In a major initiative, the major motor vehicle manufacturers have launched Automotive SPICE™, a common framework for the assessment of suppliers in the Automotive Industry based on the international standard ISO/IEC 15504 (Process Assessment). During 2006 there will be a general transition to use of Automotive SPICE™ for performing supplier software capability assessments as a basis for supplier selection and for monitoring of contract performance. The focus on software capability assessment has already provided significant business benefits in use, and will continue to do so, particularly in the field of safety-critical embedded software system components. This seminar is the official launch event for Automotive SPICE™. The motor vehicle manufacturers will be present at the event to convey their official policy and approach towards supplier capability assessments. There will be presentations regarding specific process requirements together with experiences of assessment from the supplier‘s perspective. Attendees will have ample opportunity to clarify all aspects of the policy and approach during a ‚question and answer‘ session. Automotive SPICE™ is an initiative of the Automotive Special Interest Group (SIG), a joint special interest group of The SPICE User Group and The Procurement Forum. The members include AUDI AG, BMW Group, DaimlerChrysler AG, Fiat Auto S.p.A., Ford Werke GmbH, Jaguar, Land Rover, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Volkswagen AG and Volvo Car Corporation.
