A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome back to Horseshoe Bay Resort and the 2018 USTA Texas Annual Meeting! As has been the custom, we are meeting concurrently with the USPTA Texas division, so we have lots of tennis DNA in the house. With more than 200 volunteers and staff members in attendance, there is no better time to move tennis forward and I trust your committee meetings will focus on this mission. Please join us at 8 a.m. Saturday for the General Session. This is an opportunity to hear about major initiatives that USTA Texas is engaged in and serves as the launching point for a full day of committee meetings. This gathers our Texas tennis family together in one room, but remember: you are also welcome to sit in on the Annual Meeting of the Membership and Executive Committee meeting on Sunday morning, which serves as a round-up of business conducted over the weekend. We extend a warm welcome to our guest speakers for the weekend including Stacey Allaster, CEO of Professional Tennis for USTA, Reid Ryan, President of Business Operations for the Houston Astros, and Jeff Baill from USTA’s National Board of Directors. Stacey will kick off the weekend at the General Session, Reid will highlight the Awards Dinner, and Jeff will give a brief update on what is going on at the National level during the Sunday morning meeting. I hope you will take full advantage of all we have scheduled, including the Awards Dinner Saturday night. There are many fun activities here at Horseshoe Bay, so I understand you may need some family time as well or perhaps can stay a little longer to enjoy the resort. Please be mindful of the RSVPs you submitted to USTA Texas as those numbers have been guaranteed for the weekend. Should you have any questions, please feel free to consult the USTA Texas staff at the registration desk. I look forward to our work together this year, and thank you for the time, effort and talents you give to Texas tennis! Emily Schaefer President, 2017-18

Stacey Allaster is the Chief Executive, Professional Tennis, with the United States Tennis Association. In this role, Allaster is tasked with setting the strategic vision for the USTA’s pro tennis division – including oversight of the US Open, US Open Series, Davis Cup, Fed Cup and more – and working closely with the USTA board of directors and the USTA pro tennis staff to ensure the continued viability of professional tennis in the United States. Allaster splits her time between the USTA’s national headquarters in White Plains, N.Y., and the USTA National Campus at Lake Nona in Orlando, Fla. Allaster came to the USTA following a successful nine-year tenure at the WTA, where she served as president (2006-09) and as chairman and CEO (2009-15). Previously, she worked for Tennis Canada in a variety of positions that included tournament director of the Canadian Open in Toronto, now known as the Rogers Cup, and as vice president of sales and marketing.
