1st Sgt. What makes a man? Power? The ability to control others by force7 Does a man need to show off tofeel superior or make himselffeel better? Is self-respect and integrity still “touchy-feely" or "weak?" 1 have seen many people who had goals and dreams, but when it came down to it, theyjust blew it away or kept delaying it Respect, honor, integrity and pride are what make a man. It separates humans from animals. Bailan of Ibelin said. “What is a man who does not make the world better? My lime here has helped me know myself and harness wbat I need to fulfill my dreams and have a future worth remembering. First ofall, to all you seniors, you have made my senior year the best that it possibly could have been. We have been through some hard times, but somehow we always seem to pull together and come out strong. To thefuture cadets ofMMA, I wish you good luck, and would advise you to enjoy your time here, for this is where you will make lifelongfriends. MMA has taught me many things, like your friends are some ofthe most important people, and they are the ones who will always be therefor you. Also, sometimes the best thing to do is just take the good with the bad and move on, for tomorrow is another wonderful day at MM/1, isn't that right MAJ Treadway? To my teachers, you have taught me many things and have prepared mefor life at college. I will always remember certain peoplefrom MMA who have left an impression on me, like my rooms, Cantu. Fve learned a lot about last-minute preparat ion this year. I work the same way as many other people in the class of2006, leaving everything until there's little more than just enough time to get it done. Fm the Eagle Scout this year, and people know I live by the Boy Scout motto: "Be Prepared. "I am prepared, but it’s always last-minute. Before I came toMMd, 1 seldom got anything done on time. It’s about 9:30 p.m. right now the day before this is due ... I would like to thank the leadership on myfloorfor helping in my accomplishments this year. Ifit wasn'tfor Sgt. Salome and Lt. Ibanez, my platoon leader, always encouraging me to do my best and making sure I was doing everything expected ofme, I know I wouldn’t be doing so well. I reached my highest possible rank ofSGT as early as possible, was recognized for my achievement ofEagle Scout, andfixed the academic problems I had before coming to MM/1. None of that would've happened if it wasn’tfor those two guys always working with me. The rest ofthe cadets here can't go unrecognized. Most everyone has helped me out in some way, so thanks tofaculty, cadets and anyone else Fm leaving out. A lot ofcadets complain about this place, but I've had a good time. I missed my family, but Fve made newfriends, guys who look outfor me and each other, help each other and make sure theirfriends are doing their best. To my class of2006,1 need to write about the picture we took today. The wall fell on Kasey, and there was some confusion, but I saw everyone helping out. Some other guys got hurt, too, but everyone took it like a man. I didn't see , tears or hear loud screaming —just people working together to solve a problem. Everyone was helping out, doing something, trying to help afellow senior. This year at MMA will be impossible toforget, and I know I can'tforget any ofthe other seniors.
