Our social calendar is brimming with events and throughout many different venues you will find a celebration of art, theatre, literature, history and film. As well as the traditional routes to culture in our many museums, galleries
and theatres you will find unique offerings such as the community owned Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy and the historic Innerpeffray Library near Crieff. The rich cultural tapestry of the area is bolstered by an active creative community who bring Perthshire to life through their work. Much of this art, sculpture and design can be found for sale in our cultural venues do keep an eye out for it as you explore.
Birnam Arts Centre There’s always something going on at Birnam Arts, which has become renowned as a cultural hub. Offering fantastic events including live music, comedy, theatre and art exhibitions, this popular venue has grown to become one of Scotland’s favourites. Culture PK At the heart of Perth’s cultural community, Culture PK breathes life into Perthshire’s museums, galleries, archives and local history services. Pitlochry Festival Theatre Set into the hills of Highland Perthshire, Pitlochry Festival Theatre holds a unique place in Scottish culture, with a talented cast and crew producing six shows which change daily throughout the summer months. Library of Innerpeffray In a tranquil rural setting by the River Earn, you will discover a museum where you can quite literally connect with Scotland’s past. Innerpeffray Library is Scotland’s oldest free, public lending library and it is steeped in history that goes back to Roman times. This is a must-visit venue and an unforgettable experience of Scottish heritage. Open: From Wednesday to Saturday, 10am - 4.45pm, closing 12.45 - 2pm for lunch. Open on Sundays 2pm - 4pm. The Birks Cinema The Birks is a wonderful communityowned cinema which was lovingly returned to its former glory in 2012. Famed for its art deco architecture, the building is steeped in history and has become a Perthshire icon. Classic films, new releases, interactive exhibitions and live broadcasts are all shown from the 100-seat auditorium.
