MEET THE NEW GAAC Changes and celebrations abound in 2018. A new name, Glen Arbor Arts Center, indicates a destination for artists and art lovers alike—a place for the community to gather for arts-related education and creative experiences. The colorful new logo is inspired by the woodland setting in the heart of Glen Arbor. The bright, new GAAC facility is vibrating with joyous energy. Purchasing the adjacent property provided the space for a sizable gallery, a classroom/ meeting room, an office suite, a covered entrance, a second restroom, and storage. Comfortable event chairs have been purchased. The driveway has been widened to include a walking path and a few more parking spaces. The expansion allows for more events year round. We thank the community for making this happen. Inside this program catalog is an exciting array of programs designed to inspire, motivate, enrich and fuel creativity.

An expanded approach to this format will allow the group to explore a wider range of plays, including works by local playwrights. Peformances held at Glen Lake Community Reformed Church, Free

AESTHETIC IDEAS
2018 EXHIBITIONS Our new gallery and exhibitions space opened January 12, 2018 with “New Gallery/New Work,” an invitational exhibition featuring the work of 25 visual artists from Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Manistee counties. In its first year, the GAAC Exhibitions Program is offering 12 months of humanities-based, ideas-driven shows that use the visual, performing, written, and spoken arts as a context and tool for a range of creative ideas. And because we believe that exhibitions are more diverse and dynamic than simply an installation of pictures on the gallery walls, exhibitions will be enhanced and explored through a wide range of complementary and supportive programming.
STUDENT EXHIBITION March is National Youth Art Month! March 1 – 23 Featuring the work of Glen Lake Elementary students, and our own Little Creatives in the After-School Art program.

Seven artists have been invited to participate in the GAAC’s program of focused work time. A delightful feature of the program is the artists’ presentations — a short, conversational talk given by each resident at the end of their two-week stay. Artists reflect on their residencies, and often share work undertaken during their stay. And, we always leave time for questions. A great opportunity to gain insights into the thinking and processes of working artists. Free.
