EXPERIENCE My work experience includes costume design for theatres, styling assistance at a music video shoot, care-work of elderly people and educational care of children. My strengths in all fields have been my patience, my care and precision, my scheduling abilities and my cheery and open attitude towards the job at hand and life in general. As additional experience I have coordinated a fashion show (Shimmer, Helsinki 2012) and produced a music & culture festival (Grape Festival, Kirkkonummi 2010). ADINKRA “Adinkra” is my Zero-Waste collection of men’s shirts. Adinkra is also an ancient Ghanaian language of aphorisms. It is full of wisdom. Some of these wisdoms are included in the composition and design of each shirt of my miniature collection. Global unity and sustainable customs serve as a base for this project. West African wax print fabrics and Bogolan cloths from Mali have inspired through their vibrant world of colours and through the sustainable processes and possibilities they enable.

Nea Onnim No Sua A, Ohu

“He who does not know can know from learning” Life is a continued quest for knowledge. This shirt reflects lifelong learning and a continuous, uncut flow.

Fawohodie Ene Obre Na Enam

“Independence comes with its responsibilities The challenge was to make the patterns out of a full piece, not leaving excess. This made for an independent piece of waste-responsible shirt.

Ese Ne Tekrema

“the teeth and the tongue The power of interdependence is strong. Without the accessory the shirt would not be complete and without the shirt the accessory would not exist.

SKIN TO BODY Breathe because you want to, Feel your skin move. Translucence is your essence and your safe harbour. Be brave because you know how to, Shine in the unseen but cut like an edge. Your shape is peeling with a cool flow. Be vulnerable because you can, Use it to your advantage. The softness pays off in the end. This women’s wear collection for Spring/Summer 2014 is an exploration of the human body and the protecting shell covering it. It is an organic contrast between shear and thick, transparent and dense.

Collection overview, colour alternatives

NO BOARDERS No Boarders is a play with words and a men’s wear collection for Autumn/Winter 2014-2015. The inspiration came from skateboarding culture, smart textiles, thermochromic finishes and patterns by Textile Design student Pirjo Vuohtoniemi. The collection includes a fashionable and wearable take on durable values and innovative solutions. Multi-use garments, waste control (through interchangeable cut-waste pockets) and classic shapes make for an intelligent whole. No Boarders challenges the conventional norms for clothing but still keeps them easily approachable and desirable. Fun, fresh, fearless!

MINI COLLECTION She was one and she had the power to unite. In one hand she held the dynamic North, in the other she held the luscious South. Both of them she kept safe in her pockets. The bearing theme for this miniature collection for A/W 2013-2014 is wintertime carrying. Exploration of different pocket concepts made out the main innovation. I also played with the possibility of living in clothes, multi-purpose garments and multi-use elements. Ethnic meets urban through the flow of drapes and the graphical shapes. Felt, wool, Finnish birch wood and reindeer leather support a natural lifestyle in these clothes. The miniature collection was realized as a brochure and with different illustration techniques.

BIO MATERIAL My visions for the future of Design include biomimicry and the adaptation of industry and technology to natural eco systems. My exploration of cellulose producing bacteria-yeast colonies and their utilization for clothing and art, is a part of the biodesign revolution and the paradigm shift of clothing design. By re-inventing the basics of clothing design I believe we can start an exciting journey towards healthy, fair and effective innovation.
