Fashion Flair: How Important is Hair?

How important do you consider your hair to your overall identity? For many women, our hair is one of our most important assets and whether we are having a good or bad hair day plays a major part in how good we feel. So when you are thinking about fashion and considering how best to create your own signature look, so not forget that hair plays a big, big part in fashion flair. Whether you are boldly bald or have long, flowing tresses down to your knees or, as is more likely, something in between, do not forget how important a part your hair plays when you want to look good.

Clothes can carry you a long way. They can help you to make a great impression, to look fantastic, to express your character. But to truly show fashion flair, you need to consider your appearance from top to toe, not just the garb you put on but also your skin, your figure and, of course, your hair. Like clothes, your hair, the colour, style and the way you dress it will tell people a lot about who you are and who you want to be.

Consider how much difference a different hairstyle can make to your overall look. Consider, for example, a floaty, floral maxi dress worn with flat summer sandals or bare feet and long, flowing hair with a natural wave, perhaps a few braids. That will create a very bohemian, hippie, free-spirited look. Now imagine that hair done in an elaborate and formal up do with suitable accessories and some high heels and you have something far more suitable for a wedding or other more formal event. Consider again, if a woman is wearing a floaty floral maxi dress but with an angular, short haircut – a heavy bob, perhaps asymmetrical, and chunky boots, perhaps with a denim or leather jacket and suddenly you have something very different again, with a slightly punky, retro 90s vibe. You can see how much difference the hair makes to the feel of the whole look.

Your hair can frame your face. It is really important when considering a colour, cut or style that you consider what suits your hair type, skin colour and face shape. Balance out your features and enhance your skin tone by choosing options that are right for you. Often, a natural look can bring our the very best in your hair and skin. If you have curly hair, let it curl and make the most of that asset. If your hair is poker straight and very fine, embrace that ironing board quality.

Another important factor aside from colour, cut and style is the health of your hair. Make sure that you eat and sleep well – keep your body healthy and your hair will usually be healthy too. It is a good policy to

keep things natural – you need far fewer products for healthy hair than you might imagine. For example, some people with amazing, beautiful hair that is clean, fresh and often complimented do not even use shampoo but use instead simple solutions such as bicarbonate of soda and apple cider vinegar. Less is often more when it comes to hair care.

So, whatever style you have and whatever length, however you care for it, be sure to consider your hair if you want to show true fashion flare.
