Baby Bib and Burp Cloth (page 2 of 2) Supplies Note: The following will make two burp cloths and two bibs. • 1 cotton diaper (the one I used measured 14 x 20 inches, but any standard size will do) • 1 fat quarter • 2 packages of coordinating double-fold bias tape (or you can make your own – you’ll need 5 yards or so) • Basic sewing supplies Instructions 1. Use the cutting diagram at right to cut two burp cloths and two bibs from the diaper. 2. Use the same diagram to cut the fat quarter. 3. Pin the diaper pieces to the wrong side of the fabric and sew closely around the edge. 4. Pin and sew the bias tape all the way around the burp cloth. 5. Pin and sew a piece of bias tape to the neck area of the bib. 6. Measure a piece of bias tape the length of the outside of the bib PLUS 24 inches (the extra will be the ties). 7. Place the center edge of the bias tape to the center dot of the bib (marked on the cutting diagram), and pin and sew the bias tape to the bib, continuing to sew along the edge of the ties. Note: To use the burp cloth, put it over your shoulder diaper-side up, because the diaper is absorbent.
