum order for delivery. Zones 3, 4, and 5: $3,000 minimum order for delivery.

Extended Delivery Zones

For areas outside our Standard Zones, we apply a flat fee or a per-mile surcharge:

Flat Fee: $150 for orders within 50 miles outside Standard Zones. Per-Mile Surcharge: $1.50 per mile beyond Standard Zones (calculated from 705 Sprague Street, Indianapolis, IN).

Flexibility for Extended Zones:

Customers in Extended Zones will need to remain flexible as to when they receive delivery. We strive to bundle customers together to maximize efficiency, and specific delivery dates may not always be available.

Special Delivery Requests

Deliveries outside of Standard and Extended Zones will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional fees and scheduling flexibility may apply.

Consolidated Delivery Days

To reduce costs for Extended Zone deliveries, we may consolidate orders to specific delivery days. Customers will be notified in advance.

Order Lead Time

Orders for delivery must be placed at least five business days in advance to ensure scheduling availability.
