“I’ve always been fascinated by graffiti.”

Chris Thomas,29

I’ve always been fascinated by graffiti. I travel a lot, and anytime I travel I go to something like san Francisco, the whole West Coast, up and down the East Coast and every city I go to, I take pictures of all the street art

and graffiti.

I was in an in between job: I was a teacher then I was switching to Sales and in my interim I kind of was just like why don’t I try it because I’ve always been and artsy person.

I came down here because you’re allowed to do it here, which is pretty neat, and I put up some pieces. I’ve tried a couple pieces and these is my fourth or fifth one. It’s kind of cool and it’s a different medium, a different kind of way to express yourself which is pretty neat.

Westley Bauman Westley

is from a small town in Connecticut, It’s about 2, 000 people, but he isn’t sure, but everyone knows everyone, and you can’t spray paint. They have really hard lockdown on trying to get it, even one of my friends came and tag his name over there (graffiti Alley).

He had 5,000 restitutions because of his sketchbook, so I’ve never really gotten a chance to fully express myself, other than on a walls on his house, but I got here to Baltimore and saw this (Graffiti Alley) and said Fuck Yea! So know I’m doing big things, I want to be Muralist.

It’s been going pretty well, I do a lot of painting, I paint kind of in a blocky way, I like that style. I’ve never really liked letters much, that’s more of a graffiti style., and it’s also about the people you meet, like my man Drew, he is great. He is always here because he has nowhere to go, but I love him.

Westley know leaves in Baltimore and goes to Maryland Institute College of Arts, MICA, he is studying painting.

Angry Kevin!

“He is a sort of a galvanizing figure in Baltimore among other graffiti artists,” says Justin O’ Donnell. He started off writing the word Angry Kevin and then he would do these character from a nickelodeon cartoon called ‘Hey Arnold’. He would spray paint artwork, with a frown, looking upset or angry and then writes angry Kevin right underneath it.

For the last 2 years, you see his work everywhere, and he just doesn’t do graffiti, he does stickers, primarily Kevin figures, but he does other characters too. You see the stickers everywhere you’ll see the angry Kevin head, just the name, all over town. Ranging from pretty big pieces to just handwritten pieces, with like a white oil pen or paint, in a bathroom wall or man hole cave.
