S3 Curriculum  Students will continue to study a broad general

education, ensuring they still has a breadth and balance to their timetable  Mathematics and English remain compulsory along with

Physical Education, Religious and Moral Education and Personal and Social Education as part of our core programme.  Personalisation and Choice – drives engagement and allows

S3 Curriculum (2) – Choice  Two discrete Science subjects (unless they are recommended for Environmental

Science)  Two discrete Social Studies subjects (unless they are recommended for People and

Society)  One Expressive Art subject – Art, Dance, Drama, Music  One Technologies subject – Computing Science, Fashions and Textiles, Music

with Technology, Home Economics, Design and Technology and Construction  Two additional subjects (from the above curricular areas in bold or from Health and

Wellbeing and/or Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies and/or Modern Languages) Dream, Believe and Achieve @ Lasswade High School


S3 Curriculum (3) – Choice  One reserve (from the above curricular areas in bold or

from Health and Wellbeing and/or Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies and/or Modern Languages) should students be unsuccessful in securing all of their 1st choices  Any alternative courses offered will be by staff

recommendation and consultation with students/parents

In a Nutshell Almost all students transition in to S4 and study:  7 National Qualifications (National 3-5)  Maths and English compulsory (National 3-5)  Core programme – PSE/PE/RME

Some students will access additional opportunities:  Work Experience  School – College Partnership Courses  Alternative courses delivered by partner organisations
