It has been a tradition to begin the annual Showman’s Choice Sale with a calf out of the Mittag Alias line of genetics. Here is the 2017 Edition. This wild colored yellow and white steer who was recently a reserve breed champion at the Iowa State Fair Prospect Show has 2 shots of Alias in him, being a Hi Ho Silver out of a Full Sib to the famed Mittag Alias Donor. This one is just so complete: long necked, big hipped, huge middled and sound. Try and find a major hole in this one….. We’ll wait.....

SIRE: HERE I AM DAM: POWER PLANT SON DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: STIERWALT CATTLE

Here's one we are extremely proud to offer! This is one of the best steers we have produced. He is so unique in his power yet so attractive and sound when set into motion. We think this steer can do great things down the road with his design and backed by an awesome cow. If you're serious about showing don't miss out on this one!

This one has simply been Craig’s favorite from day one. He is so rugged and powerful in his design yet is still super sound and functional in terms of structure. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of shag this one has had all year long. He is a full sibling to “Peach”, the many time Champion Chi heifer campaigned by the Means Family this year.

SIRE: MAN AMONG BOYS DAM: OAKDALE DUKE/MAINE DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: MITTAG SHOW CATTLE

SIRE: MONOPOLY DAM: ROCKSTAR BREED: CHI DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: STIERWALT CATTLE This is one we're excited to see down the road, he's a shot leaner but so loaded with quality we decided to go ahead and put him in the offering. With every bite of feed this one gets better. He's super attractive through his front end combined with muscle and structural soundness. Don't over look this one just cause he's a little green.

For those of you who have followed Mittag Show Cattle in the past year, I’m sure you’ve heard about or seen Joe Herr’s exciting Liquid Courage x Monopoly steer purchased from us last year that is being geared for AKSARBEN …..well here is his full sibling. From those who have seen both steers, everyone agrees that this one softer made. Don’t be afraid to feed a Liquid Courage either, they are doing just fine!

SIRE: MONOPOLY DAM: IRISH WHISKEY SON DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: STIERWALT CATTLE

This steer comes to the top for us pretty easily. He is a steer that is hard to put a hole, has great balance , structural soundness, and rib shape. He's a solid high quality steer backed by an exceptional cow in our herd.

Only 3 words are needed to describe this steer.....Monopoly x Irish Whiskey!?! One of the most proven and predictable pedigrees in the business. A result of an embryo purchase from Jason Sheetz, this steer is backed by the Rodgers 509 donor now owned by Blaine Rodgers in CA that originated from Rob VanHove in SD. This is the easy feeding, fat steer kind that have been known to be so competitive from August – November.

Lot 8 is so well put together from front to back, added depth and muscle but smooth in his lines. This steer's soft apperance makes us believe he will be an easy feeder. He is very complete but still has plenty of style. Here's an opportunity to feed a real good one!

It was a contest all summer between lots 3 and 11 on who was the hairiest. While this one took weaning a little tougher, I'm telling you it was a tight race. If you can tell by now, these BPP cattle are big bellied and huge footed. This one has a shot of extra neck extension as well that should make him a player all year!

SIRE: BLACK POWER PLAY DAM: HAIRY BEAR BREED: MAINE DOB: APRIL CONSIGNER: MITTAG SHOW CATTLE

SIRE: MONOPOLY DAM: STIERWALT 169 (IRISH WHISKEY) DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: STIERWALT CATTLE Loads of style here! This steer reminds us a lot of his full brother we sold a couple years ago that was Champion Maine and 4th Overall at the Oklahoma State Fair! That steer fed great and we feel this one will too as everything out their mother has. If you're looking for one that should get better as time goes and be there in the end this would be a good choice.

If we were gonna change him we just wish he was a little further along but we have confidence that will come as he's a full brother to our new A.I. Sire Real Deal, who was received exceptionally well at Denver, and the '15 4th Overall Steer at the Ohio State Fair! LOT15

“The Black Power Play that got Southwest Iowa Talking!” This one has been a crowd favorite not only from his pictures but from those who have toured our set. This is one of the most unique built ones we have ever offered. It’s hard to build them this stout, this long bodied, and still keep them sound. Out of a no miss Dr. Who cow purchased from Holtkamp who has already produced a $10,000 Monopoly heifer and the Reserve Division 1 Crossbred Steer at the 2017 Iowa Beef Expo. Join the BPP Hype!

With the gaining popularity of Safe and Sound and his recent success at Oklahoma steer majors, what better way to join in than with this blue stud. His name should just be "Holdover" as many times as we've heard that about him.You can't help but love the rib shape of this one yet is still so cool fronted and monster boned.

SIRE: SAFE AND SOUND DAM: PREDATOR DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: MITTAG SHOW CATTLE

SIRE: I BELIEVE DAM: COMMERCIAL MAINE BREED: MAINE DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: STIERWALT CATTLE

What you see is what you get here, this steer shedded of late and hasn’t got it back yet, but even so he's one that's hard to put a major hole in and comes in a sound attractive package. This steer has the right design just needs a little time as he should get better every day.

14 ONE OF THE WINNINGEST FEEDER CALVES IN IOWA - SUMMER 2017

LOT

19

This one has had a rough life so far, losing his mother at a month old. His Smokin’ Bob dam was one of the most exciting young cows for Mittag Genetics. This one is so freaky and contemporary in his build yet still has the rib shape to give him that easy feeding look. Not only is this one show and kid broke but was one of the winningest feeder calves in Iowa this summer and he’s not ready to stop!

SIRE: I-80 DAM: SMOKIN’ BOB/LUTTON BREED: MAINE DOB: APRIL CONSIGNER: MITTAG GENETICS

Anyone in the market for a sound, stout, easy feeding steer needs to take a look at this one. He was a hair baby but hasn't got a lot of it back yet, even so you still have to appreciate the softness, muscularity , and soundness of this steer.

The second Monopoly out of the Rodgers 509 Irish Whiskey donor. This extremely stylish heifer is one of those that can be shown either way. While that can sometimes be tricky, we feel it’s a bonus with her since she can excel in either the breeding heifers or market heifers. To top it off, this one is show broke and ready to go! Bid with confidence here!

We are very excited to offer this heifer! This is the first heifer out of this mating and we are very pleased with the results! She's a full sib to lot 12 and out of one of our best cows! This heifer is loaded with rib shape and extra extended through her front end. She is definitly not devoid of muscle but carries it in a feminine design. This is one we feel should be an exceptional show heifer as well as has that donor potentional you want when her show career is over.

Before we go on and on about how excited we are for this ones future, we must note that "Helen" had some unfortunate luck and does have a bad eye on the Judge's side. While it hasn’t affected her one bit, we want that noted. Now we will say that this one is built how breeding heifers are supposed to today. Huge middled, cool fronted and structurally correct. We also love the added foot and bone size of this one. TH and PHA Free by pedigree.

SIRE: HI HO SILVER DAM: MAXIMUS DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: MITTAG SHOW CATTLE

SIRE: MONOPOLY 2 DAM: LIFELINE BREED: MAINETAINER DOB: APRIL CONSIGNER: STIERWALT CATTLE Full Sib to Real Deal! This heifer is a lot stouter than most the heifers produced from this mating which makes us lean towards her making an exceptional market heifer, but one that has some breeding potential if put into production. Her mother has been very good to us producing many high sellers and winners. This one definitely doesn't disappoint!

When dad found this one in NW Iowa this summer, I remember dad calling and saying "Tuck you need to own this one!". With her recent success being named the Champion Charolais Composite heifer at the Iowa State Fair Prospect Show, what better way to attend the 2018 Charolais Junior nationals in Des Moines than with this elegant one. Offers a shot more power and performance yet still looks good on the side profile. Out of a no miss Monopoly x Ali purchased directly from MLC.

We don't have the opportunity to show market heifers down in the south so we brought this one up cause we feel she could make an exceptional one. She has exceptional hair and for being stouter built she is attractive through her front and sound when put into motion. This heifer's mother has been a no miss cow for us so we feel if this heifer was kept and put into a breeding program she should have the ability to rasie some high quality steers.

As you can tell, we have gotten along very will with the Liquid Courage x Monopoly mating. We have mentioned numerous times recently we probably shouldn’t be selling this one but we always offer our best. While a show career should be a successful one for her, i thibk this ones best days are ahead of her as a cow! With Irish Whiskey, Dr. WHo, Monopoly, and Who Made Who in this ones pedigree, the ingredients are here for you to raise your next great one!

SIRE: ONE IN THE CHAMBER DAM: CARNAC/FULL FLUSH DOB: MARCH CONSIGNER: MITTAG GENETICS Might possibly be one of the bIggest bellied ones of the entire offering yet has so much power from behind and is sound on the move. Sounds like the perfect combination for a perfect market heifer. Out of a tremendous Carnac/Full Flush cow that raised a $10,500 steer sold by MLC and Bruce Movall a few years back. While I think this one was supposed to be a steer, she should make your presense known in the market heifer division.

If you haven't noticed by now, we placed all of the heifers last in this year's sale because she woulDn’t be this low on the sale in years past. Out of a great Step Up/Unforgiven cow purchased from MLC that has had a calf on the sale every year we've had her. Similar to lot 27, I feel this ones best days might be ahead of her as a cow. With the huge separation between what we want in Breeding Heifers and Steers today, these are the kind that raise today's steers!
