MITH

Letter from the

Editor

MITH has been living up to its name of Modest Is The Hottest, by publishing clean, classy and chic fashion and entertainment stories from issues 1 and 2! We are excited to bring you our third issue now, filled with beautiful editorials and thought-provoking articles from the hearts of fashion and entertainment leaders. MITH is mainly for the mid-teens to mid-thirties young woman, but we’ve also gained many pre-teen fans who are looking for inspiring role models who can teach them how to be a lady. We created MITH to be a revolutionary uprising of influencers, pioneers, innovators and philanthropists in our community that can shape our culture for good! With MITH, there is no requirement to push the envelope with promiscuity or substances to show your worth or identity in our industry. In this way, we’re “going rogue” in fashion and entertainment. We’ve created quite a buzz at Fashion Week AW16, as we covered fashion shows in NYC, London, Milan and Paris, with press mentions and interviews by multiple media outlets as well as reposts on social media from many designers and models! Please don’t forget, that in all this mayhem and excitement, my co-founder Jeffrey battled with his life-long severe allergies. Jeffrey survived off of McDonalds, one of the few places he can eat, and also his nutritional powder. I survived off of quite a few bars of good European chocolate! How did Jeffrey and I cover Fashion Week in multiple countries and complete an entire third issue of a magazine in only a few weeks? Only with the help of some amazing people in our “MITH family…” a small army of helping hands! I wake up every morning excited, because there really is something new and surprising every day with MITH! Like when we met Chiara and Valentina Ferragni as well as Lucky Blue Smith and his sister Pyper during Milan Fashion Week! I will add, that both these young sibling Jeffrey Lin @jeffreylin_ @jeffreylin

pairs were accompanied by their mothers, which goes to show that having a great support system and influence in your life is so important. What I love about the Ferragnis and the Smiths, is that despite their fame and success, they are some of the kindest, most down-to-earth individuals, and MITH loves meeting good-hearted people. Indeed, MITH is all about goodness and kindness, as we proliferate clean and classy fashion and entertainment to inspire our generation to find true worth and identity from within. Besides promoting these ideals wherever MITH takes us, we are also involved in multiple philanthropic endeavors to reach our community in more tangible ways at large. We are already reaching a global market with our magazine, having readers and subscribers not only in the US, but also in Asia, Europe, Canada, India, Australia, and other countries across the world! Now we hope to reach many hearts and souls with our successes in giving back! We’ve got our jet engines loaded and ready for takeoff, as we anticipate the launch of issue 4 this summer. Who knows where MITH will take us? We hope you’ll ride along for the adventure to find out!

In love, Holly Glasser Editor-In-Chief of MITH Magazine Model/Actress/Singer- NY, LA and Miami

“Humanity doesn’t need more booty-shaking… humanity needs more forbearance, healing, helping, optimism, and understanding.”

MITH

Tell us a little bit about yourself... where you grew up, how you originally got involved in dance and choreography. “I grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Like any young child, I started dancing recreationally when my mom put me into dance classes at the age of 3. When I started in ballet, I quickly realized it was not enough for me. When I added jazz into the mix, ballet and jazz were not enough either. When I added tap into the mix, I found that ballet, jazz, and tap were STILL not enough for me. At a young age, my love for the challenging nature of this art form was so evident. I wasn’t always keen to participate… my mom always had to sit in the corner just in case I would run out of the room in tears. I’ve always needed reassurance, but I wanted to learn it all…I wanted to be it all. I have always had major issues in verbal communication, so when I found dance, I knew that this was my chance to live up to my potential in a way that distracted from my verbal weaknesses.

I have been choreographing for as long as I can remember. Singing under tables at family events, putting on shows with my brothers in the front yard, making my friends learn my “choreography” in basements, and then demanding that they invite their parents. Haha. I would literally dance in my bedroom before bed every night. As for serious choreographic endeavors, I convinced my studio director to let me self-choreograph a solo at the age of 14. I have been hooked ever since. To this day, when people ask of my “success,” all I can think to say is, ‘last time I checked, I was just dancing in my living room for my dog.’” How did you get the Justin Bieber gig and what was your reaction? “I was having a really awful day, actually. I had just gotten out of this hospital. And so, I was in my bed and I got a call from a New Zealand phone number. If you know me, you know that I NEVER answer my phone. But I thought to myself ‘the only human I

know from NZ is Parris Goebel, and if this is Parris Goebel, I am going to poop my pants.’ And sure enough, I picked up the phone, and in the most beautiful NZ accent, I heard ‘Hello, this is Parris Goebel.’ SHE is the one responsible for it all. She was the one who believed in my work enough to have me on board. I had no clue what to expect, I was nervous. I was second-guessing. Being a dancer more so trained for concert work, I was unsure if this commercial path was one I wanted to take at all, but I knew that I had to take this opportunity. I was given a chance to make a global impact, and I felt as though I was taking one for the team. The “team” being all movement artists that work to push the boundaries in an educated fashion that want dancers to be seen in the light that they deserve. I wanted to showcase real thought-provoking work on a platform that usually calls for less complex concepts, fancy outfits, and sexuality.”

STYLE GUIDE M

odesty is most certainly the hottest! When MITH Magazine was first created, our Editor-In-Chief Holly Glasser and co-founder Jeffrey Lin were searching for something that the fashion industry was missing dearly. The MITH Girl is relatively diverse, yet requires a genuine appreciation for fashion, an adventurous spirit, creativity, and an open mind. She

a Fashion Nerd

probably splurges on Coachella tickets or intends to, she dreams about designer heels, and loves getting inspiration from daily life. A MITH Girl is classy, stylish, eclectic, timeless, but still makes room for some glam. She is a dreamer with a sense of humor, selfless, kind, admirable, approachable, loves music, and makes sure everyone around her is happy and taken care of. Natalie Partsinevelos, Style Editor
