Capsulution NanoScience AG – New cooperation in the field of medical technology aims at the development of novel products Combination of nano-encapsulation technology with medical implants
Berlin, January 30, 2006 – End of 2005 the Capsulution Nanoscience AG entered a cooperation agreement for the development of novel products in the field of medical technology. The new Capsulution’s partner is a leading and internationally renowned company in the field of medical
implants.
The
cooperation
project
aims
at
combining
Capsulution´s nana-encapsulation technology with medical products. The initial five-year project will be co-financed by the partner company with 500,000 euros during the first year.
Capsulution develops innovative solutions for pharmaceutically active compounds – so-called drug delivery systems – to transport these safely and with increased effectiveness to the desired location of action in the human body. To achieve this, Capsulution applies its worldwidepatented LBL-Technology® (layer-by-layer technology), exclusively licensed by the Max-Planck-Institute. Because of their minute dimensions, their diverse functionalities as well as their highly reproducible production the capsules are suitable for a wide range of applications.
By combining implants with drug delivery systems the cooperation focuses on increasing the therapeutic efficacy of novel medical technology products. During the production process specific nanocapsules
that
are
filled
with
active
compounds
are
applied
biocompatibility of the implant. Upon implantation the capsules’ contents can be released in a time-lapsed fashion.
