Lieutenant Colonel Martin has been an integral part of the Misawa community! He commanded 561 personnel and oversaw 45 facilities that provided services and programming to 11,000 people. During his tenure, he directed actions that added 27 additional CDC slots and recruited eight Family Child Care (FCC) providers to take care of our #1 assets, our children. He also implemented the vision and execution of the $25 million Campus Plan that is expected to improve the quality of life for Misawa residents over the next two years. This plan will modernize dining, shopping, and experiences at FSS facilities by creating a mall-like concept.

During the pandemic, Lt Col Martin directed 24-hour contingency operations that safely housed 1,500 individuals in ROM and isolation. Additionally, he forged a new path as he instituted the first overseas Campus Dining System, expanding dining options to our enlisted meal card holders at five FSS locations. These are just a few of the many ways his leadership has impacted our lives since taking command.

The Misawa Air Base community is extremely grateful to Lt Col Martin. We wish him, his wife Amanda and their three children all the best as they move to their new duty station.
