before midnight. I'm not really sure what 1 want to say. I guess to all my fellow seniors — Jundi, DW, Dylan, Luke. Goza, Chubbs, Storic, Won Uk Lee, Lang, Wurl, Pi, Cody, Petty, Judice, Flynn, Scnatore, Blue. Reynolds, Erickson and all the others that my sleep-deprived brain is forgetting, I'll never forget you guys. To you guys I'll sec at Norwich this fall (Cody, Shear), I'll see you guys then. To my fellow Bravo high-schoolers, we survived. It's the end, there ain't no more. Dylan, DW, Jundi, 111 never forget our lunch table conversations. Hardball! Dylan, I will get you back someday, so watch out To the Bravo juniors, DW and Irwin, good luck next year! To the Middle-Schoolers, it seems like this school is horrible, but it really is not. Some of you got that message this year, and some of you didn't. There's nothing more I can do. When you get older, look back and you'll sec that mabye I was annoying, but 1 did know what I was talking about. To all the faculty that have helped me through the years — CSM Williams, Lt. Col. To my parents, thanks for caring enough about my future to send me here To the underclassmen, dont mess up. Whatever it is it isnt worth it. This school can really improve your life. It did for me. My dad gave me a piece of advice my first day here, and it is true, so here it is: Don't do anything stupid. Yeah, I know it sounds lame, but trust me. Screwing up your future and any career you might have down the road is not worth something stupid now.

Over the past five years 1 have learned quite a bit at this school. I think. 1 mean, 1 cant really remember anything that well, perhaps its a memory disorder of some sort but thats not the point. The point is that the faculty of MMA tried to teach me. and often did. some of the most important lessons in life. Sadly, I may have failed to grasp most of the concepts, but its the thought and the time faculty put into teaching me that counts. Like when your grandmother buys you a sock monkey for your birthday. You have no reason to use this sock monkey, because you arc 18 years old, and sock monkeys arc hideous, but you still smile and say thank you, because its the thought that counts. Anyway, to my friends: Travis, you owe me a lot of money, and I hope to raccoon hunt with you in the future. Dylan, "Yay, Iowa!" Reuben, if we had never met, I'm sure our lives would be significantly better. Dani, stop breaking everything. Storic. please, please, sort your life out. Williams, stop freaking out, because no one is around the corner. Clubb, I'm very sorry 1 gave you a concussion, but I'll buy you dinner sometime. Witzcl, I still have your blue shirt. To the underclassmen, if you think 1 was a cool senior who did whatever I wanted all the time, you were correct! Seriously, guys, do not emulate me. I got about 30 percent of the MMA experience. I lived mediocre at the school, and I believe it made my life worse Sure, it was fun, but it cost me. It's not cool to be a senior slack, so stop it — like now.

Staff Sgt. JSuRq St. SCarris St. JSouis, Missouri Well, it's all said and done. Many people ask me. "How was it? Did you enjoy it? Would you do it all over again?" I've got the answers to those questions. It was hell ever since I stepped foot on campus, but I enjoyed every minute of it and 1 would do it all over again in a heartbeat. To my roommates: Stephen Patrick Hashcevc-Salvato, dude, your name is way too long, but I still love ya; Jimmy, you have serious issues, young man ... and the gizzards were still good. The best part about it all is that the friends I have made arc not just from a local town, but instead are from all around the world. I know that it is impossible to keep in touch with all of them, and 1 will probably never see some of the guys again, but I will always remember these times as 1 push forward through life As difficult as this school has been on me, it has definitely been the best thing that has happened to me because of the people. If I can share any advice at all. I would tell the incoming classes that the people they know arc everything, and without them life can be harder than it needs to be. Hold on to the friends that you have, because there will come a day that you will not sec them again. r\lso, as hard as it is for me to say, you should cherish the time that you have here, because it will go fast. Without a doubt, graduation will come faster than you expect it to. I want to say good luck to Eduardo Benites (You arc like a brother to me), and to all of my other friends. I hope life takes you where you want to go. My time is up and I am out of here. Charlie Company is the best!

dKaj. tennis dtewman, &eRo Company Qommander Academics: Academic Qllmax, dlbic Rigan Fourragere, Foreign Language The first words that were said to me at this school were by Col. Kelly. He said that I have three abilities in my power here: to observe, listen and speak. He told me to listen and observe more than to speak and 1 would do well I did what he asked, and look where it got me! The best advice I could give the rest of you is that you have to look deep down inside yourselves and ask yourself what you really want to get from MMA. The Academy has a lot to offer, and you just have to work for it. The structured discipline is what a lot of you need, even though you do not realize or appreciate it right now. I wanted to be the best commander, to prove to myself that I could do it. I will not say I am the best, but 1 think I did a good enough job. Echo, thank you for working and not giving up. I know I pushed you guys to your limits and frustrated all of you with my "evil" plans, but you did it. 1 know that Honor Company does not mean much to some. You do not get any awards individually, but it is a good memory that we worked hard for and should be proud of. As a company, 1 do not think we could have done any better this year in most respects. De Escsartc, remember to keep the pride and push them to the limits Dont let up. Keep your chin held high, no matter what happens. If you start strong, you will do fine for the rest of the year. I know that you will do well as the next Echo Commander. Do not let Kang or Yeakel win. They will be hard competition for you. Seniors, thank you for helping me out. I wish you guys the best in this world. You all helped me get through this.

It is Finally over, and everyone in the senior class has been waiting fora long time. The year itself was really good, even if we all had our doubts at times. this year. To my fellow seniors, good luck in whatever you choose to pursue. To Congress. Sack, Colonel, Furz, Jesus, People and Slave, good luck. To my z\sian friend, k-on. Thank you to every one of the teachers and staff for all your support. All of the cadets could not do it without you.

86,832.000 seconds at this school, and it has felt like an eternity. 1 never thought I'd graduate from here. I always told myself I wasn’t coming back, but I wound up coming back time and time again. As much as 1 hated it sometimes, and swore 1 would never return to this place, I look back on it now and sec that it has done me a lot of good 1 want to thank all the faculty’ and staff who saw me through my stubbornness and continued to work with me. Coach Maher, you’ve been the best coach I could ask for, a true friend and a great person The kids here aren't to be considered as classmates or roommates or even friends. Wc live with each other 24 hours a day and seven days a week for nine months a year. Hate it or love it, we're brothers. Bobby Kelley. I know you graduated last year, but I want to thank you for always being there with me and helping me through it. To all my other friends who graduated — Jack. Jake, Garrett, Caperton, Alex, Krause — thanks for everything. Schwank and Kantorski, the kanbdertank combo, wc had some good times and some bad ones, but were still brothers in the end. Thanks for everything. I’m going to miss my other brothers. Huffer Puffer, Henderson. Drcwby. Judice, Devin, the Aguilera brothers, Lowery, Drummond, Rillo, Cody, and y mis Mcxtcano amigos, the Benites brothers, Cepeda, z\ldo, Labastida, Chcndo, Arreola, Tio and many others If 1 missed anyone, Im sorry. Life is a journey over steep hills and wide valleys. I have had quite a hike to get to this point. From the pulpit I now stand upon, I can look back and clearly see everything great in my life. As 1 look forward, I focus on new achievements and accomplishments that lay waiting. My future will be even longer and more exciting, full of new faces and people I will love and care for as well as those already in my life. All I need now is to take a step There have been so many in my life who have made a profound impact on who 1 am. I wish to mention all, but the list is like a book. First, 1 would like to thank all my friends. Juan Pablo, you have been with me all three years and have introduced me to a Mexico that at first 1 misunderstood. Kim. we a fun time at the Academy, we ran Echo 2nd like a clock. Salva, 1 will never stop laughing when I think of you. Goza, 1 do not know where you came from, but I know where you arc going. I will always remember my other leaders and friends. Esqucr, Wang, Walters, Armcr, Yeakel, Hashccvc, Navarette, Herrera, Ma. Stock and Pcrkinson. There are so many faculty members who have made me better and taught me so much. Capt. Griffin, you have been a wonderful teacher, coach and mentor. Coach Maher, you always brighten my day. Maj. Reynard, you were an excellent teacher and I wont ever forget the three years 1 was in your class Physics was my most difficult class, Capt Khanal, but I learned a lot. Lt. Col. Matlosz, you were the best history teacher and advisor. Lt. Col. Ableman, you were the best teacher I have ever had, and will never forget what 1 gained from Calculus. Finally, I want to thank Lt. Col Giuscffi for all the encouragement and opportunities you gave me. Thank you all, and God bless!

2009 Senior Chronicle How the MMA Class of2009 was formed By Stephen Hasheeve-Salvato At the beginning of my career at Missouri Military Academy, I thought that it would be a fun experience, but that was back when I was young and thought military school was "cool.” During recent years I have found that it is not fun at all, but hard work. Anyway, in 2003-04, Dani Erickson entered my life at MMA. Dani and I became really close friends until the next year, when we added a few new people to the crew, including Alex Flynn, Kyu Won Lee and little Dennis Newman. Besides a few fights, there was plenty of friendship and friendly competition between us all. It was the last time we were in the Middle School barracks. Those years were pretty uneventful. There were a few additions our freshmen year, and they were Chris Storie, Won Uk Lee, Reuben Senatore (my first roommate, freshman year), Glenn Petty, Dylan Waschkowski and Aldo Sanchez. That was the year that we learned how to bond from daily direction to keep us in line and the endless drills that were meant for us to learn to work together. 2006-2007 was by far the biggest addition to the class of 2009. It consisted of Jose Benites, Drew Benoit, Bobby Blue, Anthony Wurl, Luke Harris, Jung Hun Han, Lukas Goza, Thomas Clubb, Devin Lang, Jun Yong Lee, Hyung Woo Kim, Ki Min Kang, Travis Mattoon, Jung Soo Woo, Derek Wilson and Jorge Salva. Those guys would become my family away from home, and would sit and talk if anyone needed to. Most of the classs cadet leaders came here that year. Then came my junior year and designations. First, the new cadets of the class of 2009 were Chris Henderson, Will Judice, Cody McCutcheon, Mitchell Thomas, Pete Walters, Jack Tsai and Yang Wang. After that, there were only a few new additions to the class of 2009. Junior year was a tough one for corps discipline, and some of the problems did not return. During designations there was some crying, especially from my platoon sergeant, until he realized that his job was really simple. The last six seniors of 2009 arrived this school year, and I am proud to add them to the brotherhood of MMA. They are Mauricio Alvarez, Froylan Arellano, John Huang, Cesar Rivas, Richard Shear - and last, but not worst, Kyle Witzel. Those six completed an MMA family that I will never forget. Well, guys, this is it. We are the graduating class of 2009. No one can argue that coming to MMA has not changed us. For as long as eight years, for some of us, we have eaten, slept, drilled, complained, fought and lived next to each other. We have met some extraordinary people and made some life-long friendships. Now we realize that on May 23, some of us will walk out of each others lives forever. While it might be a scary thought, we must focus on the future. Whether we realize it or not, MMA has had a profound impact on each of our lives. We can look back and know that we are forever linked by this brotherhood called Missouri Military Academy. We will leave as the class of 2009. Remember, no one can take what we have learned away from us. Let us always know we can fall back on our brothers for support. Congrats to the Class of 2009. Let's all try to stay in touch. 43

Lt. Col. E.R. Jackson dies Longtime staffer celebrated 100th birthday in 2008
From The Mexico Ledger On Feb. 26, 2009, Lt. Col. Elmer Rudolph Jackson completed the last chapter of his 100-year journey. He passed peacefully at his daughter's home in Encinitas, Calif., where he had lived for the past year. His journey began Nov. 11.1908, as the younger child of Dr. Charles M. and Alice Hope Jackson of Nevada , Mo. He lived in Nevada through high school and later moved to Fayette , Mo., where he graduated from Central Methodist College. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha fraternity and received his Bachelor of Music degree in 1931. Seeking a teaching position, Jackson set out to meet Col. E.Y. Burton at Missouri Military Academy. The only job available was laying brick for a new gymnasium, so he agreed to it that summer. However, his career as bricklayer was short-lived, and he eventually fulfilled jobs of teacher, coach and even tactical officer during World War II. As the MMA Director of Music, he enjoyed performing and teaching every phase of instrumental music. Nineteen years later, Col. Jackson became the Director of Admissions and served until his retirement in 1974. During the early years he lived at the Academy with his wife, Hazel Ann McIntyre, a school teacher in town. They married in 1935, and Mrs. Jackson later taught English at the Academy as well. Their two daughters, Elizabeth Hope and Jane Lavender, also lived on campus before moving to the Jackson home. Barely outside the campus boundaries, the family would awaken to "Reveille" every morning! Memories of the Academy brought Col. Jackson great pleasure, especially the year 1946. On May 5, for the official arrival of Sir Winston Churchill and President Harry Truman, they paraded through the streets of Fulton on Churchill's way to deliver the famous Iron Curtain address at Westminster College. Another memorable event in August was his leading the MMA Jazz Band when it won the honor to play at Carnegie Hall on stage with the great Nat King Cole. His tenure with the Academy provided him the opportunity to meet, educate and touch thousands of lives. Even at the age of 100, he referred to the cadets as his boys. Affiliations included Lockewood Park Baptist Church , the Mexico Rotary Club and several Barbershop Quartets. His wife, Hazel, and his daughter, Jane Lavender Cox, predeceased him. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Tom Pusheck, his six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Missouri Military Academy on Saturday, March 28. The family suggests donations can be made to the Lt. Col. E.R. Jackson Memorial Fund at Missouri J70 Military Academy.
