Every great challenge represents an opportunity for renewal and growth. Like many institutions, the MAC has adapted to a changing environment. I am pleased that our Club endures despite the challenges presented by the ongoing pandemic. Our loyal membership and committed staff navigate the changing requirements to ensure a safe and valuable experience at the Club. Through our first month of the fiscal year, we remain on track with our budgeted expectations. The Board and staff will continue to work hard to offer appropriate athletic, social and dining experiences during this time. Another benefit of your MAC membership is the connections you make and the networking opportunities afforded by the Club. The MAC Members represent the movers and shakers of the St. Louis region. Despite the limitations presented by the pandemic, our MAC network allows us to stay in touch, continue to conduct business - whether live or virtual - and make things happen. October was a busy month at the Club. We hosted the Women of Distinction event, honoring seven local women revolutionary in business, civic engagement, philanthropic programs and mentorship. The event was a hybrid with live and virtual attendees. We reached out to several local institutions to allow many young women to experience the inspiration from the MAC Women of Distinction. The Oktoberfest event on the garage rooftop was well attended, and Members rocked out to Past President Lawhorn’s band. The annual Classics and Cocktails event at the West Clubhouse, showcasing several unique automobiles, experienced record attendance. Our Member appreciation events were well received, and the Thursday grill nights at the West Clubhouse were a hit. With our Clubhouses at 50 percent approved capacity, Members comfortably enjoy workouts in the gyms and activities on the courts, as well as fitness classes. We added heaters to the patio to extend the outdoor experience at the West Clubhouse. Now get ready for some terrific fall events! Don your costume for the Adults-Only Halloween Party at the Downtown Clubhouse on Saturday, October 31. The party is co-sponsored by our newest Club Within the Club, the MAC PAC Social Club. The MAC PAC Social Club’s mission is to sponsor social activities and events to promote Member engagement and recruitment. Stay at the Club on Halloween night with $50 hotel rooms for members and guests. Due to popular demand, we continue to offer delicious meals curbside to go Monday through Friday. Our annual Veterans Day celebration is Nov. 5. We will honor our veterans with a great celebration and present awards to several worthy recipients. This is an incredible event and one I assure you will cherish if you attend. Members who are golf fans will come together on Sunday, Nov. 15 at the Downtown Clubhouse to watch the Masters Tournament from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Nov. 18, you can Sip and Shop from an array of vendors at the West Clubhouse from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Jack Buck Awards are slated for Dec. 8 at the Downtown Clubhouse. Capacity will be limited for this signature event, so register early. The Trulaske project is nearing completion. The Downtown Clubhouse with its rich history will be sparkling for the upcoming hallmark events like the Veteran’s Day Commemoration and Thanksgiving. Yes, Thanksgiving. The holiday season commences quickly after Halloween. No Club entertains and offers the variety of events and holiday gathering opportunities like the MAC. Please check social media for upcoming events and registration links. Speaking of Thanksgiving, we are thankful to our Members who donated to our Foundations. This year’s generosity was the most in recent memory. The Board also looks forward to continuing the tradition of serving Thanksgiving lunch to the MAC staff. Our staff experienced an incredibly stressful year, and we cannot thank them enough for their dedication, service and sense of humor through it all. While the circumstances around this holiday season may be different than we are accustomed, our Club will offer some normalcy for us. I wish you all the best as and hope that you continue to enjoy your Club as we begin the holiday season.
