MAC'S MARK TWAIN SOCIETY BRINGS CORNHOLE TO THE DOWNTOWN CLUBHOUSE
Sponsored by:
On Saturday, Feb. 20, the Mark Twain Society and MAC Sports Foundation hosted their inaugural Cornhole Tournament to help raise funds to benefit the Sports Foundation. Teams of two competed (with at least one MAC Member per team) against each other, while other attendees were treated to food stations, drinks, cigars and a raffle. They also broadcasted college basketball games on the big screens in the Missouri Room. Games they watched included the University of Kansas versus Texas Tech game and University of Central Florida versus Temple University game. All tournament spots were quickly filled, with many more people wanting to attend, so the event was opened for spectators. At the end of the day, Past President Brent Kaniecki and his tournament partner Al Marshall took home the title of the first MAC Cornhole Tournament winners in history!

AMANDA Williams Visits the Military history club
On Tuesday, April 27, the Military History Club welcomes Amanda Williams, Education Director of the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk, Virginia who will talk with us about the Triumphs and Controversies of General of the Army Douglas MacArthur. In his 52-year military career, MacArthur could often be found at the center of triumph or controversy. Pershing thought MacArthur was his greatest battlefield commander, but that he had a big ego. Roosevelt valued his military mind but also called him the most dangerous man in America. Eisenhower considered him the only true genius he ever met, but also found him too theatrical. Churchill lauded him as one of the bravest allied commanders, and Truman found him enormously frustrating. What do you think of MacArthur? Join us for an examination of his career – and of some of the MacArthur rumors that are accepted as “FACT.” Tuesday, April 27 11:30 a.m. - lunch F 12 p.m. - Program Downtown Clubhouse F Hall of Fame Room In-person: Register online or email kmaurer@mac-stl.org.
