Village Alive Residential Assisted Living Village
Welcoming new residents with Dementia and Altzheimer’s concept Modify an existing building on existing acreage and create a fully functioning assisted living facility for Dementia and Altzheimer’s patients that mimics the feel of small village living. Staff will live amongst the residents in homes designed to look the same as the patient’s last cognitive memory of their surroundings. ADA Codes will be met, assuring the maximum safety for the residents. In addition, a LEED AP will headline the entire process to ensure maximum utilization of all energy-saving and environmentally conscious applications.
wayfinding factors Pathways in this facility are not only helpful in wayfinding, but because of their strategic starting/stopping points, they add the value of safety and security when roaming around the facility. The only way to enter this gated community is through the main front entrance, and visitors must go through a sign in process to be admitted. In addition, there is only one way in and out of the actual facility grounds - this is through the lobby area, which will have a minimum of two employees on site at all times. Upon being approved through the front desk, the security doors will be unlocked, therefore allowing entrance to the actual grounds.
universal design In other common area facilities, it will be standard practice to have plenty of benched seating along walkways and outdoor paths. Indoor corridors will easily meet or exceed the Codes allowance of 60” width, have wall bars installed, and will have appropriate wayfinding techniques implemented that are both decorative and visible for the users of this facility.
