KAYAKING 101

Saturdays | May 6 & July 8

Ages 13+

Have you ever been interested in kayaking, or been too nervous to try it on your own in open water? Join us at the Himberg Pool to learn all the basics of kayaking. We will teach you the different paddle strokes, how to enter and exit your kayak, and basic kayak safety.

This is a great class for anyone who has never kayaked or wants to freshen up on their current skills. We will be in confined water, with a trained kayak instructor, which is the perfect setting for beginners.

• Basic swimming abilities are required.

Kayaking Safety 101

Saturdays | May 13 & July 22

Departs | 1 p.m. Returns | 5 p.m.

$35 per person

Ages 13+

Learn the different types of kayaking rescues, and the safety that goes into sit-on-top kayaking and sea kayaking. We will go over how to self-rescue, team rescues, wet exit, assisted rolls, t-rescues and much more. This class is designed for experienced kayakers who want to take their knowledge to the next level and be prepared for any situation.

• Basic swimming abilities are required.

• Ages 13–17 may participate if they’ve already taken Kayaking 101.

Pride Ride

KAYAKING & BONFIRE

Saturday, June 3

Ages 6+

Enjoy the Japan sunset on a kayak out at the Base Beach. Afterwards, the ODR team will make a bonfire to enjoy s’mores, time with friends and family, and the changing colors of the fire. No kayaking experience is required, we will show you everything you need to know and outfit you for fun.

Includes: adventure guide sit-on-top kayak and personal flotation device

• Basic swimming abilities are required.

• Single kayaks are for individuals ages 13+. Individuals 12 & under must ride in a double kayak with a person ages 18+.

Family Kayak

Sundays | June 11, July 16, Aug. 6 & Sept. 3

Ages 6+

Less than 30 minutes from the main gate is a beautiful pond full of colorful lotus blossoms, and you’ll get to see them up close from your kayak! Absolutely no experience is required, we will show you everything you need to know and outfit you for fun!

SUNSET PAINT & NIGHT KAYAK

Ages 16+

What's more fun than combining FSS activities on one epic adventure? The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Once we arrive at Lake Towada we'll start kayaking, then pull up onto shore to paint the sunset. Once our paintings are complete we'll go back out on the water to paddle under the stars. Distance isn’t the goal of adventure, making memories and keepsakes is. Includes: transportation, adventure guide, sit-on-top kayaks, light bars, guided painting instruction and painting supplies

FALL KAYAK

Saturday, Sept. 23 Departs | 8 a.m. Returns | 5 p.m. $55 per person | $45 RecOn price

Ages 14+

Enjoy the local fall colors of Lake Towada while we kayak across the lake enjoying the beautiful scenery of the mountains around us, as well as the beautiful crystal-clear spring water. Includes: transportation, adventure guide, sit-on-top kayak and personal flotation device
