OR NOT Planning and organising your wedding should be fun and incredibly exciting, but it can also be a little overwhelming. From the minute your engagement is announced and the celebrations of the sparkly new ring commence, along with that a bombardment of questions and expectations also arrive, most commonly thrown by family members and close friends. That is when the panic hits in, and what is meant to be the most pleasant journey in life turns into the biggest nightmare............ Usually that is when the couple decide to turn to a wedding planner and that is where I step in. Once the couple agree to hire a planner and the first meeting is set up, the smiles and excitement are back. The couple realise that they can now sit back, relax and leave the rest to the organiser. As a planner, my aim is to offer my clients a wedding their guests will keep mentioning for many years to come. Nowadays this is no easy task with such a large variety of choices on the market.

One must really shop around and keep up to date with all the latest trends and fashions, also keeping originality in mind. As long as the planner is organised, artistic and with lots of innovative ideas, no mountain is difficult enough to climb and nothing is an issue. Having everything perfect and top notch for this once in a lifetime occasion is vital ...Only the best will do

A Few Tips from my Diary: Flowers & Accessories: Simply add glamour to your Vintage theme, ask your florist to wire pearls into your bouquet, pin an old brooch to the ribbon or look for nice thick lace to wrap round the flower stem. If you are thinking of the wedding myth for wearing pearls on your wedding day to some this represents future tears and are a bad sign, however to others the wearing of pearls takes the place of the bride’s real tears, thus she will have a happy, tearfree wedded life.

Colours & Themes: Adding colour to your theme gives a bright vibrant look, purple, red, gold and pink are very popular this year, from the bride’s and bridesmaids’ bouquets to the groom’s button holes, drapes and cake. Also for the glamorous bride to have her shoes in a colour rather than white would create originality.

Rice & Confetti:

Replace throwing confetti or rice to fresh coloured rose petals to compliment your colour scheme, this gives a prettier colourful look and also avoids guests’ hair and crevices getting full of rice and confetti.

Decorations: Silver or gold hearts hanging on the backs of chairs or around the venue look gorgeous, as do lanterns dotted around pathways, steps, entrances and hallways, or simply on the bar. My suggestion to a couple who have decided to get married is, get on that joy ride, enjoy the trip and leave the rest to a wedding planner and surely there will be no regrets.

WEDDING EVENT PLANNERS

Q&A Q: Why Should I hire a Wedding Planner? A: Let's be honest planning a wedding today could be a nightmare, nowadays we all live hectic and stressful lives, not many people can dedicate the time and effort required to organise a wedding to meet today's high standards. Your wedding day is one of the most memorable days of your life, why go through all the pain and risk when you can hire a professional with the knowledge and experience rather then learn as you go along, this could be very frustrating and time consuming. Q: Won’t A Wedding Planner want to take control and run the whole wedding? A: A wedding planner works very closely with her clients. She or he is an adviser and friend to the bride and groom. The relationship becomes one of trust and surety. Nothing is decided without consultation with the couple. The Wedding Planner is sensitive enough to know when to take a back seat and let the bride and groom shine. Q: My Mom and a Friend are going to help me plan the wedding. Why do I need a Professional? A: I'm quite sure that your mom and your friend can do an excellent job, but like everything else the professional touch always makes the difference. Professional services ensure that you get the best deal around with the best service quality and value for money. A professional wedding planner will make sure that everything is perfect; church, flowers, venue, caterers, cars, down to the colour and type of garden furniture.

Q: What if I have already done most of the planning? Can you still help me? Do price vary? A: Definitely, I can step in at anytime to provide assistance, suggest contacts and ideas, obviously in this case a nominal fee will be charged as pre-arranged with the client. Q: How do you charge for your services? A: Services are charged on a percentage of total spent where my services are utilised, in this fashion, a couple who is on a budget wedding pays far less then a couple with a limitless budget. Q: How much does an average wedding cost? A: This is a hard question to answer as budgets vary, however I always rest my clients' minds assure that no matter how small or big their budget is, they will always manage to have the magical fairytale wedding they always dreamt of.

Q&A

How to choose a

Wedding Dress

Q: When do I have to order the Dress? A: Approximetely a year before is fine. Please do remember that if the dress in stock is not your size or colour, it will have to be ordered from overseas and as the dress needs to be made it takes at least 6 months to be in Malta. Q: What are the Latest Trends? A: Bridal is timeless and most styles are classical and do not date. There are always trends that appear every now and again, but most will stay on for quite a few seasons. Top trend at the moment....LACE! Q: What is the estimated time of Delivery from the order? A: It would take 6 to 8 months from date of order for any gown to arrive. Rush deliveries are possible depending on brand but this always comes at a considerable cost! Q: What style is best. For Petite Bride? And for Tall Brides? A: Petite never choose a dress that is too puffy or with a lot of volume. Keep it simple and stream lined. Tall girls on the other hand look great in big ball skirts. Q: How to Buy a Dress on a Diet? A: I always recommend you order one size smaller. If you loose more weight the dress will be altered to your new slim silhouette! Q: What is the Average Price of a Wedding Dress? A: Euro 500 to 1,500 including VAT

Hats &

Fascinators for a

Morning

Wedding byCaroline Paris

In general, there are a lot of thoughts on either side of the fence with this topic. Some people believe not wearing anything to be akin to a mortal sin whilst others claim the look is outdated and 'there's no need to wear one'. I'm one of those people who doesn't believe too strongly in rules. Whilst I think a hat/fascinator completes an outfit in a good way, neither do I think it wrong for someone to skip this if they truly don't enjoy wearing one. After all, an uncomfortable guest is an unhappy guest and what bride and groom want an unhappy guest at their wedding? For those of you who do like to wear one..here's an outfit idea on how to incorporate a fascinator:

I've blended in a few colours to keep the outfit interesting and not at all dated. The only patterns are the ones on the dress and the earrings so that avoids too much busyness which is something a lot of people feel uncomfortable with. The mix of pinks together with the emerald green look really nice together. The earrings which happen to have both shades, tie everything together neatly. This outfit will look best on an apple shape or a very thin body, a thin pear shape will also get away with it, basically the main thing is that the dress does not cling to the hips at all, it must be loose around the legs for this dress to work. It will also look best on someone tall or someone wearing very high heels !! Hope this was useful !!! Caro xxx

THE DOS 1) Do rent from a store that carries a large in-house inventory. Make sure that the store itself carries a wide selection of tuxes. In the unlikely event that something happens to the suit you ordered, you need to have backup at your fingertips. 2) Do visit your store three to five months prior to your wedding. For the most efficient use of your time, schedule an appointment with a store consultant, who can take your measurements and help you choose a style.

OF RENTING A

TUXEDO

Believe it or not, choosing a tux can be nearly as challenging as choosing a gown. There are so many choices out there, and a tux includes multiple pieces – a jacket, vest, shirt, neckwear, and shoes. Since each piece comes in a variety of styles, the variations are practically endless. Do yourself a favor and start shopping early using these helpful tips.

3) Do like your bride and do some research to find a style you like. Bring in a picture so your consultant gets a feel for the look you’re going for. If flipping through your girl’s bridal mags isn’t your thing (and it probably isn’t), surf the web instead. Research a number of stores and browse through their collections, or even customize your own outfit. Print out your dream tux and see if your store can replicate it. 4) Do ask your consultant for recommendations that will complement your body type. There are a variety of cuts for jackets, lapels, shirts, and ties, and the lay tux renter usually does not have the eye or skill to know what looks best on his physique. A professional will have a better sense of which jacket will have the most slimming effect, or which tie best accompanies your shirt style. 5) Do budget accordingly, don’t forget to factor in any additional accessories, such as cufflinks. 6) Do schedule a final fitting one week before the wedding. If you’ve been pumping iron or hitting the treadmill, you might need some last-minute alterations.

THE DON’T 1) Don’t wait until the last minute to rent your tux. The very minimum most stores will allow you to rent is two weeks in advance. You should also order early so any mishaps or changes can be made in time. 2) Don’t let your groomsmen send you selfmeasurements. Your tux shop needs to have accurate measurements to ensure a good fit. 4) Don’t assume that all your groomsmen will be responsible enough to remember all dates and details about rentals. Keep them updated with emails and calls to ensure that they meet all the necessary deadlines. 5) Don’t forget to return your tux the next day. After the reception comes to an end, your mind will be on your honey and your honeymoon, so arrange for your best man to return your tux for you.

ALAN J.DARMANIN Photography is a vast form of artistry with which one can express himself and his creativity through a lens whilst capturing innovative images and creating diverse pictures. Being fashion photography, weddings photography or landscape photography, the photographer should be able to create an image that shall capture interest from viewers giving it a personal touch that makes it stand out from the crowd.

Photographer’s point of view Finding the right point of view in an image is often the key to creating fresh pictures. No photography gear helps in getting a great image rather than a good point of view of the photographer himself. Putting the camera in some unique locations and angles helps in creating new original photos. A number of locations have a place where one can get up on, like a balcony, stairway, ladder and more. For example, in wedding’s photography, high spot locations capture interesting views during the ceremony. During such events, the use of a tripod might be helpful as well.

Posing Posing is the main element in having a good photographic result. It’s useless having the best photographer or the sharpest images, without having good poses in the photos. One should recognize his/her best angles and work on them. Awkward angles and poses result in awkward images. The photographer should be able to guide the person in front of the camera lens whilst giving useful tips. Poses vary in regards of what the occasion/photo is. Models who are modelling various garments should be able to give several types of fashion poses, whilst during events such as weddings, poses should be more subtle and elegant but with a touch of creativity. The bride and groom should be the focal point and one should keep in mind that these are not professional models so one should help them and guide them more throughout the whole process, both during the pre-wedding and the wedding day itself. Photography is such a vast topic that spreads in so many roots that it’s difficult to pinpoint all important aspects of it. The above are just few basic tips that one should consider before indulging him/her self in the never ending world of photography!

HAIR TIPS Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life so that idea for your wedding hairstyle can only be beneficial. Your hair is very important because you need to look beautiful in this memorable day of your life. Getting married is one of the most joyous experiences in life couples, but the stress and pressure felt by both spouses are high, making decisions difficult.Your hairstyle is a very important detail. It is always better to decide on the hair style for the wedding while keeping your wedding dress, the shape of your face and your hair texture in mind. It also has to match your wedding veil or head piece you intend to wear on the wedding day. There are wedding hairstyles that cater to those with short hair, medium hair and long hair. However, if you have short hair, and want to make something special of your hair style, you could try out one of the many available wedding hair styles with extensions. These hair extensions basically add length and volume to your hair, without you having to wait for long hair. Clip on hair extensions are great for making temporary changes in your hair style and prove to be a test drive for real hair extensions. You can also look through style books for ideas of the best wedding hairstyles with extensions which looks best for your wedding day. Just remember to approach a qualified hair stylist for your hair extensions so that you look the best on your special day. There are so many styles to choose from, but that does not mean that you will all look great. People have different face shapes and different preferences, thus it is important to choose wisely, because the hair can turn out to be a disaster and it’s something that you should be avoided, especially on your wedding day. The meaning of the whole set of clothes, shoes, makeup and hair will help you in your appearance and if they are all for you, the result is spectacular and you will radiate beauty.

To help you make a decision when it comes to your wedding hairstyle, talk to a professional hairdresser and explain your ideas and wishes in a clear way, it’s very important to be sure what you want and what you like.

LOOKING GORGEOUS ON YOUR

WEDDING DAY Weddings are a joyous but also very stressful occasion. We know how important it is to you that every detail be perfect. There are few other occasions that will result in as much photographic evidence of exactly how you looked. So you know when is the best time to prepare your skin for the big day.

The Key is To Look Like Yourself, Only Better To get the best results, you should start preparing your nails, hair and skin, six months before your wedding. It sounds extreme, but it can make a big difference! A basic home routine should consist of cleansing, toning and moisturizing, twice a day morning and night. To make sure your skin looks its best, exfoliate your face and neck once or twice a week a couple months before the wedding.

Monthly Facials Treatment wise I’d recommend brides have a professional facial every month, the facial therapist will be able to recommend suitable aftercare that compliments your professional facials to ensure your skin is perfect for your wedding day!

What if you get a spot a day before the wedding? There is no easy answer. Tea tree oil can help if applied to the blemish as IT can dry the blemish out. Whatever happens, brides should never pick a spot on the big day…that’s a disaster waiting to happen! Picking spots is generally not recommended as it can cause scaring.

Here are few make up tips that you should consider for your big day 1. If you're going to get a fake tan before the big day, spray-tan at least two days prior to your wedding "It'll darken on the second day, and by the third day, it'll have settled and be perfect." 2. Especially for brides getting married in warmer climates, consider using as many oil-free products as possible 3. Put on a little more makeup than you would apply normally, more than you think you need, since the camera and lights will tone down your makeup." 4. I recommend using false eyelashes for all brides .They make your eyes look big and captivating 5. Put lip balm regularly on your lips from at least six months before your wedding day so that your lips won’t get dry and flakey. 6. Carry at least your lip color, as that's what'll wear out the fastest and need to be touched up the most. If you use good quality face and eye primers, everything else should stay in place. 7. Make sure that whoever is going to apply your make up on the day will apply fixer spray so that the make up will stay throughout the wedding. Remember that on the day you should look like you, only enhanced. So if you wear little makeup in your regular life, your wedding day is not the day to try out Smokey Eyes

A Heaven Match Made in

Matt “Hush” at www.thisishush.com and www.weddingphotosmalta.com is noted for his natural, relaxed and fun approach to wedding photography creating stunning images that stand the test of time. As our resident expert on all matters relating to wedding photography, he takes some time to share with couples some top tips for consideration when making the important choice of selecting the professional who will be responsible for visually documenting your special day. Increasingly photography is becoming higher up on the “to do list” for couples planning their weddings and just like your choice of bridal dress, outfitting, reception venue and entertainment, there is a vast

choice of styles and approaches and the decision making process can be a bit of minefield to navigate. The starting point for me when meeting with couples is to ensure that they are comfortable with my style and have had a chance to look at a range of work from others. It is important that expectations are met and like every aspect of your wedding day it is important that you invest in what is best for you. At This Is Hush, the team work full time as social photographers and wedding photography is the most important aspect of our work. We love what we do and this reflected in our passion and energy. When it comes to photographing life’s most important events, such as weddings,

Beyond the memories of your mind’s eye, there is little that remains and photography at its best is a unique and exceptional creative medium

my ethos is simple. Once the wedding dress is cleaned and packed carefully away, once the music has stopped and the final piece of cake has been eaten, beyond the memories of your mind’s eye, there is little that remains and photography at its best is a unique and exceptional creative medium for conjuring emotion and without wishing to sound over dramatic, memories until the end of time. Wedding photography beholds a huge responsibility, but a responsibility that has to be executed in a stress free, spontaneous and fun way. This is where we excel and couples planning their weddings should consider these aspects in the early discussions with potential photographers.

Now for some quick tips to keep in mind when your making your choice for photographer:

Make a Match When choosing a wedding photographer, you should consider each professional's style. Wedding photographers specialize in all different kinds of styles, so it's best to ask plenty of questions regarding their specialties. For instance, some photographers work best with environmental staged/posed shots while others are great at capturing action and movement in a reportage style. Before you call around or email to schedule a consultation meeting, determine what details are most important to you for what you would like your photog-

rapher to be able to do. The second aspect to “making the match” has to be based on feeling. You need to feel comfortable with your photographer as ultimately the more comfortable you and your partner feel, the better your photo collection will look. As I always say, the experience of the photo shoot and the enjoyment through participation, for me, is every bit important as the final collection of images.

Check with friends and family A great way to find quality is to ask around for referrals. Contact friends and family to see who they’ve used for their wedding, and look at online portfolios or through their photo albums / photo books to get a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of the photographers they hired. If you’re having trouble finding someone through word of mouth, use the Internet as a go-to source for discovering wedding photographers that are worth talking to. If you like what you see, don’t hesitate to call and schedule a time to meet with the wedding photographer you desire – if they’re serious about what they do they will be all to happy to meet and discuss your thoughts and ideas without obligation.

Review Their Work All photographers should have a portfolio of their work and most should be able to direct you to a professional website and/or social media page. It's important to look at an entire body of work, as well as snapshots and single pictures to ensure the photographer's consistency. Some things to look for when reviewing a

wedding photographer's portfolio are: • Do they use good lighting? • Do they capture a variety of poses in each shot (sitting, standing, walking, etc.) ? • Are photos of professional grade/quality? • Does each album convey a different theme and mood, or do they all look the same?

The Right Equipment Brush up on your photography lingo to find out the type of equipment photographers use. Photography is as much an art form as a technical skill and its not so much about how much equipment a photographer has, afterall anyone with a budget can buy some kit, but what they do with what they have! Check out how your potential photographer uses their equipment to get the best shots.

Price Points The price of experienced, professional wedding photographers can in the first instance appear expensive, but check these out with friends and family for the going rates. Some cheaper options, may have hidden costs that you will only realize following your special day, so don’t be shy to ask plenty of questions in advance. Generally, there are many aspects to consider against the price, for example, some photographers do not supply all the images digitally and require you to print exclusively with them and will charge a premium to do so. Others will supply you everything, but will not offer a selection or editing service within the original quote and so on. Some will accept your booking and

send an inferior “photographer” to cover your day, or, for another example, will keep you waiting 3 months, 6 months, a year or more before you receive your images - the list goes on! You should always refer to Point 1 and use your instincts to make a good match with the person you’re entrusting to evidence and record the emotion and events of your wedding day. As you can see, there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a wedding photographer and by no means do these points cover everything. However, following these steps will help keep you on track while searching for your perfect match. In summary, from your wedding photography, you should expect to receive a collection of beautiful, memory filled images that will stand the test of time, the miles between the oceans and even the advancement of new technologies your images should inspire the family line now and way into the future.

As wedding season is in full gear, we give it up for the hardest working people in the industry: the singers & musicians who can turn the big day into a party atmosphere. Some of the most popular and prolific event players offer advice on everything from the importance of hiring the right band to making sure Grandma has a good time too. Mister & Missus Magazine speaks to Heathcliffe Balzan, a well known musician / pianist with over 20 years experience in the wedding industry & the mind behind popular cover band Eleanor Cassar & ZoNe 5. The following are his views.

Choosing the wedding band! Choosing the wedding band should be listed high in the couple's priority list, ensuring a reasonable budget to engage the band they really want entertaining the guests on their big day, and not just the other band they can simply afford for what budget is left. The era of budget bands is over, ensuring a professional & reliable band is key for a successful wedding. All aspects which makes a wedding complete are important, but music should be listed with the top two priorities to book first. It's not rare to hear guests chatting during a wedding saying that music and catering are the most two key factors for a successful wedding, and that is so right! Photography, dvd captur-

ing and so on, are also very important, but these relate to the couple per se. Good music & food is what relates to everybody. The right band comes in different setups according to the couples taste, so choosing the band according to the couple's personality is very important. During my career in this industry I met countless numbers of couples, helping them decide and discuss their specific requirements in detail. Whether it’s just background music they are after, or a build up from all time classics, ballads, to a high energy atmosphere, even for those Jazz Lovers. Any genre can create the right atmosphere, as long as it fits the couple's personality. An experienced band like ours can provide a mix of various genres to suit everybody's taste.

Can't stress enough the importance to discuss details with a professional musician in this business sector, see what is eing offered, make it clear whether your wedding is going to be held in an inside or outside venue, as this might effect the P.A system requirements. If so, be informed whether the person can provide additional P.A system himself or if it needs to be hired from somewhere else. Musician / singer replacements in case of sickness are also points to be discussed. Be well aware of the venue time restrictions, they can vary from one venue to another. Most of all make sure that the person responsible with whom you are dealing with is also present on your special occasion. Getting into technical detail of the band and their instruments is also essential. Some bands are simply judged as being pricey, causing the couples to lose inter-

est instantly. Many times, if not always, the simple reason would be, cause they think they are being overcharged, and not cause they cant afford engaging the band they want. Professional instruments costs huge amounts of money, and investing in high end equipment can result in a little higher price, not to mention as being professional means working continuously hard everyday, rehearsing the band & constantly updating the repertoire. Only this way perfection can be achieved.

Songs to get 'em dancing Heathcliffe Balzan from Eleanor Cassar & ZoNe 5 cover band shares some tunes that are guaranteed to get people moving. “ZoNe 5's playlist is made up of backto-back floor fillers”, he says. “We have been doing this for so long we have definitely figured out what works - you can never beat an 80's selection. Donna Summer, always gets a big reaction, when we start it. Domino by Jessie J, those first few chords are like a siren song – That's what I can say.”

In my case, I treat my clients very personal. I'm the direct person meeting the couples before the wedding, and being also the pianist of the band ZoNe 5 will continue to assist the couples even during the reception with requests which may arise.

Song delivery is very important, you don't just play a list of songs one after the other. You have to gather feedback from the guests just by looking to what they are reacting to. That's where a vast repertoire comes in handy.

Having also played in almost every wedding venue around the Maltese islands, and getting familiar with the staff, helps ensure peace of mind to the couples, as we know beforehand the right spots were to setup, aware of the venue's time restrictions and more. It's a known fact how early couples start to plan their wedding, and rightly so, every couple wants to have the perfect wedding. Having the perfect wedding doesn't mean spending endless amounts of money, but planning together with professional people and spending wisely.

The power of the music commands the audience to dance. We appeal to the guilty pleasure part of the brain. On the Floor by J LO seizes control of their subconscious and it's game on. They are literally ON THE FLOOR. Q:To conclude, what's the best piece of advice you can give your clients about music? A: To find a band that suits their personalities. Most of the people I work with want to create a fun party - they want to have a live performance people love. Having a band makes the energy level just skyrocket. It gives the wedding that show element.

So here we are meeting a Perfect Family Relationship. We are here to meet with Mr. and Mrs Buhagiar. 10 Years from their marriage and their Love is getting stronger and stronger. We are here to discuss and know more about their meeting, their wedding day and most of the entire ‘SECRET’ recipe how to keep their relationship strong. While we were talking to the husband Ronald Buhagiar, one could notice the Love and Respect he has for his wife Christine Buhagiar. Going back in their memories they met each other at Armier Bay. They were close friends, which friendship turned into a relationship. After some time in this relationship they decided together to get married as it was evident they wanted to spend the rest of their life together. They wanted to build up a family and spend their moments together. After much planning and preparation for their wedding, the big day arrived. On 6th April 2002 both Ronald and Christine declared their love and marked the date in their timeline. This date is one of the most memorable dates for the two of them.

e v g n i o t t r e L & Gonge r t S

Talking about the day, both of them where excited to let us imagine and experience it Ronald said, “The wedding day was so exciting and beautiful” , while going through the photos of their wedding day. On the other hand Christine told us that she was really satisfied watching their guests having fun during their wedding. “Watching our guests having fun - gave us more energy to enjoy and have fun during our Wedding”. The wedding went on to the early hours of morning, as all the guest, family and the couple themselves enjoyed dancing with the music throughout the wedding. Talking about what kept them so close and their love always getting stronger, their response was common one: They both keep their relationship before everything, and when we asked them for a tip to all those people getting married they told us that it is important that every small problem you have in your relationship must be tackled and solved together, and not leaving it as if nothing happened as this will get back on your doorstep sometime after. It was our pleasure meeting Mr. & Mrs. Buhagiar and we could feel the nice loving vibe between them. Being their 10th year Anniversary, we wish them more happy years of love.

INTERVIEW

8th ANNIVERSARY FACE OF MALTA By Glow Promotions

This year marked the eight anniversary of the Face of Malta event which is yearly organised by Glow Promotions under the management of Alan J Darmanin and Jeff Francalanza. It is a beauty pageant with a difference where main points are given on photos of each contestant and on the face rather than on the physique or modelling techniques. During the final night, twelve finalists are chosen for a themed calendar. This year, the event was held on 14th June at The Grand Master's Suite, Hilton Malta and forty female participants took part. It was later on broadcast on a local television channel. Sophie Bonello DuPuis came in third place (second runner-up). This was Sophie's first time ever participating in a modelling event and hopefully this experience will drive her into a future modelling career.

How would you describe yourself? At first quite a shy person, but once you get to know me I’m sure you'll see that a very outgoing girl who likes to have a good time with her friends. And if you had to describe yourself in one word what would it be? Perfectionist - when it comes to any part of life I make it a fact that what I do is the best that I can do! I like to be organized and driven to achieve anything in my way. What would be your normal day? In Summer a typical day would be spent at the beach! I love sunbathing and when I start swimming I find it really hard to get out of the water. On the other hand, in Winter I pretty much spend my day at university or at home studying, and then in the evening I meet up with some friends and go out. What’s the thing you love doing most? I love baking! When I have some spare time I love baking cakes and cupcakes for my family and friends. It is something that I would eventually like to start a small business in as its something that I enjoy doing. What’s the thing you hate doing most? I think that the thing I hate the most would have to be working! I wish I could just relax all day long without breaking a sweat Favourite Food: Cheese burger with chips Hobbies: Baking, reading, exercising Favourite all time movie: The Notebook Favourite country you visited: Mauritius Something you cannot live without: My phone!

Sophie Bonello Dupuis

Age: 20 Star Sign: Sagittarius Occupation: Full time psychology student Siblings: I am the eldest of three. My sister is 18 years old and my brother is 9.

What inspires you the most in the world of modelling? Since I was a little girl I have always enjoyed watching international modelling programs which have probably been the most inspiring to me. Why did you apply for Face of Malta 2013? Initally Alan had approached me himself regarding the competition as I didnt really know anything about it. At first I was a bit skeptical as to whether I should take part or not because I knew that I would compete against other girls who have been participating in such events for a long time. So being my first time, I didnt think I would have a chance to even win anything! But I proved myself wrong as I was more than happy to place third! How do you describe this experience? Overall it was a great experience! I had never taken part in such an event ever before, and being my first time I would love to do it again! I got to meet a lot of different people on the way and make new friends with some great girls. From the photo shoots to the catwalk on stage, together with the rehearsals, it was an experience that I'll never forget! What’s the most memorable moment throughout this event? I think that moment when I was crowned as the second runner up was the most serial part! It was a complete shock for me as I had no expectation of placing in the top three. So I personally think that that has to be the most memorable part! Did you find support throughout your three months of preparations? Both Alan and Jeff were very helpful throughout the whole experience! Whenever I had any difficulties I was always able to call them or send them a message regarding anything possible. Even taking into consideration that we were 40 girls, it was a huge responsibility but nonetheless they managed to help all of us individually and got back to us straight away! Would you like to continue pursuing modelling? This competition has given me the courage and determination to want to further pursue modelling, maybe not in competitions, but more photo shoots and maybe runway. Where do you see yourself in ten years time? Hopefully in ten years I would have graduated from my Masters in Psychology and working on my career. however I would also like to continue modelling and hopefully build up a career and be known on the island.
